Forza Motorsport 6 Announced for Xbox One

The game itself is no surprise, but the time of the announcement is. Why now ? Should we expect any relation to the event of January 21st ?

It'll be interesting to see if they expand on the next-generation open world game play of Forza Horizon 2 or if they revert back to last-generation gameplay (and outdated) with corridor racing like Driveclub.

I suppose they'll keep publishing both games alongside, Forza for track races and Forza Horizon for open world. That way they can continue releasing a new episode every year.

FM will always be a circuit racer, Horizon will always be the open world, arcade racer. They are each developed by 2 separate companies, who share tech, but that's it.

Circuit racing is not last gen or next gen, neither is open world design.

Why not?

Do you remember forza 2 vs 3? It was a complete graphical upgrade. I think there might be a team renewing the graphical engine every 4-6 years. Isn't turn 10 a Big studio?

I think we should have a city driver (forza gotham) (playground) alternanting between the other 2 and have a 3 year launch window instead of 2.

Day 1 on a decent city racer with some nice locations. Loved Driveclub, enjoyed Forza 5 and have yet to play FH2 beside the demo. Give me a city racer the same locations as PGR4 and I will be all over it.

GT brought a few extra play styles in like rallying, so while it is unlikely for FM6 it's not completely impossible.

Track/Circuit racing = outdated.

You heard it here first.

Time to NOT watch this seasons F1, heck i had invested so much in Hondas return to racing.

Seriously this thread has so many shit posts its getting out of hand.
Horizon is open world, Motorsport is circuit racing(point to point hopefully too) .
I love frikken circuit racing, i watch so many motorsport series but i dont have the budget to get to all my favorite tracks, Forza Motorsport is as close as i can get, heck i can drive my real life car on tracks that ive always wanted to visit.

If i want to just bounce around and muck about I can still do that with the spinoff Horizon series.

{Right over my head, hard to tell with some of the posts in this thread}

doesn't the cover confirm at-least night races?

Forza Motorsport 5 had working headlights that were on during the races, No night races though.
But we can hope!

All Forza fans knew it was coming but I'm glad that we got confirmation this soon. I was actually talking with a colleague yesterday about wanting to try the GT in Forza asap. Looks like my wish has been fulfilled.

Main wish list for FM6 :
- Dynamic time of day
- Revamped career with PGR4-like calendar and Horizon 2's lack of focus on absolutely getting gold in all races to win a championship. So much could be done there
- More customisation (wide bodykit, changing/removing/obscuring lights, OEM rims, etc...)
- Real brands on tire sidewall !
- Return of many tracks in their laser scanned glory (Maple Valley, Suzuka, Infineon, etc...)
- More cars obviously
- Weather if possible

I want this FM6 to be massive. I want it to be to FM5 what FM3 was to FM2, what GT4 was to GT3, what PGR2 was to PGR, etc...

This a Motorsport title, it will be all about real and fictional racetracks !

1 Buy an XB1
2 Only buy Forza games
3 Help drive down the systems attach rate
4 ???????
5 Profit

This is literally what I've ended up doing. Not intentionally but there's nothing else I really want on the console right now. Have ea access and the free gold games though.

Thanks. I think Forza would benefit more from Blur style game than a Rally style of F1 personally.

Personally I like to see something along the lines of forza "professional".

By that I mean a version where they scrap road cars entirely and have all of the professional racing championships with authentic race weekends, rules etc. So they could include all of the following (licenses permitting):

Le Mans
F1
BTCC
WTCC
DTM
Indy cars
NASCAR
World endurance championship
Blancpain Series
Australian GT
Super GT Japan
Etc etc.

Its also an easy one to expand on with dlc by adding more championships which I know is something they love to do.

That I would happily get behind.

Imo Horizon is as casual as they should ever take the franchise.

I dont think we played the same game man.

All tracks were unlocked at the get go.
All cars were unlocked at the get go.
Rental Cars were patched pretty quickly.
Prices and earnings were patched as well.
Having the CR price and a token price right underneath it.....didnt/doesnt feel like "IN YOUR FACE OBTRUSIVE"

How could you call the game a free-to-play when everything on disk could be gotten without spending a dime?
Did it take a long time initially to get the most expensive car in the game, yeah, gamers complained the game was patched quickly......so why are we still talking about the economy?

