Wii Titles (SMG2, Metroid Prime trilogy and Punch Out!) Announced for Wii U eShop

I doubt they'll release games like MK or Smash, since there's MK8 and Smash4. Zangeki no reginleiv has online feature, so we can wait and see.

Games with online features aren't going to support them on the Wii U, since they had to shut down Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection in May of 2014. No online play for Reginliev and no leaderboards for S&P2.

Looking at the DKR2 thread today got me thinking..

This is a PERFECT way of Nintendo releasing/re-releasing Excitebots. It never made it to Europe unfortunately and i've wanted to play it forever!

Yeah, I'm talking about that if they're going to reduce the price more or not because of this.

Meh, was excited to see these games show up until I realized I'd either have to play them at 480p on a 60' (bleh) or I'd have to use a Wiimote and nunchuck with the tiny ass Gamepad screen...awesome. The price is right, the limitations are not.

I hope you guys get it. Best $5 wii clearance game I ever bought, lol.

Then you won't be buying MPT. What a pity, because it's a fantastic pack of fantastic games, for a fantastic price.

PSA: The first post in this thread is magical. Trust me.

Such a shame. I did fancy replaying them to be honest but I don't want to play with a Wii remote :(

For $10, you should buy them anyway and try to power through it. You most likely aren't going to find a deal like that again.

OK, I promise I read through the thread and did not see an answer to this question:

What kind of controller is needed for player 2 in Mario Galaxy 2 for coop mode?

Another wii remote (no nunchuk needed) buuuut the "coop" barely qualifys as a 2 player mode, the second player basically can use the pointer to help stun enemies and collect star bits.
Probably useful for young or inexperianced players but most people will probably end up bored.

They're not going to go back through 3 games and remove all the motion control retooling just for an eShop port. Besides, everyone and their mothers should have a Wii Remote and Nunchuck, and in this case it vastly improves the gameplay. Accept that games with motion controls ingrained into their gameplay aren't going to be playable on dat Gamepad, and move on. I'll spoil it for y'all; you're gonna need a MotionPlus for the Skyward Sword re-release. Just saying.

And my goodness, are people still not understanding you need a Wii Remote for these after 44 pages of it clearly stating as such in the OP?!

I don't have a seperate sensor bar for my wii u, and I can't play smg 2 on my tv. Playing on my wii u screen seems to work fine. When wii mode asks which screen i'd like to choose I can't use my wii remote to choose tv, all i Can do is press + and wii u shows smg2 on gamepad screen

You can use the analogue of the nuchuck/classic controller attached on the wii remote to move the wii remote cursor on the wii u menu. Try this

There is a few controle options in Metroid Prime for wii as well, you will have to get used to traversing about with wiimote aiming but
with free look disabled when locked onto enemies I didn't think the combat was that much different from the Gamecube games. Apart from prime 3 which threw in a few other motion specific things like tearing shields off enemies.

I've heard that thumb drives can only read/write so many times? Only thing lying around I have that could contain MPT :\

Also, worst comes to worst and I don't have proper storage, can I just buy MPT off the eShop without downloading it, so I can get that £8.99 price?

You can use a thumb drive as a way to store games but I wouldn't play games off of it. Buy and download MPT on it then transfer it to the internal drive when ready to play.

You should be able to buy it even if you don't have the space. At most you'll get a notice saying that there's invalid space but it'll still be in your purchase history.

That isn't how it works on 3DS. It actually stops you from buying unless you can download it immediately. Don't know about Wii U.

Jesus.

Is it safe to use an external without a power supply if you have the Y cable?

I could just use my old ps4 HDD

I've had my Wii U hooked up to an external USB drive powered via a Y cable since launch, everything seems to be ok. You have to feed the drive power off of both USB ports or it won't work.

Shouldn't these games be classified as Virtual console games? :/ That aside, this is just another reason I need to get a Wii U. >.>

Will be picking up all three games coming to North America. I missed out on each for various reasons and always wanted to play them. Not a bad deal at all.For a little over $30 because of tax I'm getting 5 games. That's an amazing deal.

I hope they let us know what games are coming after January in NA.

The only way I'm buying Prime Trilogy is if it has Gamepad input!

Guess you won't be buying it then. A shame. The Metroid Prime games simply play much better with the pointer controls. You could always find a gamecube and try and track down the original versions of MP1 and 2 and be out a close to a hundred dollars if not more.

I know Nintendo won't do this, but I really hope they patch in Classic Controller/Gamepad support to Donkey Kong Country Returns to work like the 3DS version. It's what Retro should have fucking done in the first place. This game requires really precise controls and the Wiimote basically ruined the experience for me.

Not really. You can get a functioning GCN for about $40, and MP 1 & 2 for under $20 each.

I'm buying them all if it means we will get a sequel or a HD remake in the future. Hell, I already own two copies of MPT, but I will be buying this too.

Thanks for help.

I never had a wii, but are 3rd party remotes/nunchucks decent?

For all I'll use it I'd rather spend £10-15 than £40 odd for Nintendo ones

Yeah, that should be sufficient.

The HDD built in the PS4 is a 500GB, 2.5 inch, 5200rpm one.

I am using one with the exact same specs. It's connected just with an Y cable and works like a charme for more than two years now.
