• Hey Guest. Check out your NeoGAF Wrapped 2025 results here!

ARC Raiders pre-orders are officially live...

I've already maxed out all my credit cards on hundreds of ARC Raiders copies because I anticipated NeoGAF would use this tactic.

I am the General Patton of GAAS

Can't wait, I need to get away from Hunt showdown. This looks like could be the one... even if it is third person

People are saying "oof" at a $40 MSRP? Why..?

1: buying an online only game is always a gamble because if it isn't successful, your money is gone
2: the game has microtransactions
3: because it is not free 2 play, the chances it will have a smaller userbase is higher, which ultimately makes it more likely that it will fail, which ties back to the first point of it being a gamble.

I didn't know this, its a no for me then.

BF6 is going to be taking up most of my time and for a while now I've been on just 1 MP shooter.

You could apply this to almost any paid for GAAS game though. BF6 for example.

Both games had very successful beta's.

Battlefield 6 also has microtransactions and is almost twice the price.

Microtransactions is a no for you, so you buy a game which is more expensive and has microtransactions as well? Eh, makes sense.

Looks really cool and I've had my eye on it, but really bad timing with BF6. I never preorder anyway though, ESPECIALLY when it's a new multiplayer extraction release. BF6 is my priority, and I haven't preordered that either (why would I).

So what type of games is this? Does it have a story mode? Can I play it solo?
Its a PVPVE extraction shooter, a very good one. If you are after story and solo play your are probably barking up the wrong tree, however....

Excellent environmental story telling.

You can play it solo and it will match you against other solos but it can be quite rough.

Deluxe Edition for me. It's Embark, so a no-brainer. They made The Finals, which is the most complex and unique FPS since Team Fortress and has the best MTX system (buy stuff - get more stuff free), abundant seasons with weekly events.

I wish they'd get away from that "All skins must be a hue of brown" thing they got going on. I usually buy one Battle Pass for these games but nothing I see has peaked my interest yet.

All seems pretty muted from what ive seen so far. Here's some other skins I found.

mtx can easily be ignored when all the maps will be free to all players and BF6 is actually a good game lol

I'm no longer going between many MP titles these days and BF6 is the easy choice for me.

But you said the reason for skipping Arc was the MTX. It will also have all free content. That's all I was pointing out.

Yes BF6 will also be my preferred title but ill also play this as well. But if i had to choose I'd probably go BF6 as well as its were my group will be mainly.

BF6 is going to eat this game's lunch. Should have released it earlier and at a cheaper price.

It might have a bigger launch, but Battlefield will always Battlefield. Players will start dropping 3 - 4 weeks after launch because that formula isn't built to last.

Puh, i dont remember, been a while. It was a different genre?
Yes it was originally a PVE co-op shooter until they pivoted at some point to the extraction shooter it is today.

Here's the OG trailer from 2021.
