DRIVECLUB New Track Preview: Nakasendo, Japan

You had the same thought I did probably. I saw "Japan" and thought I was about to watch an epic city (or city/scenic) race.

Yes, or somthing more special with the Fuji. The biggest problem with Driveclub are Track, they don't really do anything to me except 2 or 3

This is not like my japanese animes!

Can't wait to try it.

I hope they've tuned the ridiculously hard A.I. - it's the only thing ruining the enjoyment of the game for me. I wish the campaign had different difficulty modes.

Looks nice. And yeah, not all the local roads around that area are that wide, but I've seen plenty of toll roads and highways close to that size in the area. Bridges look relatively authentic. Tunnels look good. I'll have to watch it again when I get home to see any details like retaining wall bricks and etc. The stone road section is interesting, can't say that i've ever seen that in that area of Japan, might exist, or it might just be a nod to the general region, which does have some old feudal era stone roads (but as far as I know, you can't drive on them).

I noticed, even on my phone, that the edges of the roadway are great. Very organic, some dirt overspill and etc.

Honestly, I really do hope we get an urban track in Japan, but not necessarily Tokyo.
Maybe Osaka around Dotonbori, or something. Also, a rural village route would be cool, maybe around Miyama...fingers crossed!

Would be awesome if they released a track pack with real life tracks. I'd love to see Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca and Nurburgring on this engine.

It looks fantastic, as usual. However, it doesn't feel too different then some of the other courses. I kind of want to see courses set in an arid desert area, maybe an Arabian Desert course or to go total opposite, maybe a track on Hawaii, where in the distance, maybe there could be lava, or the smoke from a billowing volcano. They would be sort of a call back to their awesome MotorStorm locations.

Great input. Thanks.

Sure the "tracks" are not 100% accurate (of course it's a game) but it's great to read gaffers around the world like you commenting about it. I think I read a post like yours about Scotland??

Look at Driveclub and its sexy self. It looks amazing...definitely the sexiest looking racing game on current consoles.

I'm in the US, I just have family in Japan, and our family burial site is on the slope of Fujiyama (near Fuji raceway, coincidentally), so I've driven/been driven around the area a bit.

When did they add the two corvette's? Seeing cars from other manufactures other than European manufactures has regained my interest.

Sugoi desu ne~!

They added the '15 Stingray in the last update.

This new update brings the ZR1.

Why? Isn't it more challenging without the replay mode...thus more fun?

I've never used the replay mode on FH2, it feels like cheating in a way...at least for me.

Replay as in watching your lap again from many different angles replay, guess you meant rewind ;)

Well, it's more that I really don't like the basics of the game and it's really not my kind of racing game. I want to not try to like it over and over.
Yeah, I have a weird relationship with it. And when they hopefully patch in some kind of difficulty slider for AI and penalties I can start really liking it.
If the Tour is frustrating you why not just make your own single events? You can adjust the opponent AI there.

Love the architecture of the pillars holding up the roads winding down the mountain. Bridges look amazing.

All so good. I would rather see it first with a clear sky and during sundown or something like that

I have this game but god do I suck ass in driving, do you all have any guides of how to drive and play better? I always have been sucky in driving game.

Basically me. I returned Driveclub because I got bored and it didn't work. But Corvettes and Japanese race tracks... Two of my ultimate weaknesses combined. I still can play the game even without a license. I just can never re-download it. Maybe I should just for the season pass and commit myself like I did Bloodborne.

All I was saying is thank you for sharing your experience about driving around these roads.
Peace.

First 20 secs... My first thought... that's Ridge Racer!

Coming out of a tunnel, with a right hand turn, then a sweeping left handed over a white bridge? Anyone else think that? Loosely inspired perhaps?

Just, just that one bit though, then I returned to it being Driveclub, looks glorious as usual!
