Amiibo Discussion Thread 2: I Got 99 Pre-orders But A Rosalina Ain't One

I was able to get the whole Mario party set but didn't bother. I've always wanted a set of smash Bros figures. Let's face it, there are characters here that would never get a figure otherwise. Now standard Mario figures are more then plentiful. You can find great Mario universe figures at reasonable prices fairly easy. I'm gonna collect the smash series and if they do Zelda figures for future Zelda games I'll most likely get then also. Other then that I won't bother with every single amiibo Nintendo releases.

So far the actual in game use for these things is pretty mediocre imo. I'm just collecting because I collect figures. Decent Mario universe figures are a dime a dozen.
 
Damn I step away and open some Amiibo and you all post like 3 pages! Man this moves fast. Anyways, what do you think of my work in progress? I still need to open some commons up.

idk if people are interested but i might be able to get some cpt falcon, pit, mac. wave 2 is releasing in peru, each amiibo here goes for 20usd and shipping to the us is about 5-6 usd (for 1 amiibo :/)

dont think its a long shot but we are getting new stock this weekend.
 
In Australia, i've had Dedede, Shulk and Megaman preordered at EB Games. Haven't been able to make it into the store all day, but I'll probably get there around 5:30pm. They better not have sold 'em and broken my preorder. I doubt it, as it hasn't happened before, but I've heard horror stories!
 
I ordered the Lucina Figma myself. Maybe in a month or two I'll order that Guts Figma too. I like my BERSERK stuff.

At least I guarantee something Lucina if I get screwed out of an Amiibo.

For the shipping, SAL is enough since there's no rush. You could go registered but I don't think there's any other point unless in situations where it wasn't delivered straight to you. In that case it's probably at the post office and you just have to give them a call.

It takes about 2-3 weeks (for reference, my monthly shipment is coming now. Shipped on the 21st, will be here on the 3rd by their estimate).

And then you have a shiny new Lucina to behold and worship.

No but seriously look at him! So niceee and blueee! I like that he doesn't have any weird stand around him like other figures or the infamous piss colored stand of Link haha.

You are safe man. The ones I've visited today told me they had none for sale and all were for pre-orders so you will be okay :)

I had him & Lucina in my cart on Monday, went to check out, but then decided not to go through with the order b/c I was worried about the (un-quoted) shipping costs. :S

Nippon-Yasan's pre-orders are already closed too but it looks like Play-Asia still has him in-stock, albeit at a much higher price. :(

Lucky you, my boyfriend this it's a waste of time and money. Which makes my hunt even more difficult, considering how much time we spend together.
 
I'm glad I can easily resist these figmas everyone keeps posting I boight a few awhile ago thinking they were kinda neat... Got tired of it real quick something about the way they look and the stand that holds them up just really irks me or something just not happy with the quality of how they look for the price... Yet yes I do love amiibos for some reason... Idk figmas just feel cheap to me for the price....
The only figma I kept was Link... Just cause I'm a collector of all things Zelda releated.

Was told by an employee at Target Australia that one store sold out within half an hour of the store opening.

All I wanted was a Mega Man.

To be honest with you I still think it looks cheap. Every time I see the figmas thats all that runs through my head is I know its not worth the price for me... And I dis try them the pics seemed cool got the metroid one, Mario one, Link obviously, and few others quickly grew tired of them couple fell apart with little to no use. So I sent them back....

amiibo are getting harder to find. Most of the people who want them know how fast they can sell so they just buy it now on impulse. You either have to preorder or be lucky you're there when those one or two shipments are opened and displayed.

Yeah dude, they sell out so fast. EB Games can't even display them because almost all of the ones they get are given to those who preordered with them. For Target, you need to be there when they open to get what you want.

Just preorder from EB. They price match and you can cancel any orders you don't want.

The free! figmas though... yikes. Seeing all those joints ruins the shirtless factor they had going on.

If I were to buy any others it'll be for MegaMan Really like the D Arts Zero one just can't bring myself to purchase it... Zero was my favorite MegaMan series and the MegaMan games never got a ton of collectibles..
 
I've only ever bought one "real" figure... and it cost a bundle (about $150 including shipping, taxes, and customs fees). It's great, and I don't regret buying it, but it taught me that proper figure collecting is not for me. They're too costly and I don't get enough out of it.

(If anyone's curious, this is the figure)

Yeah, that was the issue I had with the Kill la Kill figures, all the visible joints on the skin kind of ruined them for me.

But besides that on the Amiibo front checked Target on my way home and didn't see anything interesting. Will be busy tomorrow so I won't be able to check again until Friday.
 
Man, I wish Meta Knight didn't have black marks on his mask. I also don't like Rosalina's nails.

Apart from those two criticisms, everyone else is great. My favourites from wave 3 are Mega Man, Toon Link, Ike, and Dedede. Lucario also looks great, but he's quite fragile to hold.

I had Shulk preordered from Mighty Ape Australia, but it seems that Nintendo didn't send enough stock to fulfil all the preorders (that's starting to be a running theme). No idea when I'll get him now - he seems to be out of stock everywhere else in Australia (he was apparently back on EB Games, but then went out of stock again a minute later).

just got my Rosalina and Lucario from Amazon UK
left with Shulk and Meta-Knight that have yet to ship

what's the best way to sign up for notifications so I don't miss out when the items go up on Amazon.com, Amazon UK, Amazon DE and/or Amazon FR

I'm in Singapore - but I've preordered everything from Amazon.com and UK thus far

Did you get a refund or is your order just in limbo?

Amiami is very fair with shipping costs. They aren't quoted until the stuff is in stock. When the order comes to payment, you'll get to select shipping speed. Use PayPal.

That doesn't help you now though. Have you tried Hobby Link Japan?
 
When I talked to the clueless Target employee today she was like "were you looking to put one on hold?" so I was all like "yeah, if possible I guess" "ohhhh cause we don't really... put things on hold..." 0_o
Why... even bring it up? I didn't even ask it... :/

Went to GS too and turns out that their Bowser shipment was supposed to be in today but wasn't. :/

It's still in limbo for now. I do hope they'll manage to get stock again at some point (the email I got from them advised that it "may take some time") - I'm leaving my order there just in case!

Seriously, they're being disgusting about this. That Mac Amiibo really shouldn't be anything more than a $12 figurine, but Nintendo seems hellbent on making each and every last Amiibo into a modern-day Honus Wagner card.
