Giant Bomb GOTY 2014 - Destiny Has Brought Us Here

I have no idea what people see in Threes. Its a decent twist on that kind of genre but it seems like it got so much coverage right when it came out to trick everyone into thinking its amazing, just like Ridiculous Fishing

I always feel like I must be missing something for not liking DKTF's soundtrack considering how much universal praise it gets, sounds like a Nature Company sampler of new age/world music to me. Maybe I'm not alone after all.

I think the overall story in the first game is better but the second one definitely does have a couple of better holy shit moments.

They said they were going to spoil a big thing about that game's ending in the Day One podcast, but they didn't really reveal anything like that in the recent podcast, at least one hour into it. Perhaps because Drew hadn't finished it.
 
Dunno how everyone got worked up with Watch Dogs considering the delay and the downgrade. Ubisoft said explicitly that the WD was delayed to add more content. That didn't leave a whole of confidence when the game was released.

Destiny though, should have won that category.

It's closer to desperate grasping, like Driveclub has fallen from the top of a Mount Your Friends tower and just mashes buttons all the way down, at last grabbing someone's dong with a graphics patch right before hitting the ground.

he likes metal gear, but that's just grasping for straw.

Big Boss turn should be seen as a whole in Phantom Pain rather than the intro of game
 
Just got home and I see day two is up. Most disappointing huh? This should but an interesting discussion. Biggest question is how hard is Brad willing to fight to keep Destiny from getting it. I'm guessing it doesn't happen and Watch Dogs gets the title.
 
At least Watch Dogs was shitty, then everyone forgot about it. Destiny sucked, then every felt like they needed to keep playing and talking about it for 8 weeks to make sure it actually sucked.

that's cuz patrick worked in the same office as the developer of threes. which is why he got so upset and wrote those articles on 2048.

it's a great game tho. you should put more time into it if that type of game is your speed,
 
Just finished everything up, good stuff, didn't agree with a good chunk of it but it was definitely entertaining, I feel like I'm one of the few people that actually had a good time with Watch Dogs.
 
The Tropical Freeze stuff during Best Music was amazing, and I'm saying it as someone who loves the music in Tropical Freeze. It's just not the kind of music you'd be listening to by itself.

It's literally the only soundtrack released this year that I've loved enough to listen to by itself!

I did the same for the other DKC soundtracks, too.

"Corporate training video" music? "PBS kids show music"? I feel like you can disregard most video game music if you want to give them dumb ass labels like that.

The Luftrousers soundtrack sounds like Sega Genesis fart music weird chip-tune trance that is literally offensive to my ears. Not sure what the duders see in this music.
 
As someone who used the soundtrack to DK Tropical Freeze to help him get into exercising four days a week, that entire segment was painful to listen to.

It's salt in the wound that it wasn't even on their initial list.
 
I'm at the music segment now. Never played DK Tropical Freeze but checked that seashore ware soundtrack

So did they miraculously pick all of the bad Tropical Freeze tracks, or is this seriously the soundtrack so many people are rallying behind?

I love DKC2's soundtrack, but all of those just sound lame.

All the tracks they played were good but it's not like they cared to give it a chance. The moment it started they didn't give it 2 seconds before they shit on it.

I mean, after listening to them play the Luftrausers and Shovel Knight soundtrack for 5 seconds I thought those songs were pretty good. They listened to parts of like 6 or 7 different DK songs and it all sounded like shitty World Music.

Yet, despite doing exactly that for Luftrausers, that game still sounded awesome, while everything from Donkey Kong sounded bad.

Agreed. Or just keep it off the list. This has just been slowing down these podcasts for no real good reason ever since they started doing that. we already know what they think about the games they mention in that category through reviews and QLs, so what's the point of mentioning something just for a 2 minute recap of the review?
