LIZARD SQUAD is Back. Planning XBL Attack. "Biggest attack yet". [UP: XBL/PSN Down]

Take a good look at that. DO you really believe that? Do you think Sony would give access to Anon like that? Those guys are most likely trolling for followers and retweets as well.
That makes no sense. It's not true. Sony's probably fending off the attacks. It's not stable, but getting better. Seems these people are trying to take credit. Don't buy into it.
You don't know how true is that? You can't figure that out?

I don't believe it at all but I'd figure I'd post it here to hear what other people have to say about it. Following the PSN megathread on reddit it seems more and more people are successfully connecting.

Sure it probably isn't them restoring it but I'm sure a hacker group would have better network monitoring tools than the general public, and could better inform us about the status of the networks. Whether or not the status has anything to do with what they are doing, MS and Sony aren't being transparent with us at all, so maybe they are providing us with some additional info.

So how has Xbox been for everyone? It was off until 2am for me Christmas evening but ever since it has been fine aside from some weird purchasing issues last night while I was trying to get the Interview.

Same for me. Was back up Christmas night here, AZ USA, only issue was EA servers for battlefield 4 were down this morning. Played all day yesterday.

I completely understand what you're saying, it just doesn't make sense when applied to the real world. Things happen that are out of peoples control. When those things happen there isn't always someone or something that you can or should blame.

But it DOES apply to the real world. Here I'll show you let's say the secret service is paid to protect a HVT and while in their custody he's killed. Now it doesn't matter that it wasn't the services fault they were attacked the bottom line is they were attacked and failed to provide the service they were paid for therefore they are responsible and accountable for what happened. I'm not saying it's fair but that is how it is. Service was paid for customers held up their end of the deal and the service failed so someone has to be held accountable for what happened and if they aren't interested or can't find the people responsible for the attack it does unfortunately fall on Sony because they failed to provide services they were paid to do.

"PSN is back ONLINE in every country! Looks like our DDoS protection on Sony's servers worked! You're welcome :)"

This Anonymous account is claiming Sony let them access their servers and put their firewall on stuff, and that everything is back online now. Don't know how true it is but figured I'd post it

Say that out loud a few times and see how ridiculous it sounds.

Except that Sony's business isn't solely that of DDoS prevention, which you might have heard, is impossible at a certain point. So you're expecting them to do the impossible while using analogies that incorrectly describe the situation. Good job.

I can't get on the store, go online, or check my trophies on my PS4. I saw the interview with the pathetic tool who is claiming responsibility for this and can say that this f*cker deserves an ass beating.

Let's get this straight, DDoS attacks can be done by anyone and is not hacking. These people aren't hackers, they are pathetic, whining, tools crying for any kind of attention.

Watching this whole ordeal the last couple of days, I could make a fortune selling bridges on twitter.

you can DDOS from one computer? i would think they would need to build a bot net by hacking a lot of computer no?

What a fucking dick. If you're trying to punish those companies fine but to punish the consumers is fucking dumb.

There has to be more to this story. Are they underage and therefore un-prosecutable? Is there no way to prove they did it? Remove all trace from their PCs (or they didn't even use their PCs) and when the authorities turn up they'll say, "We were just kidding! We took credit for the attention!" Are they patsies for the real Lizard Squad?

You can't be smart enough to disable two multi-billion dollar companies online console gaming infrastructure on Christmas Day and dumb enough to do TV interviews afterwords. You just can't.

Dumbest post I've seen in some time. You have no concept of accountability or apparently cause and effect. The most they're liable for are the days lost, that's it.

Big man insulting someone with your keyboard over the Internet. Disagree I don't care Sony has a responsibility to their customers who paid for their service. If you enjoy paying someone for something and not getting what YOU paid for that's fine that's YOUR choice. But it's perfectly reasonable to expect what we pay for and he majority of people feel the same way that's how the world works it's how the economy works you pay for things in good faith that you're going to get what you paid for and if you can't understand that then you're beyond help.

Yeah I was getting weird Dragon Age Keep issues when I tried to start my Nightmare run earlier this morning but it resolved itself eventually.

My friend had the issue where he could pick his account but it would keep asking him to sign in after the fact. He unplugged the power source and put it back in before booting it back up. Apperently that worked for him, it's worth a shot if you want to synch Achieves or anything of the sort!

I found that doing a full restart got my friends list, store & game details stuff up, but not the 'What's New' feed.

In Australia here.

Perhaps but most likely in the small print of the online services it absolved them of any outages. Any gift they offer is purely to please customers. Not a requirement. Also, the only thing they are possibly required to compensate us for is the downtime added as extra days to our services.

Same shit, different day.

on PS3 I can do seemingly everything.

on PS4 I can do nothing.

Northern Illinois / Chicago area.

I don't think region is important. I think the auth servers are becoming more and more available. If you want to keep trying, go into: Settings -> PSN -> Sign out. Then sign back in. That way you can keep trying. NOTE THIS: If you cannot get back in, you will be locked out from PSN stuff that you previously weren't. Use this method at your own discretion.

They aren't. They're just jumping at an opportunity presented by more people being able to log in. No criticism meant to you.

You're quite something special. People have pointed out time and again just how wrong you are, but you keep refusing to listen to anyone.

I think you'd be hard pressed to find yourself in the majority among anyone that actually understands the situation. Total prevention is impossible, yet you're asking them to do just that because you hand over barely more than $4 a month. Make way for the big spender everyone, he expects to get what he paid for!

the worst thing is whenever I turn the ps4 on to see if psn is up(it isn't) and then when I shut it down I get 3 beeps. Like they can't even gracefully shut down their own console

It's not a run of the mill attack. It's one of overwhelming force. To use your example, you could not blame the Secret Service for "failing to provide the service they were paid for" if the attackers killed the HVT with a missile strike. That would be well more than what they were prepared for and well more than they could be expected to prepare for.

Whether you realize it or not you can not place blame where it doesn't lie and expect to be taken seriously. In the situation with Sony, if you were to choose to no longer be a customer of theirs, that's your right but it's not their responsibility to take the blame for anything that is out of their control.

What economy do you live in? If you buy a light bulb or a $500 receiver and it turns out to not meet your expectations you don't expect free shit. You just don't buy from them again.

Point to me where any network here has guaranteed to you as a consumer 100% uptime and you win. I'll wait.

Was having the same problem yesterday, then I started unchecking the Connect to Internet box every time I would turn it off and it stopped.

Guess Australia doesn't count as a country to them then... :p

BF4 multiplayer on PS4 is now working for me. I've been logged on to PSN all day but now is the first time I can actually play any game online.

Edit: very few populated servers tho :(

It is the responsibility of the service provider to provide service you paid for. Other than that I don't know what to tell you like I said if you personally like paying for things that don't work that's your business I won't judge you but don't sit there and act like what I'm saying is outlandish or unreasonable. IF Sony and or MS or anyone else can't protect their service from this type of attack and by all accounts I've read you can't then maybe they should stop charging people money for a service they themselves can't guarantee they can provide. There lies the point again we paid for service they have been unable to provide 3 days now and things don't seem to be progressing so they are and should be held accountable for their service failing to perform up to the standards we all expect when we pay them every month.
