The cake got smaller and sony took the biggest chunk.
Congrats to ps4, but worries for the console industry.

You seem very certain. Please PM me your credentials. Looking forward to vetting another credible source.
It looks very optimist in both cases.
Oh so it's only console wars.
Because the statement of "ps4 is dominating xb1 in Japan" is kinda like saying the shield is outselling the ouya.
But I'm wearing a Knack avatar, you guys shouldn't listen to me.

It's my prediction, calm down. I could be very well wrong I'm not stating it as fact.
I've been pretty good with my predictions all year actually. I also think MS easily sold through that 10m shipment announcement they made early November?
Yep, I pictured a best case scenario and made my predictions.
Oh, but you seemed incredibly...factual in your posts up until this point. It's my prediction, calm down. I could be very well wrong I'm not stating it as fact.

Because it has sold more than 2m outside of US/UK that's why. People seem to act like it's been discontinued outside of those two countries.
MS will announce around 12m+ (my prediction) shipments, solidifying that fact.
That UK number, maybe, but the US one would just need December sales to be 1.4 million, or a <200k increase from November. Very plausible.
Oh, man. He was getting annoying with his so called "facts" but I never thought this would happenYou seem very certain. Please PM me your credentials. Looking forward to vetting another credible source.
The 360 came out a year ahead of the competition tough, kind of complicated to compare the two.Anyone know how this compares to the early years of the PS3 and 360? Because PS3 came out surrounded by lots of negativity and the 360 was the clear winner (In terms of sales) but towards the end the PS3 caught up.
i wish it was. Do not know the total sales numbers of consoles compared to last gen but i am sure it is less. And that is sad and will cause problems. It's not Sony's fault that MS and Nintendo fucked up.
The industry is just fine.
Oh, but you seemed incredibly...factual in your posts up until this point.
Now that we've clarified that it was, in fact, all guesswork, we can move on. Clear eyed and facing a bright new dawn, free from idle conjecture based on nothing at all.
Cheers.

I'm pretty sure it is. PS4 beat them globally every month last year. How is possible the gap is shrinking if PS4 outsold them every month. It can only grow.
I will be extremely curious to see how well PS4 sales do now that I will have a good stream of games coming out.PS4 is on Wii numbers (over PS2) until now but unlike it still didn't released any major exclusives. PS4 will sell way more than 80 million specially if WiiU and XBO doesn't make something that boost permanently their sales (big price drops, buy major publishers).
For this year there are exclusives announced like Uncharted, The Order, Bloodborne, No Man's Sky, Rime, Persona, multiplatform games like Metal Gear, The Witcher 3, Evolve, Batman, AC or The Division and console exclusive from important indies like Devolver, Jonathan Blow or the creators or Dear Esther to name a few.
And for later we also know there's stuff coming from Sony like GT7, a new GoW, TLG and new IPs from Guerrilla, Quantic Dream, Media Molecule, Bend or Sony Japan. Plus other exclusive games like Street Fighter V.
The first year may have been light in terms of exclusives and high quality games, but this won't last. In any case, PS4 sold has a tie ratio of 4.42 games per console, an insane number more typical of mid generation than from a year after release. So maybe you didn't like the game released these year, but the people who owned a PS4 bought an average of more than 4 games.
I don't necessarily think so. The wii died off early because it was a fad, and did not have the support it needed from both first and third party to do well beyond the first four or so years.Well, considering not even the Wii could surpass the PS2 it is indeed impossible.
At that time?? Probabally north of 7M, but not 8MYeah, shipped almost 10 mil. But how many they have sold trough, 7 or 8 mil. at that time???

I also think you would have to be crazy to not believe they will reach at least 80M lifetime.

PS4 will be different. I predict it will have much longer legs, and while I am not sure about the prospect of it reaching PS2 numbers, I don't think it is impossible if Sony plays their cards right, but if it does reach PS2's number, it will likely be several years after PS5 comes out.
At that time?? Probabally north of 7M, but not 8M
They sold over 1M just in US for November though, and will likely sell over 1M in Dec. so all they need is 1M for the rest of the world Nov.-Dec. which I think they probably got.
My best guess is that they are at ~10.5M for end of the year, but that is just a guess so take it as you will.

Man people are still desperate to dismiss wii sales. How salty.
That It didn't have the industry support just means the industry fucked up. That it didn't last 8 years means it didn't take as long to actually make money.
Speaking of which - I think most people believe this will be a shorter generation than the last (that appeals to less people/demographics than the last few), so I don't think the ps4 (or any console ever again) will ever be the amazing mainstream juggernaut the ps2 was.
What countries have the largest home console market after the US&UK? Germany?

Only up to page 12 parsing the thread, but the first thing that comes to my mind when taking into account both the worldwide hardware sell-through and the game sales themselves is the absolute amazement that there are still game devs in Japan that refuse to market or sell games to non-Japanese audiences and instead find themselves with negative balance sheets trying to scrounge out a living on the non-existent Japanese console market.
Japanese devs trying to appeal to the western market resulted in horrible games. They could market it all they want but they should not put the western audience into consideration when developing a title. Outside of a few scenarios they just don't excel at it.
I'll try to make some predictions, here we go:
Xbox One sales as of today:
US: 6.3M
UK: 1.7M
So, 8M total units, which means Xbox One must have sold at least 2M units in the ROTW. So, yeah, possible it has reached 10M by now.

Console gaming dead confirmed.
Just imagine what the number will jump to after their first price cut....
Still way off, they're above 10m sell through. They may not sell well outside of US/UK but it still sells.
Probably better in Canada, Mexico ect than most European countries actually.
And no US isn't 70% of sales either.
It's my prediction, calm down. I could be very well wrong I'm not stating it as fact.
This...Capcom tried this nonsense by outsourcing to Ninja Theory and we got a bastardized and terrible version of Devil May Cry.
Never again Japan, never again.
Wasn't the Wii 150 bucks less than the PS4, though? Also, there was kinda still a Japanese market for consoles...Man people are still desperate to dismiss wii sales. How salty.

Huh? Wasn't Binary Domain japanese-made?We at least got Binary Domain out it.
