Amiibo Discussion Thread 2: I Got 99 Pre-orders But A Rosalina Ain't One

Did anyone order from Zavvi? I've got most of my preorders with them for this wave and I ain't heard shit from them. Fucking useless.

I ordered RShulk, Toon Link and Sonic from them.

Then those options straight up disappeared on the amiibo page a few days later (I ordered 28 Nov), haven't seen them since. Just checked my account now; still processing.

>:(

My TRU says they got a shipment in today, but no idea when they'll put them out -_-
*goes there to stand around all day*
LOL I bet there will be at least 5 other people waiting.

I was curious to see how Nintendo's customer support would reply to an email asking them about Amiibo availability in the future, so I just sent them an email.

Basically I explained them the situation with scalpers and how frustrating it's to me as a customer, so I asked if they are planning to provide the retailers with more stock in the future.

Let's see what they reply... I'll let you know if it's something interesting, but I bet it will be something in the vein of "We don't know at the moment, stay tuned".

I don't get it. I though orders would be more secure with them being the Hut group, the Nintendo UK store vendor but it looks like they've been told to prio Nintendo store orders.

I'm on hold with Fremont, CA for 5 minutes now just to talk to someone. This is crap. Any other Bay Area people calling? Pls let me know!

Pretty sure this thread would be flipping out if that happened.

Called Fremont again this morning. Lady said they havent got any new amiibos. So far it seems Sunnyvale, Redwood City and San Mateo are the hotspots for getting amiibos first in bay area.

After a long, awful day of getting stuck in traffic, being very lightly hit in a pile up, stressfully busy science-ing, and a weird screaming man outside the lab, I swung into the Smyths on the way home, and came away with a Rosalina and Sheik!

Very chuffed, and now I'm going to relax with a gin and tonic, and enjoy chips for dinner.

If anyone near Maidstone/Aylesford/West Malling fancies anything, the Smyths off junction 5 of the M20 has at least a dozen of all of wave 3.

I think it's more telling that searching 'amiibo' on their site right now the only amiibo is the Mario bundled with MP10.

Everything else is N3DS bundles, MK8 and Smash.

Got my six wave threes today, a bit of a downer though that It looks like I have missed out on wave 4 UK preorders? I managed to get Wario and Charizard but not the other 4, I'm a bit worried I'll miss out when they go up on Amazon and have to hunt them down or pay over the odds...

This is reaching critical levels of frustration...

I hold Nintendo just as responsible for this bullshit as I do the scalpers who buy all the amiibos and the retailers who irresponsibly allow people to buy 50 of them at once. The fact that Nintendo of America has been completely silent about this entire situation shows either they do not give a fuck or are too stupid to figure out a good solution.

I'm going to with the former given that we're still getting random release dates for waves, unannounced preorders, lack of certainty of availability, the existence of retailer-exclusive amiibos, etc. It's fucking disgraceful and incredibly disheartening. It makes me not want to support Nintendo as a company any more, to be honest.

They NEED to do something about this, or at least come out and say they're trying. Inaction is doing nothing but hurting my view of them and I'm sure I'm not alone. :/ This isn't worth the trouble it's causing.

Man I thought we talked about that couple of days ago when he got upset and the next day he said the he was sorry and was back to normal. So did he leave again?

I think it's good idea to drop it and leave him alone. I don't like to see people dragging his name in the mud. I hope to get the Idioms correctly.

Trust me, I been very vocal about how NoA pretty much supports scalpers with how they do things. There is little reason why they didn't produce the same amount of inventory for each character at least during first production.

OMG! That pokemon trainer!! ^_^ Is he on sale on Amazon too?
Why are you guys doing this to me!
They were, but looking at it seems only third-party sells them now. Selling for $120 now, WTF scalpers?

Agreed. No sense in discussing it. He seems happy and that's all that matters.

Side note, if I wanted to buy a eShop gift card from GameStop online, could they email me the code?

I'm not calling him out or anything. I'm worried if something happened or not. The guy is awesome and he's done a lot for this thread and the amiibo community.

Scalpers help Nintendo because they buy all the products which is $$$ for Nintendo. Also, by buying them all, it becomes rare, then itll make headlines and make Nintendo products more valuable and sought after.

Does anyone here knows if Captain Falcon was finally released on Mexican stores? I can only find Diddys and Zeldas from wave 2. Now I'm worried about wave 3, wave 2 is taking to long to be released here.

Yeah, uh, about that...you probably won't be able to get one now. Except for Luigi, I was told they didn't even get enough of the others to fulfill all preorders at Gameplanet last weekend and they were told to not expect wave 3 until the end of March...

I doubt it. He has a good job, a gf, and a trip to Japan to plan. I'm surprised he ever had time for this thread. Though, I do hope he comes back some day

EDIT: Aggh! Just saw Red is over $150 on amazon! Why is he so much compared to others?
See, his MSRP was $50 when I bought him. I checked Pokémon Center and they seem to not have it in stock anymore. Seriously, I bought him on December 25th. I guess scalpers man!

Except that Nendoroid Red is EXPENSIVE. Was aware that it was so sought after. Would have picked up the re-release at Christmas for my son instead of the Link (who's easily available at a decent price).
Yeah, he was easy to buy in early January. I didn't realize scalpers bought up most of the stock.

Actually, that's more of an accurate after market value. When it came out in Japan, the cost in the after market reached around that price. They were pretty limited to the Pokemon Center and Amazon.jp, which sold out quickly and then rose to yeah, around $120. Then it came to NA and after those sold, value went up to that amount.

Limited Nendos raise in value :/

Buddy checked the Toys R Us by him, only one they had was Bowser.
Of course the areas where I can have people check don't have anything else.

Thanks for the info :) welp, I hope that at least Mario Party amiibos are available when they release.

So yeah, both of my potential Shulk GAF helpers couldn't get me one in the end because of problems in their lives that I can totally understand.

So heeeere we goooo again: Anyone have an extra Shulk for me? :)

I think you might have to wait for Feb 13th with the rest of us unprepared folks

Just a warning. When I stopped at TRU this morning the sales clerk informed me that they're oversold by 6 on their Lucario Pre-orders. I don't know if this is will be a trend throughout all of their stores, but just thought I'd let you guys know to get there early if you have an in-store pick-up pre-order!