Whats peoples beef with Microtransactions if they arent anywhere near mandatory and definitately arent intrusive, its a line of text under the price of the car....how is that so intrusive as to insult the whole game and call it a free to play.

Did you really play Forza Motorsport 5 or are you just basing your opinions off second hand accounts?

I didn't even realise there were micro transactions until I accidentally hit a button and was brought to the buy screen. They're hardly intrusive at all, and the grind at the moment is fine.

I'm not calling forza 5 a f2p title, but that sentence could be used to describe pretty much any decent free to play game.

F2P games almost always have content hidden/locked behind a money wall.
Forza Motorsport has no such barrier......everything on disk can be unlocked using in game credits.

If say car X could only be bought using Tokens, then i would be flipping out at the microtransactions as well.

More than half of the people that completed Candy Crush did so without spending a penny.

I dunno. The Forza games aren't full on micro-transaction hell, but they're certainly aggresively monetised. Hell, they sell a coin doubler for F5 and FH2, so you know something's not quite right.

I hope FM6 will have a better interface than FM5. It's some little details but that make the experience totally different. The way cars are presented in the garage is less functional than in FM4 (way less filters, no choice to select by brand for exemple..) and also the photomode, what the hell : in order to share you have to add vague keywords and the different fields are no longer automatically filled... Also I hope we see the return of tuners.

Maple Valley cant be laser scanned because it doesnt exist in the real world.
It would just get remodeled i guess with more polys to share.

I believe one manufacturer handles/handled the tire model in FM5/4 so maybe whichever manufacturer that is can allow us to use their tire branding on the side.
I really really want to put white text on the side of our tires.

Fender flairs would be nice.

The keyword was "decent". There are free to play games where you can unlock everything without spending a penny. I know some devs take the piss and put pay walls in their games. I won't play them.

I had the same idea for a gran turismo spinoff. Call it "Gran Turismo: The real racing simulator".

I think expecting a single game to officially have all those licenses for series, cars and tracks is very unrealistic, but I'd certainly love it if someone came close.

Just started playing Tales of Xillia 2 that game also has a coin doubler, ability to buy levels with money, ability to buy weapons with real money, etc. Just because the option is there doesn't mean that it's bad by definition. In both games you can easily complete it without ever spending dime or grinding an insane amount unlike your average F2P game.

Calling FM5 a F2P game is a bit hyperbolic.

I expect MS will ask them to double the amount of microtransaction bullshit, just because there are hordes of people who actually keep dishing out the dough for FM5.

Cautiously optimistic that this is not the case. That new Ford is all kinds of dope.

So essentially what you are saying is that because there is an option to use real currency to purchase cars it is using a free-to-play esc model?

Even though the microtransactions are far far from intrusive....its literally one line under the CR price of the car.
The XP accelerator and CR accelerator arent in front of you, you kinda have to hunt to find them.

SO i dont get why it bothers you so much.

Yep, i'm dying to finally see some sidewall lettering and some widebody kit options.

Even things like custom front mounted intercooler/oil coolers would be nice.

I mean, they added some headlight cover options, but it would've been nice to see my Hakosuka Skyline with the fenders and external oil cooler..

Watching the announcement video on my mobile i thought the first half was actual FM6 Forzavista.
Identical camera closeups, pans and cuts, thought they nailed lighting and those small flares from light sources reflecting on the body.

Then i noticed reflections were a bit too perfect for real time graphics.

But PGR2 (and every sequel after it) were 30fps while PGR1 was 60fps.

Just saying... :P

Everybody fiending for over-fenders. We live in a post Rocket Bunny world. It's true though, the game needs more visual customisation.

I agree. I'm not saying it is F2P (for a start, it ain't free!), I'm just saying it is aggressively monetised. Goes above and beyond the season pass model.

I wonder if it will still use primarily baked shadow maps. Also, I hope they clean up their MSAA implementation, it breaks pretty much on every edge.

Anyone shocked by this? I was hoping for a Wii U relase :)
Seems that we will be getting a Forza every year, swapping with Horizon. I just hope it doesn't go the way of AC or COD in the long run.

Looking forward to the new micro transactions, then the subsequent patch to remove them.
