Windows 10: The Next Chapter - Media Briefing Details (Phil Spencer speaking)

I choose to believe this conference will be awesome for PC gaming.
I know this will not happen, but fuck it if I'm going to be disappointed in advance.

Your optimism will only fuel your future rage.

I expect vague plans with nothing concrete.

I love the idea of Xbox on windows. Instead of trying to protect your console by holding exclusives to the console itself have a platform for games including exclusive games and content. Have it built right into the fabric of your operating system. A lot of devs would find that appealing to sell across a much larger install base. Console sales does nothing for Microsoft. The console is only the vehicle for selling you content. Just open up that content to a much wider base of (hopefully) interested customers and now you have something special.

No one pays MS any license fees when they release a PC game. So if people switch over to PC, MS will only make money on the OS sales.

They could still use those exclusives to drive folk to their digital store-front. If you have enough users coming to your store for those games other developers will want to be on there as well, that's where your additional revenue comes in.

Major Nelson tweeted to this new account that follows him and Xbox only.. unannounced project for the event ??

I think Microsoft is very focused on building an ecosystem right now, much more than they're concerned with money from license fees.

I hope you can have the start button on desktop version just bring out the usual Programs/Documents/etc instead of that extra bloat crap on the side

You mean the live tiles held within the start menu? Yeah you can just remove them I believe. I love them tho!

If u mean the start screen as in windows 8 then yes that's totally hidden on desktop/docked devices

Perhaps its Halo Wars 2 by Decisive Games.

Earth Defence Force
PC

...thats the best I got right now.

doubt those are the games..

the display picture of the account was of a knight that looks like the cover of dark souls before changing it to a green picture

Yeah the only thing they can do is try and compete with Steam. Good luck with that MS.

if i see any ad's in my desktop interface/startmenu ,that isn't part of the store screen, windows 8 will be my last MS O/S.

That's my fear.

Single-handedly killing the last bastion of freedom in mainstream computing.

I'm concerned about that possibility as well.

Microsoft position of power in the market due to their OS could allow for them to attempt something along those lines.

This is MS they will find some way to ruin everything they always do.

Yeah, but Microsoft has been irrelevant to PC gaming for years now. They even publish their own stuff on Steam. If they had huge power over it, that would be one thing, but they just don't.
