I'd definitely rather another anime/3D/NRS game get a slot instead of two Smash games, but the number of people a game brings out seems to be the biggest determinant of what game gets in and what doesn't. So at least with the two Smash games you get both people who like opponent-based action games, and Melee fundamentalists.

This is where I'm at. Melee is also a game that takes a lot of time (on top of the logistics issues) and might be better as a (very, very) large side tournament.

If it's really about entrants then 2 smash games seems inevitable. I'm sure both of those games would bring in loads. I'd imagine ki or ttt2 would have the least number of potential entrants. Maybe p4u2 as well.

Injustice released in April as well. I think it was not originally announced as an EVO game but got added later.

this is why melee needs to be at evo and on Sunday. It has one of the biggest and best fan base in all of the fgc. It needs to be rewarded and not thrown aside just because it's older.
