So um... Did Lupe just murder the Rap Game in the first month of 2015?

It's OK if you like the album, but don't make some outlandish comment like it being better than the Cool. Food and Liquor and The Cool are in a tier of their own when it comes to Lupe albums.

The Cool>F&L>>>>T&Y>>>F&L2>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Lasers

The 5/10 ratings seem kind of low as well. On one play through, it's a solid 7, 8 if I want to be generous.

SremmLife as a top album? It's fun, but goddamnno

I'll check out this Lupe album, but I never really listened to him

Look, you know how this thread is gonna play out, don't be confused, and don't be that guy in a music thread.

It was his last line that confused me.
And that guy is always gonna exist in anythread.

Don't care if it's outlandish. Till something else pops up [There is still plenty I'm looking forward to, I can't even listen to B4.DA.$$ right now because I'mma need some time to detach from T&Y] But I stand by my opinion.

No Scratches gets honorable mention. Enjoyed the Vivaldi interludes too. Adoration of the Maji is good if you skip the hook.

Mural is ridiculous. If he can do that whole thing live he's some kind of savant.

The entire 7th minute through to the end is like...holy shit, what did this turn into?

The album is good, but it'll be lucky to end up in my top 5 at the end of the year.

Some of y'all naysayers are a little too confident right now. Not even top 5 rap of the month? The fuck?

The only thing outlandish is how much of a hypocrite you are. Your opinions are fine but when some states an opinion of lesser or greater value, your inner needledrop oozes out of the woodwork like some sort of infected wound. Get out of here with that shit.

Because of one of the first comments and statements I've heard from a lot of people when it came to trying to listen to B4.DA.$$ after T&Y.

Most said they hard a hard time finishing the album even tho they really wanted to because they wanted to go back to listening to T&Y.

Oh excuse me for knocking other peopl- fuck your moral standards, I ain't gotta appeal to that shit.

Making comments on opinions is cool. Don't get personal.

5 if the Death Grips instrumental counts. Haven't done any bandcamp hunting yet.

for real then, hit up that link when inclined - so much quality there, it totally rearranged my top 10 list for 2014. lotta people seemed to think last year was weak for hip hop but it really wasn't if you knew what to check for

pretty much nothing was gonna debunk RTJ2 for me tho

Only gave it a cursory listen but right now it's sitting at like a 7/8. Doubt this will be the strongest release we get this year. I definitely don't think it's better than The Cool or F&L. Glad he's at least moved away from the corny shit.

Mural is genius. Blur My Hands and Body of Work are my other two standouts. Not sure what to think of Deliver. I think I like it...cringing and nodding my head at the same time.

This feels like a jab. It's a jab isn't it.

Cool.

Hard to say until the new Kendrick drops but definitely raw lyrics. Return to form from Lupe. Outclasses Losers and FnL2 by miles.

Even if you like the album (and some do) why would you make such an outlandish and inconceivable statement right at the start of the year... And best of the decade?!

That's not saying much, bruh.

I guess I owe the old Lupe fan in me a listen, but I'm keeping my expectations low.

Hype > Quality

T&Y is nice, take this from a fan that had completely written dude off after Lasers. T&Y is a return to form, and it could be in the conversation for his best album.

It's an ok album.

I'm sure there's some deep meaning behind the concept of the album...but I just don't really give a shit.

Its January so I'm not going down that route but props to Lupe for knowing he can't sing and getting actual singers to do his hooks. J Cole please take notes homie. I know you got the sales but for the love of god stop singing your own hooks. Like a hold 3rd of Forest Hills is skippable because of that voice cracking singing. /rant.

His first two albums are still my favorite in his catalogue. I'll try to pick this up before the end of the week. I don't participate with too much of Gaf Hop so I don't know if I'm supposed to take comments about Gucci being superior seriously.

Regardless, the little bit I've heard of this album has been dope (Mural/Deliver).

From "Think I found love in this club toooooniiiiiiiiight. Oh-oh" to half a dozen Nikki Jean features. We're proud of you Lupe.

I said this in GafHop but it's growing stronger on re-listens. All of Fall is pretty much 10/10. Mural, Chopper, Blur, Dots and all of Ab Soul's existence post Control System bring the album down. With those cut, I think this would be a solid 9/10 album. I think I may upgrade my original C+ rating to a B-. Pretty good album and if had came out instead of Lasers, I don't think people would be talking about Lupe falling off. It's miles above his last couple of records and it shows that his recentish guest spots with MMG et al. weren't flukes.

But slaying? Nah. But not everything has to be the GOAT or WOAT. Sometimes it's alright to just call a decent album decent. Body of Work is definitely my jam right now though.

Yo what? Blur My Hands I can agree with, weakest track on the album by far, but CHOPPER BRINGING THE ALBUM DOWN?
Straight up wrong.

If I wanted Ace Hood, I'd go listen to Ace Hood. Lupe doesn't work on the beat and bringing three no-names (fuck a Glasses Malone) including a guy who owes Schoolboy Q for his entire life doesn't do it for me. It's overly long, repetitive and full of nonsense raps from scrubs. Paaaaasssssssssssss.

I gotta disagree here. Chopper is good.
Im on my phone now but there is one guy on Chopper that has a great flow even though his verse is short. Im going to look him up when I get home.
