Rage of Bahamut 7

The show is still good. The large-scale battle had a pretty nice budget and the CGI was integrated decently. Some of the storyboarding and animation in the second half felt iffy but nothing too distracting. The story itself remains quite predictable, but the characters are charming enough that you don't mind.

So I have two issues with the writing right now.

1.Amira is starting to feel like a plot device. She at this point is just serving to either get captured or put away some place. They really need to involve her more into the character dynamics and fights.

2.The lead devil's connection with Kaisar's dad was super weak. How did he get Kaisar's father killed? All he did was rile up the crowd and yet they kept going on about him seemingly killing Kaisar's dad.

????

Azazel hid himself inside some magic jewelry and offered it as a tribute to the king. He knew it would be guarded by honorable knights who would be executed if they failed in their duty. He also made a deal on the side to leak the details to the bandits who attacked the caravan. When they got the loot, Azazel came out of it and killed the bandits. Then he sat in the shadows watching as the knights got shamed and executed for it. He set it all up to fuck around with humans for his own amusement.

lol wut

I apparently must have missed those details as I don't remember all of that being mentioned.

Edit:So went back and scrubbed through episode 4 and 5. The pirate guy did say a demon planned it all out. I didn't see any part about Azazel leaking the info though in either episode.

best part of episode 7 was the clarification on the situation between Kaisar and Favaro, and them bro'ing out and fighting together in unison. Even though everybody could see coming that
Favaro would have done something like giving his friend a reason to live after his whole family is dead
is still is very sweet. So further emphasizing the whole rogue with a heart of gold.

The demon is Azazel. The only reason the bandits knew about the loot was because he put them up to it. That's what the pirate meant. He was Favaro's dad's best friend, and Favaro's dad was the bandit chief. In ep7 Azazel says that he owned the stones which were in the tribute, so that means he played everyone from the start. Just put the pieces together. :P

Episode 8

Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better than last week's episode, even though there wasn't any action at all. The plot stuff is pretty straightforward, so there isn't much to discuss there I think. What I loved about it is the return of the more energetic flow in scenes, Favaro's hilarious facial expressions, and Takahiro Sakurai voicing Lucifer. Sweet stuff. <3

Bahamut 8

Definitely a very story-centric episode. We got some revelations, some status quo changes, and a bit more insight on Amira.

I'm so happy that Kaisar
finally got to fulfill his dream of reclaiming his family's honor by becoming a knight again
though who knows for how long that will last. And once again we have the dynamics of
Kaisar with zombie girl and Favaro with Amira
. Probably a great decision as this gives the show more chance to flesh out the story and characters. Looking forward to it.

9-

I don't think this was necessarily a well directed episode. Seems like there was some sloppy editing and storyboarding in a number of sequences. The animation in that fight sequence with the soldiers was also pretty lacking.

That said, the demon/Jeanne part was absolutely fantastic on a direction front.

I will change the previous post, the show starts very well but episodes after everything went too much... strange. I don't know what to think,

The plot does really get in the way of things, it really should be an episodic adventure series, like Bebop and Champloo.

Episode 9

Good:
- The Jeanne story arc actually going somewhere now, although it's probably not going to end the same way as it does historically! Lol.
- Favaro and Kaiser actually working together yet again is cute.
- Detective Rita is on the case!
- Great art direction in the forest.

Bad:
- Ugly CG dragon.
- Close-ups of ugly CG dragon.
- Ugly CG dragon droning on and on about boring shit.
- Not enough hilariously detailed Favaro faces.

This helps explain why Azazel was fucking around even though he was hypocritically telling his second in command not to fuck up fighting Joan of Arc.

He's just a poorly conceived character.

I was wondering how close they would stick with Jeanne's legend and well I certainly got my answer in this episode. Being as she's my very character at the moment in this show I hated seeing her got blamed for shit she didn't do and the king has completely gone off the deep end. You'd think he'd realize pissing off angels by killing their chosen one would be a bad thing. Also pretty amusing too see that Rita is discovering vital information to possible fix the problem even though it seem Beelz has caught he. Not all that shocked about what that old dragon told Farv since I figure out a long time ago that Amira would probably have to die to fix everything involving Bahamut.

Rage of Bahamut 9

I actually didn't mind this episode that much, it had a very old school fantasy feeling when they're in the forest. And like others have said, the scene of Jeanne and the demon was great.

Besides that though, glorious PS2 CG Dragon came to the rescue.

I still don't totally understand how they got into special dimension with the Dragon. I'm also still unsure if Favaro is now "the hero" or if its just a elaborate swerve given the opening but we'll see how the last few episodes play out.

With how awesome the main cast is, its a shame they couldn't flesh out some of the axillary cast. They either needed more time or to trim the extended cast but the later was likely not an option given the game origin of this entire show.

Rage of Bahamut 10

Tastes like Chaika.

Don't get me wrong, it was enjoyable, but the whole Jeanne story seems to be mishandled, and the overarching plot feels like a complete mess. Also, Zombie Girl storyline feels like Deus Ex Machina.

I fucking knew it (about the pendants and map be a trap). I wonder if Lavalley is just Martinet in disguise or he is a different person. Rita boss as always and LOL at Azazel being run over by a chariot.

Shit is going down!

