American Sniper is coming on strong, so Bradley Cooper might knock out Gyllenhaal. I put Chazelle in 'cause I like Whiplash, but I wouldn't be surprised to see Ava Duvernay get a nom.

Best Actor category seems crazy crowded this year. I was hoping Ralph Fiennes would get a nom but there were a lot of fantastic performances this year that will probably edge him out.

Out of all the films I've seen, I'm also backing J.K. Simmons Best Supporting actor win the most. It was a perfect role for such a character actor.

I also would like some recognition in the director category for Damien Chazelle for Whiplash who did a fucking fantastic job. Imitation Game was such a zzzzz movie, despite the fact Cumberbatch brought his A game and Alan Turing's story is amazing, but the film was so blasé in its direction that they should not have Mortem whathisname on the list.

So awesome that things like costume and score get announced right before screenplay and picture.

I remember a good 10 years ago when Best Original Score was like the third or fourth last award at the actual ceremony. (I think it was when Williams' "Memoirs of a Geisha" lost to Santaolalla's "Brokeback Mountain" despite having won every music award earlier that season.)

Nice The Tale of the Princess Kaguya got nominated. Really surprised The Lego Movie didn't make in there though.

I cheered a bit when Transformers 4 did not get nomination for best visual effects!

3 superhero movies got nominations for VFX. :D
