LIZARD SQUAD is Back. Planning XBL Attack. "Biggest attack yet". [UP: XBL/PSN Down]

I expect no less than 3 free AAA games (20 hour long) and a year PS+

Then expect to be disappointed. I think they will give a month of PS+ at the most. Giving too much sets a dangerous precedent IMO. Every outage will lead to calls for grossly unproportional compensation.

I'm still having difficulty getting back on, it's probably because I logged out manually to try and fix it last night (craaaaaaaaaaaap!)

I don't know why people believe Sony will do anything about it. I lost a flash sale due to PSN being down for 3 days in a DDoS attack and nothing was done. What would be the difference now?

It seems I won't be able to get Dragon Age =[

Apparently one of the members explained the reasoning behind it.

As you guessed, it is really stupid.
"It's not so much that we don't care about [people's lives] being disrupted," a member of Lizard Squad clarified. "Surely people could go for one day [without playing games], you know, it wasn't even a day in total. It was just 12 to 14 hours."

The only real part I can agree with is they really need to make it so DDOS will not kill your game servers.

I fail to see why geography would make any difference whatsoever in successfully logging into PSN. It's actually quite comical to see people keep listing their locations as if it matters. Carry on though...

Is anyone able to login to the website to access their account info and manage devices? etc

Nope. :(

I discovered on Christmas Eve while setting up my PS4, that 2 PS3s and a PS4 have been added to my psn account. Over the last few days, I've downloaded all the ps plus games from the last year, various demos and two digital games but I haven't been able to restore my licenses or access the device management part of the website to deactivate all devices. So all that content is just sitting there unused (although apparently somebody somewhere is enjoying it).

Can we buy PS4 games on Vita store? I tried searching but nothing, it would be quite handy right now.

That's what the cunt said to BBC, apprently the reason was because... well... "shouldn't we all be spending time with our families anyway not playing games". Something like that.

There are thousands of web services that avoid going down after being DDOSed on major holidays, and this is at least the fourth time that PSN has been knocked out in the last 24 months.

They need to buck up and spend some dough on load balancing.

Meanwhile they're at their computers fondling their keyboards all day and tweeting every 2 minutes.

Still getting under maintenance in a lot of areas, can't seem to find out either where all the add ons I've downloaded on my old console are, in library it shows I have add ons but have no way to access them to re download them, maybe when it's working they'll show?

I think its somewhat ironic. DDOSing of PSN and Xbox Live never seemed to be a problem before, at least after my experience. So they create a problem, saying that they wanted to show that they need protection from the problem that they created. It wouldnt be a problem if they didnt create it (obviously DDOS attacks can be done by anyone, but it didnt seem to be any problem before).

They didn't go out of their way to update us every hour on PS blog with shit we already knew.
Yeah, that is why i'm wondering what he wanted to be done in addition, because they did indeed made updates on Twitter.

And do what, only to get hit by a bigger ddos, it's a money pit
Do you even know what you're talking about right now or are you just being emotional(I mean that in the nicest way possible, it's understandable to be mad) because we couldn't game for 2 days

Someone here wrote this detailed explanation as to no matter what they do based off this recent attack, they can come back next year with quadruple the amount of bots, leaving us right back at square one again

Now that kimdotcom negotiated with terrorist, expect it to happen again

I work for a major it security firm that interfaces with pretty much every major Silicon Valley startup that you can think of - two being arguably the most popular web services in the world. Both of which need similar data persistence for identity management. We talk about how to mitigate massive load, and none of these clients have been knocked out in the past four years.

So, yes, I know what in talking about.

have you been targeted like this?

That was all fake and apparently done by same group using a different name to create internet buzzzzz.

Edit: Which created more victims like this - http://myfox8.com/2014/12/26/greensboro-family-denies-involvement-in-xboxplaystation-hack/

Someone on GAF recognized one of the guys because he was swatted by him:

So the outed identities are not (all) random/fake? But yeah I guess it's no one from the currently active group.
