Is it wrong to look if someone is showing cleavage?

Anyone else have a problem with eye contact? If I'm having a conversation and someone is looking at me, I naturally just tend to look down a lot. When I'm talking to a woman showing cleavage, it's like holy shit, of course I want to look down even more. It takes every amount of will power to keep my eyes up. So much so that I can't concentrate on what they're saying. I just keep thinking "Oh god, don't look down, don't look down."

I do. It's not like I am trying to look at someone's chest, I just don't like maintaining eye contact with anyone.

My rule of thumb: Always make a quick peak, but never stare & ogle at a woman's....bouncy bits.

Clever.

I see you are using a double entendre wherein "make a peak" represents an erection, signifying your tittillation at a beautiful woman's cleavage. It can also be construed as a warning against any other male in the vicinity. Your peak is a "sword" meant to dissuade would-be suitors.

There's so much meaning packed into this slight change-of-phrase that I'm honestly amazed. Wonderful. Pulitzer Prize, nay, NOBEL prize worthy.

Cute. But my point still stands. It's just rude to glare at someone in general.

Don't stare. In fact, staring at a person for any reason is considered rude (unless you're talking to them or they're talking to you, of course)

It is not wrong obviously, it is the person in question that is showing off.

Me personally I do not even look at attractive women in general unless I'm in a conversation or when they just enter my field of vision by chance. Even when having sex I avoid looking at their body (outside of face/practical stuff).
I've got problems though.

If its a low cut shirt its like that for a reason. Its to get looks. It being low cut serves no other purpose than to show off the boobs.

That being said a quick look is ok. Staring like a creeper for an extended time though is just wierd. In other words take a quick admiration of the situation but don't dwell on them.

It can't be the hot weather or something. It can't be because it is more comfortable than a turtleneck. No. It is only to show the boobs to the male audience. Sure.

Or it could...you know, be hot outside.

He specifically said its a coworker at work.

Unless they work outdoors it is likely low cut for other reason's. My god people on this forum are so quick to jump on every single damn thing anyone says.

But we weren't talking about his post. We're talking about yours.

And the main point here, that still stands btw, is that there are plenty of reasons a woman would wear a low-cut top other than "HERE GUYS! LOOK AT ME!"

I try compliment on the shirt or top. Never had a problem with a small compliment and it always leads to them wearing something similar the next following days.

What? Where are you deriving this from?

My point was that if they are in the workplace indoors somewhere she is probably doing it for a reason.

You are aware women do enjoy showing tits off sometimes correct?

Yes, I am very much aware of that. But that's not what you said. This is what you said:

You made no reference to the workplace or any other sort of specific situation. You said, in no uncertain terms, that women ONLY wear low-cut tops to show off the boobs. And now you're mad that people are calling you out. Well, you can be mad, but don't sit here and pretend like we're all deliberately misinterpreting you.

Holy shit I didn't word something perfectly sorry.

Forgot better be damn careful about every word you say or your sexist asshole or something lol.

This has nothing to do with you "not wording something perfectly" and you know it.

You made a very strong, very undeniable and very general statement about why women wear the clothes they do and you got called out on it. If that's not what you meant, what you wanted to say, or you just happened to use all of those words incorrectly then that's fine. I can accept that and move on.

But don't act like we're just white knighting, deliberately misinterpreting, and trying to pick your post apart. Don't insult our intelligence; you know what you said.

Holy. Shit.

Time to abandon thread.

Not that I disagree as such, but what other reasons might there be?

Maybe it's cooling when it's warm, less cleavage sweat? I don't know, that's all I got.

In my opinion:

As noted, the complicated element here is that some women like to be noticed -- even stared or gawked at -- and some women very much do not. Further, it's not as simple as "these women want to be gawked at all the time, while these other women never want to be gawked at." It depends on situation and mood, as well as on the woman generally.

Figuring out who is who takes a modicum of contextual understanding, but not too much. For example, a woman wearing a low cut shirt in winter is much more likely to be seeking attention than a woman who is wearing a low cut shirt in summer. A woman wearing a low cut shirt at a bar is much more likely to want to be noticed than a girl wearing a lower cut shirt at work. Even something like camera angle on Twitch matters; a woman wearing a low cut day shirt with the camera clearly angled at her breasts is far more likely to be seeking attention than a woman who has a more straightforward camera angle or who is wearing her pajamas on twitch but which may show a little cleavage anyway.

I know this is frustrating, as it's far easier to have a simple formula, or to have someone explicitly tell you that behavior X is okay in these situations or here is a list of situations where behavior Y is not okay. Unfortunately, human interaction relies on context and body language to produce a full understanding.

Just off the top of my head:

1) It's popular. Just go to the women's section of pretty much any department/retail store. Unless it's Fall/Winter attire a lot of the clothing for women feature cuts that show some cleavage. It's more socially acceptable for women to show cleavage for a multitude of reasons, and because of that it's popular. For that reason you can have a lot of women buying low-cut tops and never once thinking it's for a man's benefit. It's just what they see other women wearing.

2) It's comfortable.

3) It cooling in the summertime.

4) They like it. And whether or not a woman likes something often has no basis in what the men around her like.

This isn't necessarily true. The majority of women's shirts are low cut (unless it's a t-shirt). It's kind of hard if you have larger boobs to find a shirt that WON'T show your cleavage, unless you wear all turtlenecks all the time.

This is exactly what my girlfriend says all the time. After going dress shopping with her a few times, I get it. A dress that is reasonably cut would look respectable on a smaller boobed lady but on mine it fits everywhere except her boobs which seem to be trying to burst free half the time
