Yeah I've actually been using all the dcpis to look up and see if there are any and the DC yet and how much shelf space Corporate had us reserving for each one.

So I was thinking today about how many money-focused people have seen the coverage in the press about the Rosalina guy and followed suit hoping to make some profit.
While I think it's good that guy's antics have been called out and ridiculed at large, it does alert people who have no interest in the product but have a business mindset to buy them to spite others and at the end of it all...make money, just like that stories posted on the last few pages about the guys buying out stores of figures to sell on. They don't even need to go to wholesale because some people are so urgent to get specific figures they don't mind giving people up to 100% of their investments back. It's sad really.
I think the fact there's been a lot of coverage on the Rosalina guy, and also the "holy trinity" fiasco before it, that's what's caused them in part to be so desirable and then suddenly scalped up. I'm not saying those specific figures wouldn't have been as rare without headlines being made about them, but it certainly does make dollar signs appear in a savvy person's eyes.
I didn't even want a Marth, but I still nabbed one when I got the chance because of how sought after he is, that's the thing. And it really doesn't help how silent Nintendo have been on the issue of restocking. I'm still not even sure of how successful amiibo are really as a whole, I would say they are still pretty niche to some extent, just the people who do love them are fanatical about them. I still think Nintendo needs to do a better job of marketing them on what they "do". Because there's not a core game like Infinity or Skylanders where EVERY amiibo will work, it'll stump some people and parents.
So yeah, I know this has been said a milli, but Nintendo, please just let us know if there'll be some second editions of the Smash amiibo. It's a bit of a shame really when you can't find a specific character because some twat has bought out every store and sells them at twice the price.
And on that note, I'm still looking for a Rosalina, so if any UKGAFers find any or have a spare I'd be willing to buy it from you.

Yea, that Lucina Figma cost a bit more than a regular Figma since it's really detailed but it will look great next to my other Figmas!

I was thinking about this last night. It's an exclusive, it's going to be in their ad, it's from the Mario series, and it's compatible with Mario Party 10. I'd be super surprised if it's in really low quantities. My biggest fear is people buying a bunch because of the hype about rarity. I'm just hoping I have more than a day to get it since I'll be out of town, heh.

This was what I was afraid would happen when I saw the story online. He trolled the Gaf amiibo thread but I was afraid he'd blow up and get attention, leading to all this.
I had no problems securing Wave 1s in the UK (you can even walk into Game and lock up a Villager or Marth), but it's been getting tougher and tougher (I know our American amiibros would rather have our wonky situation though).
I'm sure I've shaved years off my life stressing about these, but as the only figures I've ever really cared about (in adulthood at least), it's still fun.
Just gotta make it until Duck Hunt Duo and Mr. Game and Watch...
(though I also want ROB, ZS Samus, Ganondorf and Olimar still)

Managed to snag a Bowser from TRU. They had a bunch (probably over 10 or so) but no Toon Link or Sheik. Funny thing is, the employee said they had a bunch of Sheik several days before the 22nd.

Went to TRU today only Wave 3 I saw was a lone Bowser which decided to go ahead and buy.
Besides that every time I get an email from Amazon France I panic a little thinking its a cancellation notice for my Rosalina but it was just a email asking for feedback on its packaging despite it not actually arriving yet.

I do it all of the time. I have gotten a ton of mileage out of Smash because of these things.
I am actually letting my Toon Link destroy a level 9 Sonic right now.

A lot of people do it; I'm not sure if anyone's figured out a formula used for Amiibo item collection, but some on Smashboards think it's time based combined with number of matches. A short match doesn't yield as much Amiibo loot as a longer one.
One recommendation was to set up a 20 stock match for 4 or more Amiibo and run 2 or 3 of those back to back for half an hour, for a farming session. Then "cash out" the Amiibo and see what you got.
