Just finished playing up till the first boss of HOTD Overkill. Handcannon shells are surprisingly sturdy and you can rapidly fire without getting over tired. They do weigh slightly more than the usual gun shells but I really like them and look forward to trying out dual wielding :D Game itself is like a really really intense Umbrella Chronicles, sans story. The atmosphere and presentation are top notch!

Sucks man. My second Xbox is still away getting fixed, so no SFIV for me :(

This one lasted about 11 months, first red ring. The one I had before RRoD's twice before it got stolen alongside a bunch of other shit from my apartment. I hope it RRoD'd again the moment that arsehole plugged it in.

Great news. Looking forward to how the hand cannon's compare to the Nyko's. We fucking love our rail shooters.

If you're going to buy a stick, get a HRAP3 from Play-Asia or something. Practically the same price and the parts that Hori use are from the Japanese arcade manufacturers, not too sure how MadCatz goes about getting their supplies but I'm thinking it isn't the same guys. Why the heck everyone is wanting these MadCatz sticks for is beyond me - they haven't created a great steering wheel in years, let alone a fighter stick.

Few SRK boys and girls are a bit miffed over the quality of them too.

FYI: The HRAP EX for the 360 doesn't use arcade buttons, it only uses an arcade joystick. The buttons are Hori and apparently rather average.

That's all well and good... if you have a PS3. Not so many viable options for 360 owners.

I just ordered a SF4 TE stick through JB. I'm pleased that I could get one through a local retailer (for at least some warranty support) for a quasi-reasonable price.

Now we play the waiting game...

Oooh, good price on the Arcade + Halo Wars.

Halo Wars at $80. Excellent, that's the cheapest I've seen it. I've been doing pretty good on my "don't pay more than $80, even for new-release AAA games" rule for the past 12 months. I should have picked up MGS4 when I saw it at Kmart at this price, but the cheapest it can be got for on our shores is $90.

Edit: AAAaaaand, the delivery guy just showed up my door with my repaired 360! Today is gonna be a great day.

Can I ask something to AusGAF?

I'm a uni student, I lodged a tax return last year and received the full amount back and I'm also working two casual jobs.

Do I get this Krudd Money? Or not? >_>

It's more the controllers I'm interested in, since I'd probably want two to put in my living room. I'm not really into fighters for the competitive online play but I have a lot of friends that like to go a few rounds when we're hanging out and buying two sticks for that is bit of overkill. And buying only one stick isn't really an option, since I don't want to hand my friends a controller and pull out my stick like a massive douchebag.

I dislike raising console differences because I think most of the time they are pathetic, but SFIV seems to be the type of game that is relatively better on PS3 merely because of controls. Mostly everyone I know who multiconsoles has bought it for the PS3; whether because the default 360 pad is junk for fighters, or because they bought a HRAP3 last year when the USD-AUD was literally the same exchange rate.

As for the MadCatz controllers, most sane people have just grabbed a Saturn & USB pad. But eh, anything is better than 360 pad.

Trust me, if I had a PS3 I'd be getting SF4 for it :lol

The 360 pad really is junk. At the moment, the game is just frustrating to play. I just don't have enough money to get a PS3 at the moment unfortunately.

There are a lot of viable alternative controllers for PS3- many arcade sticks, Saturn Pads etc but it's pretty harsh for 360 only owners. The SF4 TE stick, HRAP EX and HRAP EX-SE are pretty well the only decent options I know of. Considering that ordering a standard HRAP EX from Play Asia costs about the same as the SF4 TE through JB- the TE is probably the best option going for 360 owners in this barren country :(

Is it worth looking at this? I didn't even realise they made it anymore, but it has everything I want... bat-top, concave buttons and it's built like a brick shithouse. I don't know how it was manufactured whilst flying under the radar (I can only assume it's been mass-produced from the guts of a 360 controller... perhaps) but it's the cheapest stick I can find which will do the job well enough.

Definitely worth considering.

You're not going to get the one for workers earning under $100k because you didn't pay any tax. If you'd paid even $1 tax you would have been eligible. I don't know how the student one works, you may be eligible for that.

i am also curious about this stick, cherry switches on the joystick is a good start but i am unsure about the other parts involved. would like to see one opened up or know any impresions of anyone who has used one though.

See, parts is not a major issue for me because I just want something I can mod anyway. If it will fit Happ-knockoff parts, then it can fit Happ-genuine ones. And they're all dirt-cheap.

First thing is fixing that god-awful colour scheme :lol

OH SHIT I SPOKE TOO SOON, NOT

From Kotaku, who seem to be the only people Nintendo Australia speak to;

Yesterday we mentioned the long, painful twelve-month wait we've endured for news of Club Nintendo launching in Australia. Today we can let you know that news is imminent. Nintendo dropped us a line just moments ago to say they "should have an announcement next week". They seemed excited, so expect this announcement to be good news.

http://www.kotaku.com.au/games/2009/02/club_nintendo_news_on_the_way.html

I'll believe that when me shit turns purple and smells like rainbow sherbet.

Vook has stated that if its real he will smash his DSi.

I dare them, if they do Club Nintendo in the next week I will smash my DSi.

They won't though, what we'll get is a lunch date a month away. Which means we will make the one year date.

That is exactly what I was thinking... anyone know of any 3rd party 360 controllers/sticks that are easily obtainable in this country?

Damn, I'd get a SF4 pad or even a crappy Hori EX2 if I could just walk down to the shops and buy one...

Can anyone help me out?

Ordered this morning, $218 shipped with Australian Air Express, delivery in 1-3 days. Received a phone call within about 10 mins from Gamesmen confirming my order, telling me that they were in stock and would ship shortly. About half an hour after that received a consignment number saying that it had been shipped.

If the product is as half as good as the customer service, I'll be one seriously happy chappy!

Will do! Keep in mind though, there's no turbo (not a big deal) and I don't think there's a headset jack on there. Neither of which bother me, but it's something to consider.

Someone needs to explain Ruddbucks to me. As far as I know, I am at least eligible for the $900 since I paid tax last financial year / filled out my tax return. However I'm also a student (who doesn't get any Centerlink benefits), does that mean I'm eligible for more? I read something about students earning over 11k or something possibly being eligible for 2x900.

That would be fuckawesome. I go to uni FT 4 days a week and still manage a decent 20k wage.

Wow! I'm not that high (in uni hours or pay :lol) but I hope it's true! Someone should really tell me the facts before I spread this (potential and likely) bullshit further though.

You'll get $900 as someone who works. But if you don't get YouthAllowance, Austudy, etc, you're not eligible for the student one.

However, if you're 19/20 and you're family gets Family Tax Benefit B, you may be eligible for the Back to School Bonus of $950. You have to do some administrative scheme though.

The fact that you have to already be on benefits to get the bonus as a student is bloody stupid.

Ah damn. Is that back to school bonus only for high school though? Or is that something else I was reading about. Anywhere official I can find some info about this? Thanks

Didn't Ruddbucks(tm) get changed to only single income families getting the payment? So for instance, if you and your partner work then you aren't eligible, right?

I can't say I needed it anyway. Seemed a bit odd giving people a bunch of money that aren't particularly in need.

It was never for people who need it. It was for people who don't need it so they could spend it and prop up retailers for a little bit. If you went out and bought $900 worth of gaming gear from a local retailer you did exactly what they wanted you to do. Anybody who worked, paid tax and earned under $100k is eligible.

Everything anyone needs to know is located on the ATO website

Thanks for that. Looks like I am only eligible for the Tax Bonus Payment. Oh well!
