Was skiing the last week, Alps, South Tirol, Dolomite Alps.

Every time I visit the Alps, I consider moving there when I return home...

It was the first time I really used my Fuji X-T1 in the wild. I love this little camera and lenses... beside some missing pixels I don't miss my 5d II at all. Did not expect that!

I LOVE your picture!! Once Mirrorless cameras evolve a little bit more (Better lenses and specs), I'll definitely switch over. They just aren't 100% there yet for me to ditch my 6D.

Thank you!

For the moment I found my perfect system. Coming from a full format 5D, I was really interested in the Sony a7's. But the lacking lens portfolio and the crazy prices for the cameras+lenses turned me off.
Than I read some "reviews" of the Fuji Lenses, touched the X-T1 and was lost ;) For me it's the perfect compromise of quality and weight (weight was the issue with my 5D, Kids, hiking etc.)

Just got home from PAX South. I had so much fun walking around taking pictures. Light was really challenging. I spent the first couple hours on Saturday near the entrance and around the expo with my D7100 and off camera flash. The often dark and changing light was hard to deal with since you really needed to snap the picture and move on, or get out of the way. It forced me to really think about what I was doing and try to set up between shots.

I still ended up using higher ISO and most shots needed a fair mount of work in Lightroom. Let me know what you think, advice welcome.

Everyone I asked for a photo was great, they often thanked me. This was a huge confidence builder. Awesome experience.

Picked up A7II today. So far very cool. Fast. Tiny. Feels great in your hand.

Only issues so far is getting used to the menu system (coming from Canon). Doesn't come with a wall charger. You charge it via USB cable :p Memory card door comes open when you grab the camera. Could have used a lock or something.

Took a walk around International District in Seattle on a slow Sunday night. Was still getting used to the menus.

You should buy a third party wall charger on amazon. it comes with extra batteries as well and a car charger. :)

My friends asked me to do portraits of them, so I demanded that they post as a lovely couple and it was brilliant.

There was some nice light, big snow going on last night so I was trying to take pictures. Most came out like garbage, so noisey. Either needed to high of an ISO, or too slow of a shutter speed.

Anyone have tips on shooting snow? I've been obsessed with the idea of that type of shot since I first got a camera, but it's been so difficult to achieve. I feel like it might be a hardware deficiency unfortunately.

They always told me to overexpose photos a bit while shooting snow, just to make sure you get the snow in it's good white color. Be sure to not overexpose the sky though, especially when you have the nice blue winter sky. Shooting in RAW makes this easier though.

Here's one I shot at a beach near me. I live a half mile from the beach, so I take photos there all the time.

I've not had the opportunity to try it (damn you southern UK weather), but the key for capturing snow as you see it is to overcome the fact that your camera will be trying to make the scene grey, and struggling to deal with all of the light reflected back at it. Shoot manual (or AV and compensate) so that you can over expose, and you may also want to tinker with a custom WB (which you can deal with in POST if you shoot RAW).

There's plenty of easy to follow reading on it.

Don't know about your local market, but for that price you can almost get a decent condition X100S here in Germany. Now that the X100T is out, it shouldn't be too hard to find some, I guess?

For what it's worth I think this shot looks really cool.

So, as some of you may know, i changed my Canon gear for Nikon on December, of course i had to buy the amazing Sigma 35mm 1.4 again for my Nikon bodies.

I got the lens a couple of weeks ago and i immediately noticed it was front focusing like crazy, especially at long distances, so, i had to order the Sigma dock to calibrate the lens myself.

I have to say it's way easier than expected and i think this lens is now sharper than my Canon mount ever was, or maybe it's the crazy amount of pixels on my new D810.

Here's a shot from earlier today during my sons soccer practice.

And here's the 1-1 crop.

I just love the color rendition on the lens, i have tried three Nikon lenses so far, the 24mm 2.8, 50mm 1.4 and 85mm 1.8 and they don't come close to the awesomeness that the 35mm renders.
Now i don't know if i should keep the dock or sell it.

So I wanna buy my gf a camera for Vday since she loves taking pics with the shitty iphone. Which ones should I consider? Not even sure where to start with this stuff. Would appreciate if you guys DM me with the details so we don't derail the thread thanks!.

Looking at this thread reminds me that I need to sit down and actually learn all the settings on my camera. I would post pics of my recent trip to Vegas, but I don't like nearly all of the shots I look of the Strip, and the pictures I took that I do like are all NSFW.

Ah this thread made me want to get back into carrying around my camera all the time! It's been a while since I properly shot anything but I have some nice pictures from recent trips :)

I haven't taken many photos in January since it's been way too damn cold out but here's at least one for the month (although I have another shot in mind to take later)

Sweet! What kind of film do you use? I especially like the first couple of color ones.

I've started my little film adventure as well. Using my grandfathers OM-1. Started shooting with Kodak Gold 400. Have yet to shoot up my first roll and have it developed though. Can't wait for the results!

Ran into my first problem with my A7II, lens support. Specifically Full Frame Support. Rented Sigma 30mm f/2.8 and Sony 16-70 f/4 and neither of them support full frame. Sony naming for Full Frame support is lenses with FE for e-mount. Any lens that doesn't support FE the camera goes into APS-C mode and all photos are taken at 10mp instead of the native 24.3mp. Took a photo with it on and off.

The roadmap for 2015 looks promising, but there really aren't many FE lenses out there right now. Especially by outside vendors.

Nice picture guys! Man I'm impressed how good you are, my pictures look really amateurish compared to this. Haven't been out with my camera since it's cold and snowy outside :/
