I get very frustrated at people who think Obama has done nothing for America. He brought us through a freaking recession and pulled us out of two wars, what more can you ask for with a do nothing congress?

I don't think credit or blame can be brought on one person alone. But sure, he did to along of things.

Yup.

I remember women down here in particular went absolutely nuts for Bill Clinton. When Louisiana went blue in 1992, I was a bit surprised. The gender gap was constantly talked about on CNN when they were doing post-election analysis.

I don't think he'd be able to get nearly as many southern states for Hillary as he did in the 1990s, but states like Virginia and North Carolina might be a good bit easier this time around with him co-campaigning with her.

Yeah most of the slaughtering and complete takeover happened in the last 5 years beginning in 2010 with the Republican wave. I honestly believe Bill Clinton delayed the inevitable in his state. Obama accelerated it since 2009. AL still had a D legislature in 2010. Look at that 2002/2003 election, TN, OK, LA, NC, WY of all places elected D's as governors. Hillary and Bill ties to AR mean no more in this hyper politicized environment. Even a Ted Cruz nomination wont give AR or any other state Bill won to Hillary.

I'm watching the looped videos on the sotu youtube stream. Obama is surprisingly uncomfortable amongst real people. There's a video here where he's walking around DC yelling at people on the street. confusing.

Very true. I know lots of people that voted for him and are upset he hasn't 'done more for the country' as if he is some super hero that can solve all of our problems. He has taken some steps, at least.

This is the first one in like ten years I won't watch.

It's all a bunch of hot air.

Twenty progressive proposals that Obama will only mention because he knows they won't pass.

I'm tired of hope and change. I want my money back

I had the same thought, but at the same time it does help move the narrative further left, rather then him just giving up.

But yeah, the Dems really blew their chances to enact any real changes to the tax code and the like by their reluctance to change the senate rules on 60 votes back when they had the majority.

🇺🇸🇺🇸 rushin' rushin' almost home 🇺🇸🇺🇸

🇺🇸🇺🇸 ey big barry o hold up don't start yet just be cool for like a minute 🇺🇸🇺🇸

I was going to ask how many people (outside of hopeless partisans) still watch this with how integrated everyone is nowadays, but it seems like 33M still tuned in last year.

"There you see some of the Republicans. It's going to be fascinating to see how enthusiastic they are when the president is making a controversial statement, probably not so much. On the other hand, the democrats will be very, very enthusiastic."

I just... Jesus Christ, CNN.

Just from their headlines, it seems CNN is bent on making Idiocracy a real thing.

it is extremely tiring to clap for the 10 minutes it takes for him to get to the front of the room

it needs to be like wrestling, complete with pyro and entrance music

Incoming Republican bitch fest about how long it took Obama to reach the podium to talk and about how he gave too many handshakes and kiss on cheek.

Hoping for another Joe Biden.gif from this.

Obama gonna call same sex marriage a civil right.

Good.

I hope the Republican side doesn't clap at all so we can get some great imagery at how fucking behind the Republicans are.

Actually, Obama is going to mentions tons of shit that will never happen due to Congressional gridlock, but the more important victory is in the visuals. When he hammers on immigration and Republicans sit there all lockjawed, it's gonna be yet another Democratic victory for 2016 presidential politics :P

And why is this important?

Stacking the supreme court.
