LIZARD SQUAD is Back. Planning XBL Attack. "Biggest attack yet". [UP: XBL/PSN Down]

Most likely maintenance and an influx of new PS4 owners going online with their new consoles.

If they can't handle the traffic flow of their own users regardless if they are new. It's time to invest that money to be able to handle the load. I'm sure PLENTY of people or playing Halo 5 beta on their ONE's without issue.

Why is the PSN STILL down days later. For a paid service this is ridiculous.

It's still on for me since late yesterday, but I still have to log out and then log back in before it will work. An odd glitch remains somewhere.

Not to be disrespectful of the engineers working but honestly if they are having this much trouble doing their jobs it might be time to let them go and get some people who can handle this.
Maybe this is there way of having a job interview, rather than a portfolio ;)

This is getting a bit ridiculous now. Back home from a night out and I just wanna play some Destiny. HOLD ME GAF.

I'm out of date with this, but isn't the downtime still being caused by Lizard Squad? If so why blame Sony?

Or is LS done and Sony are just messing with things?

I'm seriously considering not renewing PSN after this. It's not Sony's fault for my decision, but more because anybody with enough money can ddos the shit out of their network, and they clearly can't stop it..so why am I paying for it?

Yeah, Sony has been a total failure since Christmas. Supposedly Xbox one got attacked yet I had no issues with that. With ps4 I couldn't login for days, until yesterday when I changed the mtu settings. Now I can't even get on with that.

They're really leaving a bad taste in people's mouths, and I especially feel sorry for those who came on board to ps4 on Christmas as all they've had is a heavy paperweight really.

Is anyone still having issues rebooted their modem. I have a hard time believing it's as widespread as people are letting on. Is it more common for uk users to have issues now?

rebooted modem, router, unplugged power from the console(friend suggested that one) and plug back in..it doesnt work for me. Same thing this whole time, whats new and friends list infinitely load, store doesnt load at all just a blank screen. I live in Northern California, friend lives about 15 minutes away from me and it has worked for him since yesterday morning I believe...which leads me to think location means absolutely nothing

EDIT: holy shit its working for me. Wasnt working an hour ago, now it is

You should cancel your Internet whilst you are at it if that is your criteria.

Millions of people use both services, it's not the same for everyone.

Just because you don't have a problem with something doesn't mean that the problem doesn't exist.

Yes they can, but the lack of any sort of response from Sony is what annoys me the most. They have said nothing at all, on what are they doing right now, when will it be fixed etc etc. This shows a lack of care, and respect for the consumer.

Other than we are working on it what do you want them to say? There's thousands of servers, hundreds of ISP's, security services and equipment spread all over the world which all need co ordinating to get the thing switched back on, do you want them to update everytime they reboot a pc or something?

I'd be fine with some timelines added; 'We are working on it and expect a further update in 3 hours', 'we are working on it but don't expect service to be resumed for at least 4 hours'.

Just 'we are working on it please be patient' over and over again is annoying.

Someone posted this awhile back but it seems to have went unnoticed mostly:

The FBI is allegedly investigating Lizard Squad over Xbox Live, PSN attacks

I'm not sure how reliable the article is, but it's good news if true.

A member of the Lizard Squad hacking group, who goes by the alias “ryanc” or Ryan, allegedly garnered the attention of a special agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation after speaking with the media about Lizard Squad’s Christmas-day attacks on Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network (PSN).

Ryan is said to be 16 or 17 years old and lives in Finland, according to sources who spoke to the Daily Dot. The sources requested anonymity, fearing backlash from Ryan and the FBI. Ryan refused to confirm his age or other personal details with the Daily Dot.

Due to Ryan’s alleged age and country of residence, it may be difficult for U.S. law enforcement to extradite Ryan for his alleged role in the attacks.

Lizard Squad took down Xbox Live and PSN on Dec. 25, causing outages that lasted over 24 hours for some gamers. The group’s attacks have dominated headlines worldwide, and the Lizard Squad Twitter account has ballooned to more than 125,000 followers since the attacks.

This is not Ryan’s first brush with the FBI. In 2013, Ryan says he and a friend ordered hot wings and pizza using stolen credit cards at the Rio hotel in Las Vegas, while they were attending the annual Defcon hacker conference. Shortly after placing their order, six armed law enforcement officers and two FBI agents raided the hotel room, a source with knowledge of the encounter told the Daily Dot. Ryan claims the FBI raided the hotel room because they suspected him to be behind “thousands of hacks.” Ryan says he was never detained, but a source familiar with the raid disputes that claim saying Ryan posted bond and fled home to Finland.

The family of the FBI agent assigned to Ryan’s case has allegedly been on the receiving end of “swatting” attacks. Ryan allegedly called law enforcement claiming that he was a family member of the special agent, saying he just killed someone and had multiple hostages, according to sources, one of which has direct knowledge of the investigations. The call allegedly resulted in a heavily armored SWAT team raiding the home of the agent’s family member.

So you want them to pad their statements out with effectively nothing to make you feel better?

No I want them to give me some timelines on when it is best for me to check again rather than have me just sit there retrying over and over. Its called managing expectations.
