Giant Bomb GOTY 2014 - Destiny Has Brought Us Here

They caved in for Destiny because they were afraid of Brads reaction if they forced it out of the list... they probably didn't want to end the year with bad blood between them ;)

Honestly don't understand why it's four hours long, they seemed averse to any confrontation. Even gave Brad a spot for Destiny*.

*I liked Destiny though despite all its bullshit though. Not anymore however with the changes introduced in the Expansion.

The arguments are basically pushed to the point where one person is just saying "I don't like/like thing" and no one wants to get a little personal and say "ok, no one cares."
 
Vinny Caravella's Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor is the first completely enthralling video content I've seen of SoM. Every video I've seen of the game has seemed really dialed back and sort of boring. Vinny's playstyle really shows off the game in a great light. That looked intensely fun.
 
I may go as far to say Brad's Destiny fight is as ridiculous and as memorable as his Minerva's Den argument, which was by far a continued highlight for me throughout the years.

I've sunk a ton of hours into Destiny and played barely any of Wolfenstein but just going on how the crew has talked about Wolfenstein throughout the last year I think Wolf should have easily made the list. Somewhat baffling that it didn't make it on.

I really have no clue why people like Wolfenstein so much.

No part of that game was anything better than "okay" from my point of view.

But they all seemed to like Wolfenstein and only one person actually likes Destiny so its kinda a weird choice for them to cut it for Destiny.
 
Man that last hour(?) of deliberations over Destiny/Divinity/Wolfenstein was painful. I had to fast forward through a lot of it.

I think I might skip the last day of deliberations next year.

This is what he does. Every year. He's filibusters until nobody has the energy to argue with him anymore. It's petulant, but nobody every calls him out on it. They named a laundry list of issues with Destiny, but concluded: well Brad really likes it, it's gotta go on the list. Brad could have gotten Driveclub on the Top 10 if he wanted to.

I've just entered the Destiny discussion wormhole, and it seems like it's not going to be pleasant, but hopefully next year has enough heavy hitters that a game with such a muted reception like it won't be able to worm itself into the top 10.

Guess it depends on if something like that comes out that Brad really gets into, though, heh.
