Saw this on Stephens FB.

Stephen looked like a member of Backstreet Boys. :D

The Barrowman looks like he just came from an audition for The Lost Boys.

You dont say
What were you expecting to happen? Is it the character itself you have a problem with, or the storyline? (Or perhaps both?)

The reason I ask is because I'm wondering if this backlash is due to the character becoming more prominent, or just the storyline she's been given. (I should of included that in my previous post. It comes off snarky, which was unintentional.)

I think it's a lame storyline for Felicity. I'd rather they give her something better for her to rank up as a crimefighter beyond tech support and damsel in distress (which to be fair, they've been doing a bit).

The love story with Oliver, the way it's handled? I don't think it's very good or interesting. And you're right, Oliver is probably more to blame cause he comes off as such a petty, insecure douchenozzle at times.

And all it did was relegate Diggle to being everyone's relationship counselor.

See, this is how I feel too. As I said, I'm no fan of the way they're handling the story, but I don't attribute it to the character at all. I think the way she handles things (mostly) is well within her right. She gets put in some pretty awful positions.

And I'm probably acutely sensitive to it because of how past love interests for Oliver have been handled. Laurel, Sara, Helena, Shado and now Felicity. 4 out of the 5 of those characters have all been subject to fan backlash, and that stands out to me. Of course some of their storylines def deserved scrutiny (Laurel's never ending doom spiral, Helena's wacky priorities) but it just seems like a trend with this show, and I notice it here at GAF a lot. (Though this is mainly the only place I discuss the show.)

Now it's happening on The Flash too with Iris. And Caitlin is being put in the old school Felicity position. (Popular, "better" option that just hints at something with Barry.) But what will happen if she suddenly shows interest in Barry, depending on how the Ronnie situation plays out?

These characters are not infallible, and I think constructive criticism is great, but to me it just seems like dog-piling sometimes. But people should have their own opinions obviously, and I'm probably not gonna sway anyone. But I just have been picking up a lot on this lately, and it seems very odd to me.

I have a feeling that when we bring up our disatisfaction with the characters were are talking about the writers. "Laurel is so useless ugh!" probably means "The writes have no clue what the hell to do with the character." At least that's how I've always taken Arrow-GAF and our discussions of the characters.

I think why we target Felicity so harshly now is that her character has changed drastically from season to season (and not for the better i.e love triangle). I rooted for Felicity as she was the outcast; stuck in the IT department and suddenly thrown into the madness that is Oliver's world. Would falling in love with Oliver that odd? No, I don't think so. He's attractive and she spent a lot of time with him. She knew however, that they could never be together as they're two different people who want two different things. Ray Palmer comes in and their relationship to me isn't that out of the norm, he is charming and that brings Felicity in, but it also gives her a chance for a normal relationship. Ok good! But NO! The writers have to make Oliver all jealous when he'll be back to banging Helena or Laurel or Nyssa or whoever in no time. Yes, Oliver and his writing is to blame, but it just stands out more when the characters we've come to love are sucked into Oliver's love life.

I hope this makes some sense.

I'm guilty of talking smack about the characters, but it's the writers I'm talking about.

Everyone just instantly falls in love with Felicity. Feels trite to me.

Anyway, re: the return of
Deathstroke. From that article, it sounds like he might go up against Ra's al Ghul and get killed, just so they can show us how badass Ra's supposedly is.
I really, really hope that doesn't happen.

My dislike of Felicity this season has everything to do with how they've moved her away from what she was good at and shoehorned her into a catch-all love interest.

Also Roy has probably been my favourite character this season because he just cut through all the bullshit.

And I think that's totally valid. As I said before, I don't absolve the writers in any way from this. They are ultimately responsible. But I don't think everyone is attributing it to the same basis as you are. Some of it seems very irrational, and misplaced. But that's just from my own perspective.

The reason I brought any of this up is because I was starting to feel a bit distraught with the tone of things in Arrow GAF, and I was probably feeling sensitive about it because this is my one outlet to talk about this show really. (As GAF is with many shows.)

I get to show my irrational side now, because even though Roy has been mostly good this season, I still have a hard time rooting for him. I think he'll need to stay clean for at least the rest of the season before I can really warm up to him.

Roy is flippin' great. No drama. Just stands around quietly until he's called in to fight worse than Oliver.

can't wait for Roy vs Merlyn

If we ever got a Roy/Merlyn fight I want a Roy flip and a Merlyn reaction that's part confusion, part amusement and part disbelief and then Malcolm putting him down in one shot.

