I have no idea at all - I'm nearly clueless about these things.
I just did what what jimmy5150 on the U.S. West Coast in Seattle did, only I'm about 45 minutes north of downtown Chicago in Lake County, Illinois in the midwest U.S.

It's not common for corporations to be transparent about things like this. They tend not to want to increase their exposure either to future attacks or legally.

*Hugs* It's working for me. My PS4 started giving me a message saying PSN was down for maintenance, then it said I wasn't signed in, so I tried to sign in a few times and it worked (about 30-ish minutes ago).
I'm in Southwestern Ontario and my PS4 won't connect. My Vita can and I see other people from this province online. Seems weird. Doesn't bother me tonight though since I was planning on Vita-ing anyway.

It's not a difference of opinion. It's simply fact taken from the ToS which you agreed to when you created your account. You paid for a service without any warranty of uptime, and by extension denied yourself the right to hold Sony/MS accountable for any downtime. You can only blame yourself and your lack of reading comprehension when you read the ToS.
Now you can think / have an opinion that they are accountable under the freedom of thinking, but it's just factually wrong so don't be surprised if most people disagree.

The MTU specifies the maximum length of each unit of data (payload) in a transmission. In this context, it's referring to the size of 802.3 or 802.11 frames. In other words, it's a setting that only applies to a given link (i.e. between your console and the device it's connected to, probably your Internet gateway/router). Default should be 1500 for Ethernet (unless you're set up for jumbo frames). Decreasing it will only increase IP fragmentation.

SEN's website that was supposed to be used to redeem the Pick 1-of-4 voucher is still down. All I get is a maintenance page.
If they have single player, you can still play.
Yeah it sucks, but don't worry, when you do have games downloaded they can be played offline (assuming the game has offline features) if PSN is down.
I've been playing the Driveclub (full digital version) single player tour events through this outage as well as GTAV story mode (though I have GTA on disc but it doesn't matter)

I'm not going digital until there's no other choice. This whole PSN fiasco has only reinforced buying physical for me.
It was bound to. People have to justify their console of choice. I do understand the frustration though. Seriously this needs to be sorted out by the end of the night. If this goes on for another day....Just wait for the gaming news to blast Sony on Monday.
