Old ass PC game. 2D sidescroller looking action/adventure. Had a button where you would turn a gun on yourself and commit suicide. It had puzzles and shit.
Is it possibly Shadow Warrior? Remake of an old school fps.I can't remember the game that was posted on GAF within the last couple of months. I think the thread was saying that a specific PC game(?) is coming to PSN. From the pictures I saw, it looked like some first person game (possibly a shooter) with retro looking graphics. I think I read something about the PC game coming out earlier and it now coming to PSN. The game looked really cool, but I never got around to checking it out.
Maybe something like Eldritch? http://store.steampowered.com/app/252630/
Or Delver? http://store.steampowered.com/app/249630/
I want to say at least one of those might have been announced for a console release. Could be wrong.
Edit:
Most likely Tecmo's Deception. There's a few games in the series so poke through them if it's not the first.
There's no official Mario fighting game, but maybe what you played was Kart Fighter?
For a popular one back then it could be Magic Sword: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SKRXg0AISG4Alright GAF, I finally have two games that fit into this thread. The first one is actually connected to a lot of childhood nostalgia.
1. An arcade game I used to watch on summer vacation when visiting my grandparents. I was too young back then to be allowed to play it, but I got the chance to watch others and I fucking adored it. There was nothing comparable at the time on consoles. At least nothing that I knew of. We are talking something in the range of mid-late 80s, maybe early 90s.
So basically it was very similar to this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dKNv6qcKeSM
You control a hero with a sword, fighting off enemies. Similar to Golden Age, just way cooler looking. I think the enemies did drop items and the game started in a castle of some sort? (Not sure on that) There was also some platforming required.
Damn, I did not think of that game in a long time, would be really awesome to find out.

I think there's several that fit that style and my knowledge of arcade games is lacking compared to others to know what was console only and what was in arcades. Maybe check Knights of the Round though I don't think that has an interior level right until a few levels in. And it could be any of the Capcom Dungeons and Dragon games, I suppose.
Cool thread. So I played this game when I was young... I don't remember what console it was on since I had a few when I was growing up. It's a Japanese game where you played a swordsman of some sort. It was a side scroller, and it was HARD as hell, I remember that enemies literally rained on you and you can basically die it one hit. It had end bosses every few stages with rather Japanese designs. Oh, and the only power up was that your puny little sword grew bigger and bigger.
Was somewhat memorable since it was basically the first really hard video game that I managed to finish, damned if I could remember what it was called.

Might be worth looking at Black Tiger, too.
So I have one I've been trying to figure out for a very long time I believe it was on the C64, and it was like an asteroids clone, only more colorful, and as you flew around you could find portals that would warp you to to mazes you had to fly through.
I was very young when I played this and I don't have too much more to go on but I've never been able to figure this one out. Any ideas GAF?
Demon Sword for the NES?

2. This one should be easier. I did own a game on the SNES that was very much in the spirit of Ninja Gaiden. Very hard difficulty wise, but it was polished and good. I never made it very far though. Really can't remember the name. Release date in Europe was close to Mortal Kombat 2.

Hmm not sure then. Hagane maybe?Hmm, still no luck guys. From a gameplay perspective it really was very similar to this in the way that you had to climb up and down in the stage:

Nah man, it was not a Sega system, Snes.

By similar to Golden Axe, you mean the main character was a roided-up barbarian? And definitely not a ninja? Otherwise, the above sounds sort of like Magician Lord.Hmm, still no luck guys. Definitely not a Ninja, no. Some type of hero, I think bare upper body. Ah my memory is just way too clouded. We might not find it.But thanks for the tips guys, much appreciated.
One game I'm always trying to remember was one I played in elementary school, on an Apple II I think. I think it was a spelling game that involved shooting apples with arrows or something. My memory of it is very vague so I could have some details wrong. I know the game had apples in it though.
Trying to remember the name of a PC game based off American football except the teams are races from World of Warcraft and you roll dice to move the characters.
I need some help in identifying a game.
It's an original Xbox game, probably exclusive but not entirely confident about that. It's an arcade flight game with old style planes like these. There are also giant blimps and it features a general steampunk vibe. I remember the production values being quite good for its time.
Goddamn that was quick.Crimson Skies or Yager perhaps? I played neither but know of both.

One off the list! Thanks a lot. This game was really a bit strange but the gameplay is top notch. Seems to be quite rare?

Yeah I believe it's Crimson Skies. I've been trying to find this game for quite some time, thank you.![]()
Rime?this is a game that isn't out yet... what was that game where your a boy exploring an island? cant remember the name
Big stretch but the first thing that sort of matches is maybe Faxanadu? Can't pick a class, though. In fact I have a tough time thinking of any side scrolling game how you describe. No depth movement at all like Zelda or River City Ransom style?Okay this is going to be super vague:
It's a NES action RPG, your sprite is pretty small if I recall correctly... I THINK you can choose a class at the beginning, and from what I remember there are no stages, just one big map that you need to find your way around in. It's also a side scroller... Oh and I distinctly remember ladders you would climb.
My brother remembers the name Wizards and Warriors, but I know for a fact it's not that.

Legacy of the Wizard.
Legacy of the Wizard and Faxanadu are both side-scrolling Falcom action-RPGs, so that was a decent guess. But only Legacy of the Wizard has everything on one map and multiple playable characters. That's it!
Thanks!
And thanks for the help Wibblewozzer!
Slipstream 5000?Hey GAF,
I'm looking for an old game, I think running on MS 3.11, some futuristic 3D racer in canyons, with big over fans rotors on the vehicules. It had crazy character design and you had to go through gates in the race along the track. Anyone remember this ?
Slipstream 5000?
NP, thank you for reminding me of this game. I had tons of fun playing it back then.Oh yeah ! And it's on GoG too ! Thanks !
Edit: I found some info! It appeared to be a clone of an old ZX Spectrum game called Knot. http://www.16x16.org/games/ccw/about-original/
A game on the Super Nintendo I used to play a lot but cant remember the name!
I still remember the cover, it has a bald little boy on it.
What was the game shown at PSX that was a bunch of colorful ragdoll guys falling all over, getting hit by cars and looking silly?
That's it, thanks!Probably Gang Beasts: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qVFzs_4M09M
That's the PSX trailer and it features them fighting on trucks (and getting ran over).
