Shouldn't Nintendo be embarrassed RE: Remaster isn't on Wii U?

I mean it was released as a GameCube exclusive. The Wii U should be perfectly capable of running the game given it's on PS3/360.

I dunno. Given Nintendo's history with this game, it just seems pretty shameful to not have this available to their current (extremely) loyal customers.

And I might add, Revelations 2 having no association with 3DS is also quite off putting considering the circumstances in which this IP (Revelations) made it's name to begin with.

As a long time Nintendo fan, I guess I'm just a bit confused as to why Nintendo thinks they can associate this brand with their hardware as a selling point when we are where we are right now. Like, next time there is a new Resident Evil sub IP, I'll make sure to remember that Nintendo hardware is a dead end road.

Nintendo just doesn't care about 3rd party support. They want 3rd partys to come to them and not the other way around.

This is capcom's doing. The OP should pose the question in that direction. I know there are some capcom folk on gaf

You can run the game on Wii mode. If Capcom didn't want to port it Nintendo wasn't going to pay for it when they can put the money elsewhere.

It's very possible the Wii port will end up on the eShop, so it's not really that big of a problem.

Plus, the disc can already be played in Wii mode.

They won't even include the necessary item to power up the device they are selling you. I think the "shame" bridge has been crossed long ago.

But it is playable on WiiU, twice in fact.

Winner by technicality!

Seems Nintendo went with Monster Hunter since that's were the money was. REmake on GameCube met sales expectations, then Zero didn't. Revelations on 3DS underperformed, same later on Wii U.

Nintendo could do a Sony and pay/port to their platforms like Sony is doing with Revelations 2 on Vita. But again, is not like there's this hatred between them and Capcom, so is not "lol Nintendo and third parties".

EDIT:
And yeah. They could just re-release the Wii version digitally on Wii U for $10. No widescreen though.

I Dont mind about RE remaster that much. It already came out on the GC and then again on the Wii, so its fine for me here.

But Revelations 2? I be lying if i am not disappointed about Nintendo not getting it.

Why should they be embarrassed? It's a remaster they should be happy they aren't part of this remaster/rehash trend. NEW > Remaster. Not saying remastered is a bad thing but not getting a remastered game should not be their concern at all. Honestly the people paying for remasters should be embarrassed especially remasters of some games that are barely a year old....(TLOU/GTA5) If anything Capcom has much older franchises that would deserve a remaster more same for Rockstar. Would have gladly taken a Red Dead Redemption Remaster over GTA:5 as I'm sure most people here would :D

The game did have a 16:9 mode, but it just stretched the image from 4:3. Prior to the latest HD release, the only way to get widescreen was to run the game through Dolphin on PC.

Didn't they just release info that RE: Revelations kept selling on 3DS even after it's original release? Pretty sure the 3DS version outsold all the console versions.

But yeah, the game is already on the GC and Wii, and even though they are not in HD, they are still the same game.

Capcom, as well as every other third party, have very good reason not to put games on WiiU, of their own volition. The ball is perpetually in Nintendo's court.

It doesn't change the fact that it's their decision and the OP should be asking them.

The exact details of why the game is on vita are not privvy to the public and the reasons listed here are simply speculation.

Did the first game on 3ds not do well or something?

Yeah, this one is a strange decision by Capcom given that they are supporting the 3DS but they don't put the sequel to one of their biggest 3DS games on the 3DS? Not too sure how they came to that decision

The fact that the first game got multiplat ports might indicate this, but still this game is best played on the 3DS, I have both the PS3 and the 3DS release and with CPP the 3DS version is really a blast. The PS3 version felt too much of a game blown up to fit the HD screen which it is.

I agree, however I was hoping Nintendo had enough pride to secure a release that was very notable in their past hardware history. It just seems very odd as well considering their current relations with the Monster Hunter IP.

Don't forget Revelations 2 is not only shunning 3DS but the WiiU as well.

Revelations started as a 3DS exclusive and was later ported to WiiU, PS3, 360 and PC. The sequel ain't touching Nintendo at all and is still coming out in 5 platforms. That's one more home console than what Revelations 1 appeared on.

No the OP should not be asking Capcom as we already know Capcom's reasons.

I think it was Capcom USA's former VP that had stated the publisher had more projects planned for Wii U back in 2013, and not all of them were ports either. Clearly, they cancelled them after watching Wii U's sluggish install base growth and underwhelming software sales. The Wii U was not a console Capcom felt was a wise platform to invest in.

Setting aside the Wii version...

I doubt Nintendo is embarassed. It's not a 1st party or even 2nd party IP. It's 3rd party and they have little control. That and RE hasn't been a HUGE deal on Nintendo systems since RE4 on the GCN. I mean, the 3DS game was good, but then it got ported to everything and upgraded.

Basically: Nintendo doesn't care, because it's not one of their games.
