Play-Asia have the Atelier (Arland trilogy) games for a decent price in their "Weekly special".

They are all European copies.

Atelier Totori: The Adventurer of Arland (PS3) for US$19.99 (€17,7/£13.2)
Atelier Rorona: The Alchemist of Arland (PS3) for US$19.99 (€17,7/£13.2)

Totori might be slightly cheaper elsewhere.

The Arland Trilogy on one disc will release in March and is listed on amazon.de for 39.99€, if you'd rather not import from PA. And sadly, neither the one on PA or on the trilogy is the enhanced Plus version of Rorona.

There are many returned Vitas from the 99€ amazon.de sale in December, which are sold my amazon WHD "as new" (which means practically unused and they offer detailed descriptions) for 154,22€ with full warranty and support.

i would love to dip into the series but i dont know where to start, what this series is about and which one is good.
since these games always stay 20€+ its a bit hard for me to spend so much money on it.
and yeah, how long are these games? normal playthrough, a couple of side quest'n stuff?

the vita-deal will come back, since there are plenty of vitas lying around everywhere. i assume there will be a sale during easter-holidays.

I'm by no means an expert of the series and only played Rorona Plus on the Vita, which I got digitally for ~20€, but I consider a good starting point and you'll know afterwards if you want to play the other titles or not.

Chronologically it goes Rorona -> Totori -> Meruru, but the original Rorona is supposed to be pretty rough. Rorona Plus includes a lot of the enhancements in graphics and gameplay that were introduced with Totori and Meruru. So by playing Rorona Plus first you'll understand the references in later titles (which I would consider important) but you'll have to accept that Totori might be a slight downgrade from Rorona gameplay-wise.

Rorona Plus is pretty much as long as you want it to be. There is a gameplay loop of accept main/side quest -> go into the wild to fight and gather ingredients -> go back to shop to craft/buy/sell stuff, with story sequences every now and then. The story is very light-hearted and focuses mostly on the characters and their relationship, there is no real conflict or journey, your main goal is simply to prevent your shop from closing down. Every action takes a certain number of days, so you'll have to manage your time because quests are on a timer as well, but it's very lenient and doesn't pressure you too much. Crafting is complex and gives you many options to experiment with and improve your creations (like equipment, food, healing or attack items), but it never felt overwhelming. Combat is not very exciting in general but the game offers side-content which is quite challenging and requires you to get creative with your crafting. An optional boss that killed me in a few turns became managable after I made a few specific healing items and stronger equipment and it was cool to figure out a working strategy by myself.

You'll have to accept that you are going to miss tons of optional story sequences and endings unless you play with a guide from the start or in a second playthrough. In my playthrough without a guide I focused only on a small number of characters (for combat and story) and only got a small number of endings. There is also post-game content which requires you to go really crazy with item/equipment crafting, which I did not go for. I felt satisfied and like I got my money's worth after I beat the main-game, but if the game clicks with you you can probably extend the time of normal playthrough (20-30 hours) to 70+ hours.
 
Does anybody know a cheap place to get a reliable 1TB hard drive for the Wii U?

Portable or desktop are fine, though if desktop, I don't want it taking up a huge amount of space.

At least in terms of the first one, Rorona, it was kind of as long as you want in a sense. There's a lot of characters you can get approval up with, but it's entirely optional. You can go as far as you want with the alchemy system. From what I remember, the only requirement for completing the game is doing the monthly assignments which are kind of easy. You get different endings based on what optional stuff you have done.

In terms of hours I'd say you could probably get through it in about 20-30 if you dabbled a bit in the side stuff but didn't go too crazy. I personally did about 90% of all stuff in the game, saw the majority of the endings outside of the really grindy one(I think it was the money one I was missing?) and I clocked in at about 50 or 60 hours.

Don't think the offer ends in 12 hours... Think you're looking at the timer on the right for their current flash deal, which is Lara Croft.

But yeah, it's a good price for a new 3DS game, especially if you've not played MM before.

You can have Totori and Meruru in your party in the post-game content of Rorona Plus. :) I don't think that's considered a spoiler.
The Vita versions are digital only and I don't see any chance for physical releases at this point.
 
Heard a lot of recommendations for Nippon Yassan here, and I had some questions about it.

Did anyone tried Transi-Logistic with them in Europe? They are saying it's Duty-free and the delay (8-10 days) seem good enough for me, since there's a good delivery company at the end of the process.
Also, wanted to buy something expensive (200+€) since it seems like the best deal without using a forwarding service. Any feedback for this (warranty, what the item looked like when it was delivered, etc) or have you just bought less expensive stuff (<150€)?
I guess that if there's download codes with a preorder, they are sending those to you by email as well, right?

Oh and don't know if some are interested, but Fnac.com still has MM limited edition (the game, not the 3DS) for 55€ .

I used Transi-Logistic once and it was fine and then I realised it's pointless. You're paying duty up-front and getting it in a week and a half versus paying less for FedEx now and maybe avoiding duty entirely AND getting it sooner. It's hard to recommend.

My last FedEx package from them was a New 3DS with games that I got away with, it's worth a go.

With a package over €150 you're NEVER going to avoid paying VAT and import tax using FedEx.
 
Well it was early in November, I think I'm in the clear now :)

I'm just saying I would always take the chance now rather than definitely pay it.

It's about the best price around if you're after the standard edition, AFAIK. Why do you say that it ends at midnight? It's been this price for a few days and I think the countdown shown on the page relates to the 'flash deal' for Temple of Osiris rather than Majora's Mask 3D.

Not for Smash. For the same price he could've gotten an actual Wii U Pro Controller from nippon-yasan if they still had them in stock.

Will think about it, but will probably try EMS instead if I choose this.
9 times out of 10 I had to pay customs with fedex (never paid for something that expensive though, 120€ max). Maybe 6-7/10 times for EMS.

Little update on this:

fromjapan are really awesome.

Item was 3000 Yen on yahoo auctions. I had to pay around 6-7EUR in total for their service. SAL small package postage is around 5EUR to Europe. For the whole thing I paid around 4700 Yen (which includes postage for within Japan, postage to Europe, bank transfer fees, their own fees, item price). I consider this to be really cheap. I definitely can't complain.

And they even allowed me to adjust the value for customs declaration (which I didn't need in this case). Proxies, that do not support SAL small packet are going to be way more expensive than that. fromjapan even told me the exact measurements and weight of the package and I was then able to select the type of transport, that I want to use - and they offer around 10 different types - and they listed the actual price for every one of them.

Wil update again as soon as I receive the package.
 
Can you ever get offers on digital PSN games that aren't through the store? Like, you can buy Steam codes for less than the price on Steam, but can you do the same on PSN?

Wanna get Dying Light, but £55 is fucking steep, considering I'd be able to get it for £40 when its out on disc, or £30 on Steam now.

The problem for me with paying full price for a digital game is that there's no trade-in value at all. Unless it's a very rare game that I'm sure I won't be wanting to trade in, I'm not comfortable paying £30+ for a digital game.

As far as I know they have no restrictions on it at all. I bought TLoU Remastered from the US last week and downloaded it and patched it up no problems.

Awesome. Just ordered! They seem to be owned by HMV but Northern Ireland based.


EDIT: The discount didn't apply for UC4 so I've had to order it again separately. Sent an email to cancel the previous order for it in which the discount failed to go on. Seems the discount code above only works for one item in your basket at a time.