EDIT: I just realized that Lavalley had a "memory pendant" too, maybe he's not a traitor and he just have false memories like Amira.

Rage of Bahamut 10

While I'm disappointed episode after episode that the angels vs demons plot is so uninteresting, I still enjoyed the episode. Basically this was info-dump the episode. The demon dude saying "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAmira" is the new guy from Baccano who loved to say "Caaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarol"

And when they were giving the next episode verbal preview and one of them started singing "my deeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeest" I fucking lost it.

Shingeki no Bahamut 10

Goddamn it Rita, you were supposed to prevent that. Yet another God loving woman seduced by XXI century bras. RIP.

Thought it was a very good episode. The story leaped forwards but not in a nonsensical fashion like in the ep before. Amira embracing her mother was a touching moment with some sublime music. Though I have to say, I've got no idea what happened there at the end,
why did the mother just evaporate ?

Episode 10

Hahahahahaha. Man, Azazel sure turned into a joke character jobber in no time at all. I can't believe they even had a "whoops we ran over him" gag. Where did he even come from?! Tied up by a drunk, a talking duck, and a 10 year old zombie. Seriously smh. At least Martinet is far more entertaining villain. He has a really cool voice too. I lost it when he started singing in the preview. <3

The Jeanne stuff was pretty rushed, but it's going to be interesting to see what the end game here is. All the characters are getting turned into powered up demon warriors, they have the completed key, but... it doesn't seem like Beelzebub wants to take over the world, or he wouldn't be freeing Bahamut. He went to all this trouble just to destroy the world? There's probably a catch with regards to the rebirth of the world through Bahamut.

First episode was awesome! Not exactly a fan of the main character's designs, but thats not really an issue. Great animation, pretty funny and hinted at some cool things to come.

From skimming the thread it sounds like it doesn't maintain the quality of the first episode? Which would be pretty shitty. But I'm just gonna go ahead and watch it anyways. Desperately wanted a fantasy anime like this, and have really been struggling to find something.

The show starts fairly Dungeons and Dragons/standard fantasy with cool style, but as the episodes go on it starts going more and more towards the angels and demons main plot which kinda sucks out the fun of the show. I wish the show would have been more episodic ala Bebop where the main plot only rears its head every now and again until the end of the show where's it the focus

how many more episodes to go. Also I love the fact the bad guys are competent in this series...... Way too many big bads in other anime series would of fallen for favaro's bullshit

There's a character with a pompadour and a character with an afro, what more could you want?

To say the show loses quality is a bit unfair I think (unless you are talking visual quality, first episode still looks the best I think) but a lot of people, myself included, think the opening episodes were stronger. It's still worth watching though.

Agree with both, especially the second. Really stuck out to me.

I'm on episode 10 now. Still really enjoying it. I do get where people are coming from about the angels/demons stuff sucking out the fun - the show turned into something different than what I expected. But with that said I am still really enjoying it. The main plotline is decent enough, and the two leads are great.

That said, theres a lot of angels and demons on both sides, and none of them are really characters... they're just there. Mostly to talk. We don't really get to know them, so theres really no reason to care about them. For example, looks like the bad guy has switched from Azazel to Buzelbub and its basically the same guy with a different design.

EDIT: Yeah so episode 10 sort of went full-retard. I kind of understand what happened, but a little bit more exposition to explain all the things that were going on would have been nice. As it stands, seems like things were happening "to look cool" or "to move the plot forward," not necessarily because they make sense within the lore of the world.

EDIT2: Episode 11 was better, though I'm not sure how Amira randomly came out of the ball thing. Still enjoying it quite a bit, but the plot has become much messier and some things aren't exactly clear. Also I agree that the Jeanne stuff was resolved pretty quickly, almost like they could have removed it entirely from the story without much impact. It was neat, but didn't necessarily have a huge impact. Though... I guess she caused the shield around Bahumut to drop?

Rage of Bahamut 11

Poor fucking Kaisar is such a badass competent fighter, and he's the butt of the joke in this series lol. How many times did he fall into the abyss in this episode hahahaha. Regardless, solid episode, the show will be ending next episode I guess?

Man, it sucks that we are on end game stages already, the characters are great and as things escalate the focus is shifting from them to exposition and twists we dont need.

I dunno, I thought it was an enjoyable show all the way through. First few episodes and the last one were the best though.
Middle was "weak' but only compared to those episodes, still better then most shows.

Rage of Bahumut - Final
Ehhh.... I wasn't really big on the finale. Felt super rushed. The way they dealt with the evil demon guy was a neat little trick but felt unsatisfying. The big epic battle with Bahumut never really came. He sat there stationary, letting the angles put up a new forcefield around him and just let off a few fireballs. The action in this episode felt substandard compared tot he rest of the series, which is pretty strange. And the final scene didn't really give us anything. It was a super quick goodbye.

I still enjoyed the show overall, would definitely recommend. Fun fantasy adventure though with some escalation issues in the second half. But the ending should have been expanded.

Finished.

Overall, I think they did a really good job with it. It could have been structured a little smoother and the background plots could have been more interesting would be my only complaints. They kept pretty focused on the the journey for the chars and kept it moving well though. It had the action necessary but perhaps not the action we would really want. That's outside the scope of 12 episodes though, I think. It's a really hard format to write for and being able to get that much right is a near miracle for most shows.
