Amiibo Discussion Thread 2: I Got 99 Pre-orders But A Rosalina Ain't One

After a tip from a friend, I checked out the Gamestop at CityView in Parma, OH. They had about 5 Bowsers on the peg, and I grabbed one.

The girl told me that they actually had no release dates for Wave 3 figures and would be selling them whenever they got them in (minus enough for any preorders for that store)
 
Does anyone know what's happening with Lucario in Canada? L's these only one I didn't get a preorder in cause well...Canada. Is he out on the 30th here too? Thanks.
 
Man, I am really annoyed at these retailer exclusive shenanigans.

I need a North American Lucario and Rosalina for the collection -- I can import for the ones I'm going to open, like I did with Villager -- and I have nfi how I am going to get ahold of one here in Canada.

Time to pester my friends/family in the US, I guess.

Toys R Us site says that Lucario releases on February 6th (next Friday). You could probably call your store and ask them about it.
 
This is entirely anecdotal information so take it for what you will but at least the Targets around my area (Seattle/Redmond) seem to have pretty good stocks of the Rosalina and Luma Amiibo coming in. I went by the one in Redmond on my way into work and the workers there told me:
  1. They are getting 40 Rosalina Amiibo in the initial shipment. All 40 will be out on the shelves on Sunday.
  2. There is a hard "1 per customer" limit to prevent scalping

Hope that helps out some folks around me :)

I still wonder if my Target will do a 1 per customer on Rosalina since I'm located in a small, but still decently populated town, especially when college students are here. If they do, maybe I'll just buy one, give it away, then wait a day or so to see if I can get another. Really, the two exclusives I care the most about are Shulk & Meta Knight. Rosalina might be useful to me in the future, but have no interest in Lucario.

Still makes me glad they're doing this. Though part of me wishes if they did 2 for customer, that'd be the perfect number since some people might grab one for them & another for a friend, sibling, other kid, etc.

They BETTER have it in by the given date!! I am not a morning person and hate waking up earlier already, but waking up to find NONE would be terrible...

Hopefully by Sat night they will have it in and certain about it.

I refuse to support scalpers, no matter how bad I may want something. It just encourages them to keep screwing everybody over.

It'll be funny if rosalina turns out to be easier to get than meta knight.

BB just recently mass canceled preorders for the new MM 3dsxl, so it doesn't really matter how long they had preorders up.

When were you there? There were MUCH more people there than I ever expected. I'm also curious as to how long it was until the exclusives and/or sheik ran out. Might give me an idea of how many they had in total.

The only thing I'll do it for if I miss it is Zelda memorabilia. Can't stand it but missing out hurts more than paying the price on something like that for me.
 
So I called GS corporate CS about my send-to-store pre-order I had. They said it's a known issue so it looks like yes, in some cases that they do NOT show up in store. (Note for people with Miibos doing the same that have employees say it's not showing up). CS said my item was shown on her menu, so it is fine. Also helped me fix a bit of a coupon issue.

Calling corporate is the way to go for issues! Regular CS is just the basics. Stores should really say "if you have a simple problem, please call this number to chat with people with limited access to your order" and "if you have a problem that they can't figure out to fix, call this number!"

What a nice guy! I might be going with a buddy so if there's enough and I don't see some poor soul missing out on one, then I'll have her grab an extra amd give that away.

To anybody who got the email this morning:



I just called mine and they still have my preorder. I suggest calling your TRU if you got this email to confirm they have your preorder before giving up hope and cursing TRU forever like I was doing this morning, lol.

I was checking brickseek for my Target's Sheik stock every 15 minutes. Suddenly 4 of them show up in stock. So I rushed over to Target, and they can't find them anywhere. They don't show up as being in the back room.

Fail.

Gonna run buy Meijer and TRU on friday to see if they have any Sheik/Toon Link in stock. Went a week ago and they were cleaned out but I managed to snag a Samus.

Mine had the pegs and labels up for them & for Ike, Dedede, Sonic, & Mega Man, plus about 6 Bowsers. Seems they might get them eventually, so if you don't find any today, check in a few days.

Oh mine was for another item, but I figured I should point it out for people with Miibos that might have the same issue that I do. (Mine is much more bigger as an LE, thus harder to just sell to anyone :p)

they should have been able to see if there were any in the store though. May have come in on the truck but is sitting unlocated in a cart somewhere waiting to be pushed or backstocked. Could have also been in a scalpers cart.

Or talk to a manager. Target employees have been known to hide them in the back but show them as on the shelf to buy them and scalp them later.

I have no issues with paying for shipping. I also am MORE then willing to pay cost and shipping for a Rosalina (Cost up front, shipping when costs are determined).

Yeah, he showed me his PDA and it just said "4 in stock (none in back)" or something like that. I guess it would make sense if it was in a cart somewhere waiting to be put on the shelf.

I live in a small Idaho town, so although there's been high demand for some of these amiibos, I haven't run into scalping situations nearly as bad as this thread has reported elsewhere.

Yeah, I'm gonna go with Modbot. I might have it so the raffles goes 24 hours after I get back home from Target & GameStop, so that way Monday morning, a winner can be chosen & then hopefully get it shipped out later that day, or perhaps Tuesday afternoon if I don't get an address in time.

Looking over the Modbot rules now. I THINK I know what to do, along with what rules I need to apply (so RAFFLE24, NOWINNERSDAILY, & MULTIENTRY to let it so people can enter for Rosalina & Fox, but prevents them from winning both, right?).
 
Called every Target and TRU in my area. No Target has Sheik yet and every TRU has sold out of them. Guess I just wait for Amazon to send mine in March. :/

Yeah. If my son was just collecting them out of box, then I would have jumped on one of the imported figures. But so far (with the exception of some extras) he's kept his collection minty fresh in package.

So having uniform packaging is paramount.
