For those who ordered from Argos... I just called them and they said that they have contacted their supplier who are saying that all those amiibos (rosalina, shulk, dedede, meta knight, sonic, megaman) are on backorder until mid February. This would make sens for the second half of wave 3, but obviously means they don't actually have any stock of Rosalina either.

She said we can either wait until then, or just get a refund :/
 
No emails yet cancelling any of my Wave 3 orders. I wouldn't mind honestly, it's money I could spend elsewhere!

Lucina already bit the dust in Australia for pre-order. Marth's rarity plus Codename STEAM functionality equals mass popularity for the two Fire Emblem characters.

Earlier in the thread, someone said they saw 2 Rosalinas at a Target in NA. ThisBeJason asked for pics. Does anyone know if this was debunked or confirmed?

You would think that they learned from Wave 1 the popularity. Why not replenish the stocks more often? How do they not see that the rares are some of the more popular characters among fans? Why no more direct release dates? Wave 1 went good for the most part.

Limited Edition games:
I remember with Wind Waker HD's LE was able to be pre-ordered at GS for at LEAST one day. We don't have that any more.

Limited Edition consoles:
I remember when you can go into stores and buy limited Zelda-themed DS and 3DS bundles... Anyone remember those days?

*sigh* I just don't get it... They should hire me to put a plan in order and I could definitely figure out a way that would be win-win on both sides.

Yeah, there's either an increase in demand for their stuff or a decrease in supply on Nintendo's part. Probably both. Really shitty situation. With the way my schedule works out I'm pretty lucky that I'm on a computer or on my phone with GAF open for most of my day. I was able to grab a MM LE and MM New 3DS as soon as they went up for sale. But even I missed the Shulk amiibo pre-order at EB Games. It's fucking crazy.

Alas I think they have all been given away as presents. There's possibly one more in storage, but considering what I paid to ship them here, and adding what it'd cost to ship them to you, you'd likely be better looking on eBay.

Hmm. I believe Pit is more rare. I got him at the Nintendo store when it popped in stock and since it'd been OOS again.
Hard to say whether Ike will be another "Marth", but I believe you can still get him in some places. At least in the UK. Pit is harder to find, he doesn't seem to be in print as much as later ones.

Pit is probably a bit rarer than Ike now, although it could change. Both can be found quite easily in brick and mortar stores, here, though, and both are available online (amazon.de, for example). Could still be a decent trade, though.

I'm convinced that Mac is the hardest to find of the 28 released in Europe, now, with Rosalina. Even the trinity is on Amazon.de.

An increase of scalpers, too. But yes, without low stock, that wouldn't work.

It hasn't begun with Amiibos, though, LE of Bayonetta Wii U sold out FAR before the launch day.

I understand a bit Nintendo, though... Many stores here don't want to restock, and they probably are overly cautious. I'm not sure that without scalpers the stock couldn't fill the demands.
 
What about a new, separate thread - Amiibo Purchase Discussion Thread - for everyone using this current one as a logbook? e.g. for X dispatched! Y cancelled! Z arrived! NA sucks (x1000000)! These detract from what the thread is about. I'm reading it less and less as it becomes a notification center.

Instead I want to read predictions, favourite amiibos, critique of design, relevant kind of things. Any agreement on this?

Everything like that is in here in some capacity.

The topics tend to change depending on when the releases are is all. Since this is kind of a general thread for all of it I don't think I could really see myself participating in 2 threads and splitting myself between two communities for the same thing.

Rosalina, toon Link and Ike came this morning. Tenner each from amazon. Check Amazon again this morning, Rosalina is £45!

I just called them and they said my order has already been cancelled then hung up before I could say anything else. I can still track my order though so it's strange.

Had the opportunity to get it from the nintendo store too, and I never ordered because I thought I was secure already :(

I was wondering that as well. However, I noticed that was the only mention of Rosalina's at a Target. I'm sure some people went to Target's yesterday and had Rosalina's been in the wild, we'd have seen more notices. I'm guessing it was either bs or a very isolated instance.

