Of course you run into a problem if one of the ones that you really want is a heavily-scalped/limited-quantity item, as have most of the ones I've been chasing (got really lucky with Marth and Villager).

My favorite amiibos? Lucario, Meta Knight, Fox, Captain Falcon, and Little Mac. Urgh.

I pray that Greninja, Olimar and Duck Hunt are commons. This has been a struggle.

The guy was probably just a Nintendo worker that maintains the retail display and stuff. I wouldn't take whatever he represents as representative of NoA's position.

Yes it would. Scalpers go where money is. If these were easily available in stores with frequent restocks, they'd have no market of people willing to pay higher prices.

I dont see Nintendo ever improving though, as the frenzy makes their products look special while the wiiu sells like shit.

Oh, then yeah, imposing a limit on in store purchases should definitely be made in these retailers. As well as making sure that there are enough goods to cover both preorders and the estimated amount of in store buyers. Like if there are 12 preorders, there should be 24 of that amiibo in stores at the least. If there are any preorders that request more than 1, they should be notified that only a quantity of 1 will be made per order.

I still don't know how they can overcome the issue of alt accounts being made but I think it is possible.

I don't even understand how an artificial scarcity helps Nintendo at this point. Maybe driving up demand for Amiibo would work for them... if they actually bothered to restock them. (unlikely given the quick pace of release) If they are intentionally keeping stocks low, the only base they are serving is the scalper market which gains from the high resale value.

I agree though, the situation in NA is beyond fucked at this point. Them having higher stock of future Amiibos does not make up for the low stock of half the Amiibo they have released so far.

I remember waiting for about 2 hours at GS for SSB Wii U's midnight release & I saw TWO guys in shorts, and it was probably around the same temperature, if not COLDER. I've heard that Nintendo sends out shipments on Thursdays, and Toys R Uses started putting Wave 3 out early last Thursday, so checking back next Thursday or Friday sounds like a good plan.

I won't be buying any of them at a higher retail value unless it is an import, but even then it would only be for ones I really want. (in which case is Meta-Knight when I lose out at his release...) Nintendo needs to nail down hard dates for these things. Its sooooooo frustrating when they say February but then let stores sell them when they get them. I'm not the kind to complain about companies but this is ridiculous. I gave them the benefit of the doubt with the first two waves cus I assumed they did not think they would be so popular. Now that they know there is no excuse for how sloppily they handle all this. I should not be this fucking stressful getting some of these. I mean at least give everybody a fair shake by giving us a date and sticking with it. Instead they say "February" and still manage to fuck that up.

The whole situation is just nuts. You would think that by making a character retailer exclusive, it would mean that because not every store is getting it, the ones that are are receiving a lot of them. Lucario's rarity is essentially that of a Captain Falcon or Pit... but he is available only at a fraction of the stores the others were at.

One of the guys in line says it takes about 6 months between the time a store orders amiibo and the time they get them. Claimed a nintendo rep told him, but who knows. Said that stores place orders with nintendo, then it takes about 6 months or so to manufacture and ship. We're 3 months into this nonsense, so i'm hoping that if he was correct, then in 3 month's time, we'll see some more show up on shelves, provided nintendo didn't do a hard discontinue on some of these. ESPECIALLY not the retailer exclusive ones.