I want the fight open with Roy playing flipper while watching Flipper, then get a surprise attack by Merlyn which he doges by flipping out of the way, behind a table which he flips as a small defensive wall. In the ongoing fight he then proceeds to flip Merlyn out of a window while screaming angrily.

I think the Olicity thing died because this season we all realized that this is a CW show and Felicity is the real protagonist. In previous seasons people wanted the ship because Oliver was the main character and he keeps getting with terrible girls and we thought he deserves better, but in this season we realized that Oliver is a terrible love interest and sort of an asshole and a nice girl like Felicity really deserves better.

Season 1-2 told a superhero origin story, but season 3 is sort of like DC Twilight where a relatable every-girl has to deal with loving a good-looking dude who's totally mysterious and really good looking but is also an asshole that treats her badly.

Rather than focus on building up Oliver's love life, I'd like it if the writers tried giving him some personality. Presently, Oliver is an uninteresting brood, and there's not much else to him. The few attributes I can think of describing him are pretty much all negative. I'm not asking or wanting him to be like Barry, but I would actually like for him to be an actual character at some point.

This. I want this.

Guys thinking about it now if we actually get a
Slade+Merlyn+Ollie team up against Ra's
I'm going to and cry at the same time

Come on. This is a DC series. I say she will come back one way or the other. Maybe she gets a mustache and a monocle and becomes Gentleman Ghost, who knows. But she will be back.

I hope you're right. Shado needs to come to Starling city and show all those girls what it takes to be Arrow's girlfriend :)

And please give her costume inspired by this:

.

This so much. Right now Ollie is the Arrow and that's it, Ollie himself has no personality. Now that everyone in his life pretty much knows he's the Arrow except for Thea, it seems the writers are ok just having him be the Arrow and ignore Ollie

Finished with S2. I giggled so badly at the scene the Arrow gang are walking in slow motion all Michael Bay'y towards the enemies because they looked fucking ridiculous. Like everybody had a costume on and nobody thought to say "you know gang, when there's so many of us together we look so fucking stupid" haha.

Gotta say the story peaked like 2 episodes prior to the finale. And what's her face finally was in a show she didn't kill :P

Loving everything the Flash more than Arrow. Barry Allen is such a lovable geek compared to Ollie. The fact Felicity and him
didn't hook up still stings
. I'll probably catch up with S3 at some point within the next week.

Spoilers from EW:
Q. Will Team Arrow actually tell Laurel that Thea killed Sara?

A. That’s the big question once Laurel joins the team. “Laurel will find out who killed her sister,” Katie Cassidy tells me. “The audience will be surprised by her reaction. I feel like I wouldn’t be surprised if Laurel lost it on Thea, but people will be surprised and excited.” As for the big “Canaries” episode coming up, Cassidy says, “There’s going to be some crazy badass scenes of the Canaries fighting.” Make of that what you will.

Felicity was great as a bit player. They just shoved the pairing down our throats and tried to elevate her to something that she wasn't prior.

That term is so overused. It's a real cheap way of saying "this thing happened but I didn't like it therefore it was forced".

The downside to that is that one of them will probably end up killed, just to up the ante.

Right now, though, none of them stand a chance against Ra's solo. They're all roughly evenly matched, and Ollie couldn't even land a hit on Ra's, who wasn't breaking a sweat.

Meanwhile, Barry could just run by and destroy him, and that would be that.

Did anyone post the Ep 12 Synopsis yet?
MALCOLM MAKES AN OFFER TO HELP TEAM ARROW — Still operating without Oliver (Stephen Amell) and desperate to stop Brick (guest star Vinnie Jones), Team Arrow is forced to consider Malcolm’s (John Barrowman) offer to help shut Brick down as Malcolm has a personal score to settle with the felon. Roy (Colton Haynes) and Laurel (Katie Cassidy) point out that the team could use some help to save the innocents of The Glades, but Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) is adamantly against it. They look to Diggle to make the final decision. Meanwhile, the flashbacks chronicle Malcolm’s descent from kind-hearted father and husband to cold-blooded killer after the murder of his wife. Jesse Warn directed the episode written by Beth Schwartz & Brian Ford Sullivan (#312). Original airdate 2/4/2015.
Oh and the title for Episode 16 is:
The Offer
