The Witcher 3: 1080p/30fps on PS4, 900p/30fps on Xbox One

ooh had hoped they would do that 1080PR Farcry 4 and Halo 2: A use, it's a bit sharper then 900p.

Still gonna double dip it, preorder on X1 and when 4k@60fps is possible on a $1000+- desktop gonna replay it in glorious 4k resolution

Lemme predict the DF analysis.

"While the PS4 version boasts a resolution advantage of 633k more pixels onscreen with its 1080p resolution vs. 900p on the Xbox One, our analysis shows that framerates drop to 29fps at times on the inventory screen where on the Xbox One they remain at a steady 30fps. In summation, if you are looking for a higher resolution go with the PS4 version. If framerate stability is important to you, the Xbox One version is what you want. Either way, you can't go wrong with either version of this game."

nailed it

Gettg this on PS4 for sure, any word on save trasnfering from PC to PS4? Now the only question is should I get this at launch or wait for the inevitable enhanced witcher 3.

Why does the PS4 picture look really bright compared to XB1?

Possible explanations (and notice that the PC picture looks brighter too):

- Just a different moment of day/ angle/ something is happening to the lighting in game
- Room light impacting screen (notice the wall behind the XB version is shadowed/ darker)
- TV screens are different brands/ different settings

and

... XB 1080p upscale extra contrast "color pop" + black crush

Let's hope for XB gamers that the last option is not it.

They said that you cant transfer the save but there will a option for the save, possibly something like dragon age keep or an interactive comics.
The enhanced edition i think were free for everybody in 1 and 2.

Prepare for a battle for 2-3 fps difference and CPU-power

Many prefer the warmer hues actually. And you don't need to trade 'color pop' for black crush. Early games had that issue but not all games. Kinda weird in the comparison image in the OP how the camera perspective wildly distorts the apparent size of the table on the left side. Looks really odd in the PS4 image. They really should have gotten a better angle than that for a 'comparison'.

My bet is they get to 1080p on both and X1 has slightly more stable framerate...and then ppl here whine on and on about parity and MS marketing partnerships and assert that CD Projekt Red 'sold us out'. :p

I'm also doubting the textures are at all different.

I'm glad they managed to achieve 1080p for the PS4 version. Despite all the "downgrade" posts as of late in regards to the graphics, the game still looks beautiful to me.

Haven't there been just as many games where the PS4 version runs better?

Many more run better on PS4 up to this point. But when you account for type of game (open world, tons of game heap, lots of simulations going on, potentially significant number of npc's on screen) suddenly it becomes likely we have a CPU-bound game in terms of what determines final framerate. Seeing as it's coming out after MS opened up more CPU to devs (and more GPU too) it's not necessarily gonna fall in line with the earlier multplats that form the baseline for my first sentence here.

We will see. It looks great even at 900p though I'm sure. :D

Yeah, pretty much, these days however, they are on "The pc version is the one to get mode" since maybe the right console is not winning, well, perhaps.

That's okay. Xbox Users will soon be able to buy the PC version and stream it to their Xbox One, giving them the superior version over PS4

But, but, very clever people said here in last W3 thread, that PS4 is not 50% more powerful, how it can be? I'm confused.

Better memory setup, if you are asking seriously. I think this difference it's really underrated, where it's more relevant of their gpu difference.

The difference for me between 1080p and 900p is so small... I'll be picking up this on my XB1 mainly because suspend/resume and so I don't have to change inputs.

Or, well, perhaps, since the PC version is the one to get. Crazy theory I know.

Here's another crazy theory: Most people are reading DF to learn which of the 2 console versions are the best, not confirmation that the PC version (if there is one) is the best.

That' s a little better than I expected, considering how demanding those games usually are. Was expecting 900p PS4 and 720p XB1, like BF4.

Really? I didn't see a single such post, especially not by clever people. Care to link one?

I do remember some very clever posts claiming that a ~50% resolution difference is not enough though.
