I'm surprised Rex from XC2 is not in the list. With Mythra that has crazy critical hit rate and with skill that get heel when you critical hit, this guy can be one man army.
he's certainly OP in Future Redeemed in any case so I guess they went with that version since poppi so customizable in XC2

anyway you making me wanna play XC2 again, it's time to play XCX again

I think Rex as a character is OP because of XBC2's combat system and how you can use it. Auto-cancelling alone makes Rex quite OP, imho. They removed this aspect in XBC3, unfortunately.

this should have been a switch 2 launch title. Im waiting to buy this till I hear more about switch 2 and upgrades
Yeah I really want to hear something about this as well. I love the game but the record of Xenoblade games on Switch is one that involves a lot of blurry dynamic resolution.

The timing of the release makes me think it will not receive much in the way of upgrades though

I think Monolith Soft is making new game for Switch 2 and there is a good chance it might be follow up to XCX because they also XCDE's Future Connect which connects to XC3.

All my Xenoblade collection on Switch is digital
JP rate is cheaper for me than US$ rate
There's also 10% discount for digital

I live in third world country lol
Welp... in my country, the physical copy is €45 - €50 with sales tax included, while the digital version is €60, so it's a no brainer to go with the physical on this one. Plus, I already have all the other Xenoblade games physical, so even if the digital for XCX was somehow cheaper, I would still have went with the physical version.

Anyway, less than one week to go till the launch. :messenger_sunglasses:

I dunno I kinda feel like it was designed with switch 2 release in mind but Nintendo kinda postponed the launch almost a full year! I think they will release a version that supports switch 2 at or around launch. Just don't want to purchase and have to buy an official upgrade as well

If that's the case, and it ends up being optimized for switch 2, I won't even be mad about purchasing upgrades or whatever. I just want these amazing Xenoblade worlds to break out of this blurry prison that is the switch's overuse of dynamic resolution.

XCX is the best world they have (not from lore, characters or towns perspective but in terms of exploring a large open planet) so when it's blurry too I'll be super pissed. WiiU version didn't blur up all the time, instead it had characters that would take 10 seconds to pop into the world while you are standing next to where you know they spawn, which I greatly prefer to blurriness.

They need to say something about enhanced switch games at this April reveal. If they do, I think I can put the switch version on the shelf after I've been playing it a for a few weeks and wait to play more. Youtube spoilers will be a bitch tho.

I hope an announcement of this kind doesn't cut Xenoblade X's legs earlier than expected. Xenoblade games don't have great legs to begin with (XB2 was an exception due to many reasons).

The hype cycle comes only once, so if they drop a "wait six months and you can play this with better frame rate and IQ" it might affect the first month's sales, which are the most important.

Agreed that XCX has some tough hurdles to overcome again. The first go around the black sheep of the Xenoblade family had to work with the WiiU's small install base, now switch has a massive install base but ppl are really over it and ready for new hardware after the switch's long life. Would it do better as a launch title for switch 2? That's what I'd prefer, but maybe that wouldn't work for a remaster of an old game with a mixed reception.

It might still do well though. There seems to be more positive vibes around the game now. For me personally, I was quite bothered when I first played the game at launch and brought expectations based on XC1, but then when I went back to the game with an open mind in 2019 I adored it just letting it be its weird self. A lot of players will be returning to the game with the understanding that it does things differently, focusing more on builds and exploration rather than characters and story. And the new content might stop the story from feeling like it fizzles out.

So maybe Xenoblade X is a game whose time has come. That would be awesome if so.

Yeah i wonder how many people will have buyers remorse going in expecting it to be a story heavy game like the 3 xenoblades but instead they get story bits few and far between hours and hours of exploration and solo MMO gameplay and i say this as someone who loves X.

I would feel that way if they didn't include that new epilogue.

When comes to exploration and traversal nothing beats XCX but my biggest issue with XCX is online features.

It's because of those online features we play as avatar rather than proper characters like in pervious games.
