Cross-post with the arcade stick thread, FYI:

BTW, it has a 25-pin female connector on the back of it, that I'm not really sure of. Will most likely pull it apart tonight (pending investigation of warranty stickers) to see how the put the thing together.

I'm very interested. Where did you get it?

you reckon it's worth canceling my TE pre-order @ JB to get this?

www.gamesmen.com.au and search for "tank". Be wary though - they have them for both 360 and PS3.

I've not laid hands on either of the Matcatz sticks, but IMO this would have to kill them. I've always preferred the concave-style clicky buttons and bat-top, so I'm going to be fairly biased. I'll lay out the pro's and con's of this stick (for 360) anyway:

Pro's:
* Bat-top joystick with 8-way gate (I think... at least it feels like it)
* Concave, "clicky" buttons
* Rock-solid steel case
* Cheap (stick + next-day delivery was $218)
* Same button layout as the Matcatz sticks
* Is in stock NOW

Con's:
* No headset jack
* Guide button does not have LED's
* No artwork (if that's your thing)
* Can't be custom fitted with other components as easily as the TE/SE (I suppose, haven't ripped the thing open yet).
* Ugly colour scheme

awesome, so you already have it! Really look forward to seeing whats on the inside. So if it has a 25-pin female connector on the back I assume it also has a usb output for (either ps3 or 360 depending what you got) just out of interest did you get yours for ps3 or 360?

would be cool if the 25 pin can output to standard usb with one of these
http://www.qualitycables.com/USBG-LPT25.html
could mean you could use this stick on both 360 and ps3 if it bypased the 360 pcb part

This is the 360 one, but I would imagine that the PS3 one has an identical look to it, USB and all.

Edit: My mistake... it's actually 15-pin VGA-style female connector. Still beats the hell out of me what it might be used for.

nice. thanks shaneus. what kind of warranty do you get with it?

I hope the THREE HUNDRED dollar price tag on the DSi means they intend to keep on selling the DS Lite. Perhaps even for a cheaper price so if mine ever carks out or I drop it I could replace it with a like for like replacement

12 months it says on the box. On the receipt: "Receipt required for refunt or exchange. Refund on unopened goods only. Faulty goods exchanged for identical item only. All refunds, exchanges, faulty goods within 7 days of purchase." So, the normal stuff.

It does. Nintendo Australia has confirmed this. Don't worry.

Hi guys, long time lurker.

Just wanted to drop to my Australian co-patriots the link to a podcast myself and a few buddies started up. With GFW and 1UP Yours (as we knew it) being gone, we felt slightly compelled to give it a bash. To give you an idea of tone, most of us are from a combination of Something Awful, Hyper and PC Powerplay forums. Some of us have freelanced for a few Aussie publications and admined the odd site over the years, but we're certainly industry outsiders.

We're under no illusions of being as professional as any of the big network shows, but we're trying to be a bit more off the cuff.

http://www.akimbopodcast.com/

Any feedback is appreciated, we're still experimenting with the format. You Gaffies know your shit so if you think you'd be able to sacrifice an evening to Skype - we're pretty liberal as for people jumping in to say "Hi!" and regale us with tales of a week's gaming.

Hey ppls,

Just wondering where the cheapest place to find the House of the Dead: Overkill - Big Bang Box is? I remember it was on the JB hifi website but I cant seem to find it anymore.... Is it still being sold?

Awesome, will listen. I used to read Hyper and PCPP every month for a good few years (as well as the awesome n64gamer) Would i recognize your names?

BTW, that's the stock-standard response for any item out of stock at CD Wow. I had two separate orders for single items that I eventually cancelled after receiving this message six or so times for about a month and a half. Not surprised they got hammered on orders for SFIV.

Damn. I guess if it looks too good to be true, it probably is. Does anyone know how they managed to undercut every other player by $30... and why it didn't work in the end? I'm assuming that stock of SF4 shouldn't be that hard to come by.

Hrm that's a bit annoying. Maybe i will cancel my order and just pick it up locally. Do you get your money back? :lol

I picked up SF 4 yesterday. Paid 100$ which i aint great. having fun with the game despite my lack of skill involved with it :D
xbox gamertag is RATAB if anyone wants to play. probly be online again today some time.
i really hate seth!
My GF is heading down to JB chapel st to get some hori pad or something, she said its cheap so i have a bad feeling its going to be terirble quality.

