LIZARD SQUAD is Back. Planning XBL Attack. "Biggest attack yet". [UP: XBL/PSN Down]

I don't usually ask for freebies from video game companies when things like this happen, and I don't mean to here, but I have a feeling they (Sony/MS) will do so in some form or another (even though, I really don't think they should). While I don't currently have an XB1, I do believe Microsoft would be the more likely to give away something (a game, a month of XBL, etc) due to the fact that they've seemed to double down in their attempt to get XB1's into more homes via the price drops and, unfortunately for them, this bad press (even if it's not really their fault) could erase the momentum they have been building. Even though they are despicable, I do believe that Lizard Squad might be correct in that people might attempt to return their systems, believing them to be broken. If it wasn't Christmas, I wouldn't expect any giveaways, but due to the fact there was such an influx of new owners, it might be in the best interest of both companies to offer something.

The best thing they could do is use their money and resources to hunt these assholes down that's all I want. Sure some are under age but their parents should be held accountable for their kids actions on their internet connection at the very least a monetary penalty would get the point across. Hunt em down civil lawsuit make them pay for damages because I know Sony/MS are losing money and taking hits to their brand because of this isn't free.

So is PSN back up or not?

I want to download Mordor, but the site wasn't loading for me, so I'm guessing no.

Depending on region, some people claim they can get to the store, download things, and play certain games like Destiny - but it's random who has access to what and for how long. It does seem like Sony is making progress on getting services restored, but since it is such a large service spread across multiple regions and countries, it's unclear when things will be okay enough for everyone.

Unfortunately, it is very unlikely the people who initiated the DDoS attack will ever be caught, since it's a tricky process. It highlights why the internet's susceptibility to large-scale DDoS attacks is a real problem everyone faces.

So weird:
On my phone (only piece of tech I've got here), I can only get to the webstore through Chrome. Safari and Dolphin keep loading forever. Only problem is that sign-in has been failing on Chrome... So, basically, webstore is up, but doesn't work yet =/

The site is working for me In Tampa, FL.

Some on the East coast have been able to get in with all services though (friends/online-gamplay,store etc.)

Sadly all I can get is the site up.

In their interview they said it was to show the vulnerability of Sony and Microsoft, due to them being really cheap and not spending money on security stuff to stop these kinds of attacks or something. Could just be assholes trying to ruin everyone's fun too with that cover-up, not trusting anything at this point.

I love the part where one of these douchebags says something to the effect of "maybe the company we attacked will hire us to help them secure their networks." Fuck right off with that noise. If I make my own windows and then go into a store and smash all of their windows.. does that mean they should hire me to make all of their new windows for them?

I just got the SEN is undergoing maintenance message for the first time.

The network is definitely up though, I'm watching people play Destiny right now. It's the sign-in servers that continue to be under maintenance.

That would set a horrible precedent. Not only would these little twats have more reason to continue, but the dregs of the gaming community might actually support their behavior.

It appears to be coming back to life for many. Just a matter of time for the rest of us.

The site is working for me In Tampa, FL.

When I try to sign in it says the network is undergoing maintenance

Ah boo. Guess I'll wait, hopefully they fix it before the 29th, I want Mordor for $41.96 or whatever. lol.

I'm in Toronto, Canada. Nothing yet.

I don't need a freebie for this. I'd rather the dick heads doing the attacking be punished.

They have already been "continuing".

In fact what we have right now is the result of them pushing the limit.

IIRC, Origin, PSN, and Xbox Live were all DDoS'd before by Lizard Mafia/Squad.

Can't change my account info yet. I can do everything else though. *sigh* this is why you don't wait till the last minute to update your shit, folks. I could be playing ground zeroes right now. =/

Seems to be a mixed bag of results tbh. My situation is going back and forth to "lost connection to PSN" to "currently undergoing maintenance" so things look better but at least for me im not there yet.

EDIT: Now all I'm getting is "undergoing maintenance" dunno seems like progress.

slowly coming back to life for me here in Chicago, PS4 now says "Under maintenance", The store website is up but won't let me log-in, Vita has been up and running since this morning.

The PSN store came up briefly at least. I'm in Virginia. Can't get on Destiny though. Just got the game a week ago. At least Wii U is still working. Will play on that I suppose. Are these attacks going to continue until the holidays end?

