Capcom has just registered 'Dragon's Dogma Online' trademark in Europe [and Japan]

Dragons Dogma had free online interactions on xbox live, quite impressive.

But they don't want things to be free anymore (see PSN).

So they gotta shoe-horn in some sort of multiplayer no-one wants to validate PSN subscriptions, when really it will be just garbage multiplayer full of lag.

That's what I'm hoping as well. I wouldn't say it "guarantees" anything, but it's a sign of life at least.

Also trademarks happens all the time. Is it not possible that they've registered the trademark just to have it for future purposes?

Yeah, they trademarked Deep Down without any intention on announcing it for western markets.

They could even iterate as second One, adding classes and crafting mechanism.. Re working a bit the follower system.. Add new monsters and redo some texture... New story.. Old engine for the rest..

If i take the memory of what was good in DD and fuse it with a company. Il king franchise like there's no tomorrow, i can already imagine a scrubby f2p full of microtransaction

I don't get why people are going "ew online", I'd have killed for the ability to play BBI in Dark Arisen co-op with my brother.

Please let this be real, and be exactly what is quoted above me (with AI Pawns still optional).
 
What we want it to be:

The Dragon's Dogma we all know and love but with real players replacing pawns. We also want it on PC so that when the PS4 and Xbone versions are buggy messes that struggle to hit 30 fps (and 900p on the XB1), we'll have a version to play it in it's 60fps+ 1080p+ glory.

What it will probably be:

A shitty f2p (redundant cause f2p is shit) game with awful microtransactions and p2w. Gonna be on mobile too
 
iOS/android executive f2p on the way :)

Purchase resident evil skins and monster hunter skins packs for $4.99!
 
The more I think about it the more I hate this whole thing. I really just want another single player DD. Pretty much no matter what the online component is it will result in me not buying the game.

The HungryApps speculates this title as Cross-Multiplatform Title(PC-Mobile-Consoles)

Capcom also registered this trademark at Korean Intellectual Property Office(KIPO).

According to KIPO, the trademark's classes includes Downloadable mobile game software , Interactive Multimedia Computer Game Program(쌍방향성 멀티미디어 컴퓨터 게임 프로그램), and Eletronic Game Service that be provided on Mobile/SmartPhone/Handheld game device through the internet.
KIPO puts that "Interactive" class on trademark when the holders use that product as a cross-multiplatform title.

If that speculation is true, I don't think mobile version of DDO has same contents as PC or Console. But at least Mobile apps for DDO is definitely true and mobile connection is very important for DDO.

But I'm sure that this is completely new game like Monster Hunter Online, not a port with adding online multiplayer.
 
I am prepared to be super fucking butthurt over whatever this ends up being.

I know it is selfish and petty but dammit Dragon's Dogma probably was my favorite game of last gen and maybe even top 5 of all time.....

and forced online, mmo bullshit or whatever this may entail (I know it is early) kinda pisses me off lol.

I just wanted DD2 with a bigger, more varied overworld, and fist or claw based class and better graphics and engine.

Throwing co-op in there for the sake of pleasing what I (selfishly and petty-ily) think is a group that didnt like the game like I did sucks man.

I'm not even going to front and act like it isn't anything but childish butthurt because it is.

I'm pre-emptively getting it out of my system...so bare with me.

IF the speculation were true and it ended up that way, when this bombs harder than a nuclear warhead because nobody asked for this, that's really going to be it for the Dragon's Dogma series isn't it?

I refuse to be hyped.
The whole deal sounds like a MonHun Online, and even if it turns out to be a good game, i doubt we'll see it in the west.
 
Yea, i've got something to bite down on when we hear how we'll be getting pounded in the ass by this. Something feels wrong. Why can't we simply get Dragon's Dogma 2?

If we don't get DD2, it'll be because of underwhelming sales of the first game.