I'm keeping the two most perfect boxes under the steps in my detolf/azar combo. The next two rows are reserved for:


  • Shulk, ZSS, Jigglypuff, Mewtwo
  • Pit, Dark Pit, Bowser Jr, Charizard
I have a feeling Nintendo will distribute Mewtwo in smash through the purchase of his amiibo self, so I'm counting him in.

I haven't seen anything on it.

I just got one from Nippon-Yasan with cheap shipping since it should arrive before I have the system. Haven't heard a peep from NoA, but if they do sell them it'll be on their official site. I know the JPN ones work fine in NA. I figured since the price of the XL charging cradle was $20 on NoA's store, the one on NY was only like $15 + import shipping.

The 3DS spoiled me and I feel like I need the charging cradles for all my handheld devices now >.>

I got the free color one (Blue) from Club Nintendo for my XL. Hopefully NoA stocks the n3DS cradles. Importing them is cheap enough that's it's worth it to do it now compared to what it'll likely be if released here at all.
 
So it seems that the Mario amiibo packaged with Mario Part 10 will not be sold individually and will be exclusive to the Mario Party bundle until further notice.

Yet another NA blunder that I cannot seem to fathom. Everywhere else in the WHOLE WORLD it can be picked up at retail without Mario Party 10 but not in NA. NoA seems bent on ruining relations with its fanbase. They seem to be the only Nintendo branch that loves testing our loyalties.

If it wasn't for my pure and utter addiction for collecting these amiibo, I would quit buying these for the principal of it all. However, I will protest by keeping my Mario amiibo preordered from amiami and buy Mario Party 10 without amiibo.

Yeah, Barnes and Noble had it too. I actually placed a pre-order for one, but it was cancelled due to limited supply, so I shrugged my shoulders and bought the standard edition.

...then about three months or so later, my limited edition leather-bound copy showed up anyway (in perfect condition too, thankfully). Since I already had the standard green edition I kept it sealed in the wrapping and now display it on the shelf alongside the green book.
 
Part of me thinks NoA is doing this to drive sales up for MP10. They're capitalizing on people's weakness when it comes to amiibo. People automatically panic and convince themselves that they need the amiibo.

I personally wouldn't get Mario Party 10 if I was paid to have it.
 
Picked up a Mega Man preorder from Walmart.com yesterday afternoon (EST). How have they been about fulfilling preorders on previous waves?

If they're doing a Mario-exclusive MP10 Amiibo bundle and the bundle becomes too hard to find, I'll just skip the Mario Amiibo line. I like Smash enough that I'll put up with bullshit like that to get its merchandise, but I don't like Mario enough to pay way over MSRP to get their Amiibos.

Yep, i dont think by now any store in Spain has it.
I only saw it the first release date for amiibos, and never again, a pity becuase I didnt thnk t would be hard to find and now here i am, with no Kirby.

Little Mac is the same thing for Wave 2.
Toon Link and Rosalina are the harder to find from wave 3. I dont understand why some stores only ordered the others but not those 2.

Also some scalper is having a great time in the Fnac in my city, he goes every release date just as the store opens and gets every amiibo form that wave and its repeats. Im thinking of doing the same for wave 3.5 and buy the first fucking his master plan.

Also amiibos at GAME stores are non existant in Spain.

Its easier than buying amiibos in america, but its not easy or smooth sailing either.

But in short it is thought to be an Amazon exclusive and it is already sold out sooooo..... I would say it is going to be hard to find. There is no info on the length of the exclusivity and since Amazon is the only one offering it that is why most think it is exclusive to only them. Some like the dude on CAG is grabbing the one on Best Buy and hoping it is the bundle but unannounced since it has no real picture of it and the fact that Amazon has the standalone game for 49.99 (saving 10 bucks) and the BB one is 59.99
 
Alright, I was all for defending Nintendo up to now but I'm starting to really question what the deal is with these preorder sellouts and order cancellations.

Good for them as a company--they can use it to placate shareholders--but it's kinda nutty.
