Mmm hmm...
What's there to mhhmm about?
Mmm hmm...
not to mention, Microsoft's doing everything they can to make the xbone more powerful. 10% GPU boost sans kinect, sdk offers 80% more cpu power. not to mention they haven't even started applying dx12 to the xbone yet.
Hahaha, what? Link?
You'll be laughing out of the other side of your face once the next SDK unlocks the second GPU.
it's funny how you're extrapolating US=world in a thread that shows how it doesn't work
the rest of the world favors PS3, and while the built-in lean is probably too much to bring it to 50/50, it is definitely closer than 60/40
(plus CoD peaked at ~26m)
Responding to a question regarding the unit sales differences between Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Call of Duty: Black Ops, Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg revealed that Treyarch's latest title has now achieved 25 million units since launching in November 2010. Modern Warfare 2, he said, has sold 22 million units since it was released in November 2009.

again... the Ps3 was winning worldwide last gen too wasn't it? but the 360's popularity was SO strong last gen in the U.S that it was still able to maintain its TOTAL sales above the Ps3s. in other words, the U.S was carrying the 360, and it was working. who's to say it won't work again now with the xbone?

Which is already so little that it's negible compared to U.S/UK numbers.
Pretty impressive it is selling at that rate. Sure it didn't beat the Wii in raw numbers but for its comparative price point and lack of Ellen buzz selling to people normally outside of the market for such a device its sales are impressive. It sold to mostly gamers with a high attach rate at a moderate price at a really good clip. Good job.
This all sounds a bit console warrior-esque (not to mention being packed with defensive sarcasm, assumption and hyperbole), so I have reservations about replying to it, but FYI I'm not actually upset about PS4, or Sony's approach with it. It's a fine console and I'm glad I bought one. I'm merely noting the disproportion between what they're offering, which is sub-par in terms of hardware power and software compared to previous generations of Playstation, and their insistent, relatively empty boasts.
But hey, like I said, it's working. More power to them.
Sony pr started 23rd Nov so you can't take all of Novembers numbers. It doesn't matter how "negligible" they are. They are terrible numbers in comparison to the PS4, but still add up as a whole. If numbers outside the U.S. are between 33-37% of it's total that would put that number between 900k-1million.
In Sony PR, the holiday season started at November 23rd.

Do we know that for sure? How many PS4's are shipped?
Nah I always enjoy seeing that one dude getting quoted every pageFunny, specifically the bolded part.

Prob 20m. I have absolute zero believe that there are less than 1.5m consoles on distribution centers and retailer warehouses right now.
So about 1.5m-2m in the channels...my guess.
well the 360 technically had weaker hardware too, but it was kicking the Ps3's ass for a really long time.

why did you buy two?

Not sure about that but I do believe by years end MS will unlock 100% of its CPU w/ sdk updates.
Does Sony still sell PS4 at a loss?
The giant bomb number isn't US only. that was total. NPD is a US only outfit, but gets quoted because there is no similar service for the EU.
and modern warfare 2 sold 22 million copies TOTAL across all platforms, so the giant bomb number for PS3/360 looks accurate.
http://www.shacknews.com/article/69577/activision-reveals-sales-figures-black-ops-and-modern-warfare-2
The series has never sold particularly well on PS3- it's a multiplayer focused title, and in 2009 PSN was abysmal. no built in voice chat, no cross game chat, nothing. Live obliterated it then and is STILL better. It's not much of a stretch to come to the conclusion that the majority of console sales were on 360 and stayed there.

You are bad at this and you should stop. CoD sells gagbusters everywhere (even Japan) and the PS3 version was always comfortably on top of the European charts.
This is why NPD is absolutely cancerous for sales discussion. We might as well be using Chartzzz, because they paint a more accurate picture than this warped reality everyone has in their minds.
Still? I thought PS4 was the first console in Sony's history making money since day-1.

Now i see why MS dropped back to $399.
UK PS4 sales: 1 million of September 9
Germany PS4 sales: 1 million as of October 21
"Negligable". Yeah, stay ignorant.

Unless Sony has an unprecedented screw up (which "probably" can't happen) and MS throws down absolutely monumental amounts of cash (which won't happen due to investors being really upset already)... it's over. This gen is decided.
Considering Sony's first parties will be kicking into gear and their other exclusives this year on out, it's only going to get better for them.
Still? I thought PS4 was the first console in Sony's history making money since day-1.
This. Plus Microsoft's investors aren't going to keep allowing Microsoft to take Xbox One at a loss in the hopes of outselling Sony. Sooner or later, that's going to come to a screeching halt.

Pretty sure he was talking about rhose countries being negligible for Xbone.
It was sell at a loss at launch. Tho, i remember Sony saying that they got profitable if the customer bough a PS+ subscription and a game, but i'm not really sure.
Just you wait until they start using DX12, it'll easily go up to 150% then! I mean come on, technically they already are at 110%.
Xbox is the Joe Flacco of gaming. Sleep for 10 months of the year, but he's a beast when he finally gets out of bed.
Already has otherwise 349 would be have been the price right now.
Modern Warfare 3 is, actually.Just. Stop.
Scroll down and look at Black Ops sales pls (the best selling CoD as everybody knows).
Wiki quotes that number as ps3 only, but their sources aren't great. The best is a giant bomb article that puts it at 19 million between the 360 and PS3 as of august 2010.
http://www.giantbomb.com/modern-warfare-2/3030-24713/
This number appears to be HEAVILY tilted in favor of the Xbox though- Wiki quotes NPD as having the 360's sales at over double the PS3's for the launch month of november.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Call_of_Duty:_Modern_Warfare_2#cite_note-videogamer1-91
So somewhere around 5-7 million sounds about right, if the 19 million figure is accurate. no way is there a 50/50 split between the two platforms, the 360 was just too dominant in the genre.
