That's a shame. I really enjoyed his solo quick looks and his Worth Playing series. He will be greatly missed from the crew.

Wow :-(

Sad to see him go but I'm glad he's gone.

Hindsight is 20/20 and all that, but Patrick content has been really lacking since he left for Chicago. Just not that interesting with him by himself and no one to joke with.

Nonetheless, good luck to you Patrick, wherever yo end up next.

To be clear, I really liked Patrick and think his departure sucks especially because he brought different opinions to the group that they mostly don't have.

But I imagine quick look solos and articles and comments on trailer posts just aren't particularly important to GB as a site now, either. Honestly, if you asked me what was important to GB now, I'm not sure I could tell you, but at minimum it involves two or more people in a room playing a game of some sort.

Sucks. Even though he tends to get super opinionated way more than most of the other GB staff, he was always willing to try different stuff. And brought a lot of variety of GB's coverage.

:/

I wish him the best of luck, but I can't say I'm bummed about it. He has never gelled with the rest of the site, and was only at his best as a second or third wheel on content. I can appreciate his contribution of Bio-Forge to the Giant Bomb canon, Spelunkin with Scoops was a fun ride, and the stuff he did with Ryan a few years ago was great, but most everything else he did on his own always bored me to tears.

I was one of the guys who hated when he showed up, and while others around me grew to like him, it never really happened with me. I respect the work he's put in, and I'm happy he's seemingly found success in Chicago with the CAH crew.

Farewell Scoops.

I hope he's on to bigger and better things. I just didn't understand how you can move halfway across the country and do nothing but stream games every morning and really contibute. To be honest I don't even know how Vinny living on the East coast makes the product better either.

While I didn't always agree with what he had to say, Patrick's definitely one of the best current writers in the industry. Hope he makes it outside of GB.

Eh, as a guy mostly going solo, it doesn't really matter who he writes for or makes videos for, as long as he continues do that. It'll only be sad if he ends up going into development or gets out of video games or something like that.

So what is that studio space he is building for?

I have hight hopes for Giant Bomb East once their studio is finished in the new year.

Not totally surprised. Giant Bomb's strength is the chemistry between the various personalities and the content they make together. Patrick's a nice guy, but it was sort of an awkward fit with him being on his own in Chicago. Wish him all the luck with whatever he does next.

Though this makes me kinda worried about Alex and Vinny. Still a bummer they had to leave San Fran. Especially Vinny =[

Bingo.

Cross post:
Ah this sucks. Best of luck Tricky, you'll be missed. Thanks for all the great content you've contributed to GB the last few years.
So they're hiring? Well I look forward to seeing who joins, Dan was a fantastic new edition this year.

But still, can replace what Patrick brought to the site :(

That's a real shame but hopefully it's his decision.

Recently, I've been enjoying him and Alex much more than the actual Bombcast. I really don't like listening to Dan speak.

Best of luck to Patrick. He's one of the few good ones.

I will miss the contrast he provided, but for some reason I dropped off on almost all of the content he provided on the site.

Best of luck, buddy.

Oh what the FUCK this fucking sucks! Ah man, I don't even know what to say. Patrick provided a lot of my favorite content over the years. :(

I wish you the best in whatever you do in the future man. You're a great person and I will miss your contribution to Giant Bomb.

After the way he treated his new co-worker earlier this year I am so thankful they're getting rid of him.
Dan didn't deserve that and the whole crew will be better off without him.

Bye.

What do you mean?

You can't just post this and not elaborate on it.

Giantbomb got a little more monolithic today as we bid a heartfelt farewell to the biggest inlet of horror, japanese, and indie games content.

Thanks for Spelunkin with the Scoops, maybe now you can reprise your role as full time neogaf mod

Shame. Liked Patrick a lot.

Man what if they hired Adam Sessler now though that'd sure be great

Consider how he's now doing PR work for 2K, I don't know if he'd even be interested, but I'd personally love this. Sessler in the Extended Play days was my favorite video game dude.

Listening to the AM Podcast with Jim Sterling filling in, I'm kind of not surprised. The conversation he had with him made it sound like going independent made more sense for him.
