New Xenoblade Chronicles X trailer

So you are going crazy over a trailer that contains:

- 2 minutes of running through empty landscapes

- Derpy looking protagonist

Am I missing something here?

People are excited because they played Xenoblade on WII and know that it is a great game. A new one with awesome looking environments is getting people hyped.

I guess the human character models were sacrificed for the impressive landscapes and monster and models.
Look at xenogears though. It seems like they're trying to make that anime styled face directly to 3d and it looks weird.

Xenoblade Wii was the outlier if people haven't noticed.

Yup, while this game has beautiful art, you can clearly see games like red dead, and GTAV on lastgen are way more graphically impressive then X.

Lol...Read Dead Redemption...that was an barren game.

This was absolutly amazing. Wow...and finally some colors! ;)
Okay the faces look a little bit off but its nowhere as bad as Xenoblade for wii. The same goes for the jumping animations. It all looks way better than in their last game.

And the music was just fantastic!!

Looks really promising.

I was thinking the one clip they showed where the group was walking over bridges made out of what looked like trees could possibly be related to the nopon just like in Xenoblade. We know there are at least a few nopon in the main city because one of the quests is given by a nopon and is called something like "my nopon siblings". My guess is just like Xenoblade, the nopon have migrated to various locations as traders.

Yeah, it felt like that Nopon from the trailer would even join your party (for a while?) considering he's placed on the website graphic. :D

It's so easy to figure out who has played Xenoblade and who hasn't just by reading at the comments in this thread lol.

wow looks amazing the environments soo good being able to traverse all of it with mecha <3

hope the story is as awesome as xenoblade.

You don't need to play Xenoblade to be excited for Chronicles.

It was just another "why are people excited for XYZ game?" kind of question, annoying.

I know you're referring to X with the last part of that comment, but this still made me laugh since it could be interpreted as self-referencing the first game. Because they both have Chronicles in the title and all. :P

They are able to make absurdly epic landscapes, but not creating decent faces.

Fuck. Hope they change it, they had better stayed with the old Xenoblade style. The realistic style makes it look worse.

Did anyone else notice the giant ass moon at 51 seconds into the trailer?
There's also other moons in the sky throughout the trailer. So many moons.

I cannot wait. It's going to be Xenoblade on crack. I just cannot wait anymore.
My god the SCALE OF THIS GAME.

There is not another game coming out this year that I feel I NEED to own. Simply stunning. Still scraping the remains of my jaw up off the floor.

Xenoblade spoilers
Earth existed in the creation of the Xenoblade universe, it is seen being destroyed in the beginning of X. The games aren't connected.

Did you miss the end of Xenoblade?

The universe was recreated again. Another Earth could have been made as part of that, which could be the one that gets destroyed in X.

This trailer suffers from the No Man's Sky Syndrome: Just what the fuck do you do in this game besides walking/flying around in huge gorgeous environments? Dear developers/publishers: That is NOT motivating.

Other than the character faces it looks fantastic -- it looks they updated the character model textures but still.. those weird doll faces...

I also noticed the YouTube video is available in 1080p/60 FPS.... nah... it couldn't be, right? :^o

Monolith Soft's environmental designs are beyond gorgeous.

This is the most exciting thing offered by Nintendo since Metroid Prime 1.

Did you not play the first Xenoblade? Exploration was enjoyable for several reasons, and there will be a lot more enemies. They were likely removed for trailer purposes, especially if any of them would be potential spoilers.

There is videos on combat already.............

Its a sequel to a game that we already know how its played........

The purpose of this trailer was to show off the epic landscapes and give some slight story hints.

It's not Nintendo's fault you didn't watch the 45+ minutes of E3 gameplay footage answering just that. It's an RPG, what do you think you do in it?

The universe was recreated again. Another Earth could have been made as part of that.

They remade their world, there is zero chance that another Earth was spontaneously made from that that paralleled our Earth so much that there is even a United States of America with a city called Los Angeles. Xenoblade is likely just going to be used as a title in the same way Final Fantasy is.

Well, the trailer opens with your enemies fucking you up, so they'd probably come down to fuck you up more.

Their universe was the boundless ocean with the two titans and nothing else. After the reboot, you saw several galaxies recreated and Alvis mentions that there are a lot more than just them in the universe now. To say there's zero chance wouldn't be fair.

I'm not discounting what you're saying as a possibility, it's a very likely one at that. But it is not impossible for there being a connection between the two games either. Especially if revealing it involves late X game spoilers, they would want to avoid mentioning anything in that case to keep it a surprise.

I know what you do the game, but it's still a shitty trailer nonetheless. It's fine to focus on one thing, but they should still sprinkle in some variety and glimpses of actual gameplay in there to make it interesting.

But wasn't that trailer specifically meant to show off the environment? Showing off gameplay could potentially distract the viewer from looking at what they want to show off. There's been plenty of other gameplay vids over the past year, and there's still plenty of time to reveal gameplay before release.

Looks awesome, one of my main reasons for buying a Wii U in the future (unless the battle system and/or story turn out to be bad).

Then why not show it in the trailer? Have you ever seen a movie trailer that only shows characters walking around locations?

My point is that it is a shitty trailer. I know the game's most likely gonna be good.

On Nintendo's Youtube channel it's titled "Exploration trailer"

I would agree if this was like a E3 trailer of TGS trailer. But this trailer was specifically made to show environments only.