Awww crap, I just got the dreaded-'out of stock. stanby!' message from cdwow for SF4. It probably means it won't come for months :(

That sucks. Now im just waiting for my email to arrive to tell me the same thing :lol . Still says pending dispatch in my orders. *prays*

why dont u guys just go down to a store?
is it that much cheaper online?

cdwow offers games much much cheaper than going to shops here in australia (A$60 VS A$100).

And times are a bit tough so i want to stretch my gaming money as much as possible... thats why i pre-ordered at cdwow. but i just might shop around if it takes too long...

Just for the record guys, I put my order in on the 24th of Jan this year. Don't know if they ship in order of orders going in or not.

Anyone know how to cancel an order with CD-WOW? Can't find the option anywhere. I'm not fussed about the price anymore, I just want to play the freakin' game!

I placed mine on the 17th of Jan this year, and yet my order didn't get fulfilled :(

For anyone who bought the collector's edition of Street Fighter IV and are not happy with their shitty box art (I know there are some of you out there)

I have some covers that are EXACTLY THE SAME (IE Back and Spine) except they have the nice, spiffy, new artwork that you get with the standard edition - straight from THQ. If you want one, shoot me off a PM and I'll send them to ya. They fit perfect in the cases (well, for 360, I didn't buy a PS3 copy >_>)

But yeah, PM me. I've got 4 360 ones left and 5 PS3 ones.

CD Wow are pretty quick to refund your payment-- it's through PayPal so they only need to reverse the transaction. Credit Card payments take a couple of days to come back through, haven't used any other method.

Just email them with the order number, they'll respond within a day.

I will only consider them if I'm reasonably sure it's in stock- if it's listed as "In Stock" in green text, that's normally a good sign.

So gimped boxart huh? Do the collectors editions have the fan art winners from the competition that Capcom ran leading up to it's release? One of the winners was a fellow gaffer.

Nemesis556 said:
There was no artwork inside the box. Was it the same for standard editions?
According to Capcom, there were 6 different pieces of liner-art. The standard and collectors edition cases as well as the anime case that came with some copies were to have their own piece of artwork, which would be different between the 360 and PS3 versions.

By the sounds of it, it was only for North America :(

The great thing is that our fellow gaffer Xavier Garcier got his entry on the inside of the 360 collectors edition:

I want the 360 collectors edition. When you look real close at it, the artist included this nice treat:

I'm thinking of Trading in GT4:P Mirrors Edge and GTA4 for Street Fighter OR For Killzone 2 at JBHiFi I DUNNO are there any good trade in deals around?

Question for those who have the SFIV Limited Edition:

JB's online store lists "Exclusive downloadable content" as one of the features, does that mean at least some of those ridiculous alternate costume DLC are free if you buy it, or something else, or did JB just lie or have the wrong info up?

Its a code to download one of the costume packs for free when they go up.

I saw a couple at a JB HiFi today for $89. Would be worth doing a ring around to see if stores in your area still have it.

ok fair enough.
i live in melbourne so i get what you mean. I only really pay full price for the a game i really want, and for that i would be down and buy it day one. Waiting for something to be posted would be really annoying!

Good news for the people who are getting their SFIV copies- what a relief!

Is the Bang Box for HotD only going to be available for a limited time? I've restricted myself from spending any more cash until I've finished a few of the games from 2007-2008.

Speaking of which, I always welcome advice on what to play next. I've just finished Bioshock (My third play-through, and first time on PC) and the original Killzone on PS2, which was a buggy, dull headache of a game but it had its moments. I wouldn't mind leaving the shooters aside for a while, and hopefully play something a bit more polished. I realised that what I love about Bioshock is the story, atmosphere, and sound-design. Playing it on PC, I was hoping that the actual shooting would have been more active and engaging than on 360 with a control (I'm not too keen on console FPS). Unfortunately, it was a bit frustrating at times, and there were a few other aspects that could have done with some polish. As such, I'm looking to play something where I won't get annoyed with technical aspects of the game fucking up on me. I like a challenge, but not when it's due to a buggy game like Killzone 1.

Here are my options:
Metroid Prime 3
Prime was my favourite game last gen, and I'm ashamed I haven't played this yet
Prince of Persia- Warrior Within: Yes, I know it's angry emo Prince of Persia, but I've heard the combat and obstacle course gameplay is still solid.
Battalion Wars
The Simpsons Game
Rogue Galaxy
Metal Gear Solid 2