Nothing PSN / SEN related is working on PS4, PS3 or websites via PC browser.

Cannot so much as sign in.

On PS4:

"The connection to the server has been lost."
(NW-31194-8)

Chicago area.

North Carolina coast

Getting still a mixture of:

'Sony Entertainment Network is currently undergoing maintenance (NP-35000-8)

'Please wait' hypnosis

'The connection to the server has been lost. (NW-31194-8)

'An error has occurred. (CE-35287-5)

They have already been "continuing".

You misunderstood. I meant they and everyone that aspires to be like them would have yet another reason for doing it. Plus, the more opportunistic sections of the internet might actually throw their support over to the side of criminals who can get them free shit. Kimdotcom's media stunt was bad enough, but if Sony or MS capitulate, we're in for a lot more instances like this.

It might not seem that way, but people sharing their status and region is useful, as it answers questions ahead of time and lets us get a feel for how things are progressing. It sucks if you can't connect, but I do think we're seeing things improve right now.

My fear is that its going to be like last night, where it was up for a little bit and then promptly back down. XUUUUUUUUUR!

PS4 store currently saying it's down but my wife's friend list is loading. Just can't access the store.

check and see if your account has automatic log in. My wife's account works fine but my account (no auto log in) doesn't.

Edit: Dallas, Texas

Edit: She now has access to the PS store.

I was able to connect to the store in the browser but it seems to be slower right know. Still, I was able to add funds in my wallet (got a mail a while after that) and probably was able to butPersona AU DLC.

Mexico.

what a hard life
So, people don't have a right to be pissed off about a product they purchased which hasn't been functioning properly? You know, many people only get weekends to do any gaming, especially if it's online gaming.

Edit: Melbourne, Australia - forgot to mention that I'm able to access the PSN store and friends list from my vita. Can't send messages though. I also cannot sign in via my PS4.

all my apps like netflix and hulu have been up and running with no issue. Hope this gets resolved quick :(

Edit: on the bright side, this has taken me off Destiny for a few days so i went to the gym! lol

One of my Uni 'friends', to be honest we're just classmates, claims to be in an " Anonymous branch" when we hang out with some mutual friends. I had to explain to him how stupid it was to do this shit.

Apparently he says that by DDoSing the networks, it is giving Sony and MS the clue that they need to up security and give cause for "free online". I had to call him out on his BS. Long story short, I found out that there are tons of "h4ck3r" forums out there and they are planning to do this more often, some even going as far as claiming to be in Lizard Mafia in order to spread "awareness".

Fucking stupid, guess we'll see this more often if they are telling the truth.

Finally got onto Destiny servers after a ton of "unable to connect" messages. Are Bungie's servers being hit too?

So weird only seeing 7 friends online right now, usually in the 30's and 40's..

I'm currently getting a "SEN under maintenance" when I try to log in on PS4, which is an improvement over the error codes I was previously getting. I feel confident everything will be okay in the morning here :)

Yeah, you're always going to have people that use illogical statements like that to justify their unethical behavior. But, if all they wanted to do was teach Sony and MS a lesson, there are less disruptive ways to do it. I can only imagine how many more of these leeches will crop up now that there's the possibility of getting prizes in return.

Tampa, Florida... just got booted out of my PSN account.

Now instead of alternating between maintenance and timeouts, I try logging into my account and am consistently getting just the maintenance error codes.

Well, I managed to get on and buy and download Akiba's Trip. However it apparently didn't download the licence from the store so even though I have it downloaded I can't play it until I can get that sorted and PSN shit the bed again for me. Oh well, sleep time it seems.

Is that thing even accurate. How can it do it?

It shows a tiny, tiny slice of all the data Norse's darknet is seeing. So the reality is far worse.

Norse and Arbor have their own darknets, or "network telescopes" as they're called, seeded with thousands of honeypots and general sensors on various IP ranges, which they use to get a kind of "snapshot" of data hitting wide on the internet. Like buoys out at sea that track the weather, acting as an early warning system for storms.

I just got a change password request screen in my millionth attempt today on Vita. I changed it, then it went back to "undergoing maintenance (NP-9761-3)." Sigh.

On PS4 it's still spinning the ol' "please wait."

U.S. East Coast.

I'm going to bed. I hope I wake up to news of Loser Squad being arrested.
