First 144Hz 1440p IPS g-sync display annouced by Acer

-Acer XB270HU is the world’s first NVIDIA® G-SYNC™ enabled gaming monitor with an IPS display that offers consistent, clear images from 178-degree wide viewing angles

-Acer XG270HU is the world’s first gaming monitor with an edge-to-edge frameless display for seamless viewing and quick 1ms response time

-Both monitors sport a 27-inch display with WQHD (2560 x 1440) resolution and fast 144Hz refresh rate

Acer announces two new gaming monitors with some world first designs. The Acer XB270HU is the world’s first NVIDIA® G-SYNC™ gaming monitor equipped with IPS technology, and the Acer XG270HU is the world’s first gaming monitor with an edge-to-edge frameless display. Both of these 27-inch displays come with WQHD (2560 x 1440) resolution and a fast 144Hz refresh rate to enhance in-gaming performance.

The XB270HU is the first NVIDIA® G-SYNC™-enabled gaming monitor to feature IPS technology, which provides consistently clear images from up to 178 degree wide viewing angles. NVIDIA® G-SYNC™ technology ensures every frame rendered by the GPU is perfectly portrayed by synchronizing the monitor’s refresh rates to the GPU in a GeForce® GTX-powered PC. This breakthrough technology eliminates screen tearing and minimizes display stutter and input lag to deliver a smooth, fast and dynamic gaming experience for all the latest PC game titles. Scenes appear instantly, objects are visually sharp, and gameplay is more responsive to provide faster reaction times, giving gamers an advantage. Even in multi-monitor setups, the Acer XB270HU delivers crisp images from wide viewing angles to provide an excellent in-game experience. Furthermore, its multi-functional ErgoStand allows users to tilt, swivel and adjust the height to the most comfortable viewing position.

The XG270HU is the world’s first gaming monitor with an edge-to-edge frameless display which maximizes viewing area and provides a more seamless viewing experience for multi-monitor setups. A quick 1ms response time assures that actions or dramatic transitions will be rendered smoothly without smearing or ghosting effects. Built with post-consumer recycled ABS plastic, this monitor adorns the characteristic Acer gaming identity with a bold orange strip along the bottom horizontal frame and also outlines the base stand. For easy connectivity, the XG270HU includes HDMI 2.0, DVI, and DisplayPort 1.2.

To reduce eye strain and potential long-term damage to eye health by heavy users such as gamers and programmers, the XG270HU is built with Acer EyeProtect technologies. This includes flicker-less technology that eliminates screen flicker through a stable supply of power; ComfyView which reduces reflection from light sources on the non-glare panel, low-dimming technology that adjusts screen brightness when working in non-optimal lighting conditions, and a blue light filter to reduce blue light exposure.

Two models annouced:

XB270HU - IPS 144Hz 1440p G-sync

XG270HU - TN 144Hz 1440p HDMI 2.0 zero frame

March 2015 release, unknown prices but they won't be cheap most likely.

Sentence me to eternity of sub 30 fps games if old ;)

Today, G-SYNC enters a new era with the unveiling of the world’s first 144Hz IPS G-SYNC monitor at The International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. Engineered by Acer, the 2560x1440 XB270HU is the world’s first 144Hz IPS gaming monitor, the world's first IPS G-SYNC gaming monitor, the first IPS gaming monitor to also support NVIDIA Ultra Low Motion Blur (ULMB) technology, and one of the world’s first IPS monitors with a response time of only 4ms G-to-G.

Finally, competition for the rog swift. The price on that thing is a joke. Especially as it seems none of them actually work.

$500?

I paid $300 for my dell ips back in the day. How much do you realistically think this new monitor will go for. I need it though.

nm, just saw the rog swift is like $800

Color me stupid, but does 144Hz mean that game has to run at 144fps for optimal experience? 1440p at such frame rate sounds expensive GPU wise :D

Gsync monitors have been pretty horribly priced, it has yet to stabilize to anything reasonable IMO. Perhaps it never will though.

Being Gsync, it basically runs at any framerate you want. So not a big deal actually.

I need it in 34 Cinema landscape.

For productivity, performance and better game. your eyes sees things in a horizontal plane, and most new games work in 21:9. It goes without saying that this is the way to go. I want to g-sync but we're beyond the 27-inch. It's not feesable anymore.

Let Linus talk you through it with the LG; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KnrxNfxRK_4

The have now made a curved version, but I have not tried this so I dont know what the deal it. I'll say. that I do not want to pay more for a curve.

Dell's Ultrasharp u3415w is rolling out now and it has a slight curve;

I've had the 27-inch 1440p version since 2010 and I've been very very happy with it. It's been a terrific monitor that has held up so much abuse. It has backbleeding, but what doesnt? every apple monitor, retina display on their macbooks and imacs have that as well. It's just something we have to live with, and it doesnt annoy me.

The intimacy you have with your monitor is superior to the one you have with your big HDTV. I think I feel that when I am so close to it, it's nice for games and movies, but double nice when it is also a joy to work with when your getting productivity based shit done. My LG 60 inch plasma has terrific colors but I don't appreciate it anywhere near as much as my monitor. The Ultrasharp is probably the best electronic purchase I've ever done.

Nice. Glad TN panels are finally being moved away from. While their response times are nice, as someone who doesn't care about competitive gaming all that much, the picture quality loss has always been such a deal breaker. Always looks washed out.

Now if only they used the "Edge-to-Edge Frameless Display" from the XG270HU on the "144Hz IPS G-Sync" XB270HU they've a perfect monitorl

I want the 144Hz IPS Gsync monitor but now that I've seen the pictures of it, I want the frame and lack of bezels of the TN monitor.

Why they don't use the same frame on both baffles me.

Not being a native english speaker or tech maniac,, I'm not sure what this "Edge-to-edge frameless Display" actually mean. Extremely narrow frame for putting several monitors next to each other?

Given the RoG Swift only recently came in steady stock months after launch at an 800 dollar price range I'm sure they could easily get away with charging well over a thousand. Still, fingers crossed they don't!

can someone show me the best 1080p version of this?

I'm not sure there's one yet (nor I know if there will be) but it would be my pick as well.
I don't care for 1440p, I prefer being able to play with great performances without being forced to buy a SLI of two-three top tier GPU.
