What about their own Nintendo World Store in NYC. You'd think there would be a steady inventory stream at their own store.
 
Woke up late and got to toys r us around 9:35. Saw a few people lined up and practically ran out of my car. Thankfully our store had "ten" extra (four were snaggedny employees). Ended up being fifth in line and getting one. The cool thing about it was the manager came to the door before they opened and told us it was a strict one per person policy for anyone wanting a lucario. One lady in front of me was wanting three for her kids so was kinda peeved. I was pretty shocked that there wasn't a single "scalper" lined up there.

Any who, I feel like I got a damn good experience based in what I've read : )

That sounds like BS. These are manufactured two maybe three months ahead of time. If they order 6 months ahead, it takes 3-4 months for them to prepare for manufacturing? Don't think so. Maybe 4 months in advance but not 6.
 
I was the third person in line, and the two people in front of me bought up the entire stock of Lucario. I am assuming the same will be said for the rest of Wave 3, so I just bit the bullet and paid import pricing for whatever is available. I'll check GameStop on Feb. 13th for Shulk, Sonic, and Bowser as those are currently the only ones I haven't ordered yet.

When's Wave 4 and Super Mario pre-orders ;__;

Yeah, it doesn't make much sense from the retailer perspective. The exclusives are supposed to draw people in to purchase other items. How is that accomplished when you can't get one unless you're there in the first few minutes?
 
I was able to snag the last two. One for me and one for a buddy. Small line outside Toys R Us. Had maybe...7 Lucario figures. I also heard my local Target put out Rosalina early and if you tried to buy it they put it on hold for you for Sunday. I missed out on that but will be there Sunday morning!
 
I have Lucario on Toys R Us ebay hopefully it comes through if not I don't really want him anyway.

I have MeraKnifght at best buy it says he's coming out in December 2015 lol

Rosalina should be coming from Amazon.fr but like many have said here not upon their estimated release date - oh well.

Shulk I have zero to no interest in.

I hope I get Wave 4 if not I won't lose sleep. I have all of Wave 3 covered under Amazon and GameStop. If I don't pick up my ore order at GameStop do I still get charged? I got a Sonic at Amazon and no longer need to Gamestop one but apparebtly you can't cancel him

Kind of like another person posted before about parents bringing all their kids, I think that's also a bit of BS. So really you buy each and every one of your kids all the Amiibo? That's thousands of freaking dollars. Or all your kids' fav character is Lucario? Also BS. These parents are using their kids to scalp. Someone pls tell me I'm wrong and they actually do this for their kids. I want to be wrong.
 
Waiting to see shulk for 20 range. My rule is the ones I really want to not pay more than that.
Next wave though I think I'll just import the ones I want if I can't get preorders from Amazon.

They got a ton of Bowser, Toon Link, Shiek, Rosalina, Lucario, and Shulk earlier in the week and sold out of everything but Bowser pretty much in one day.

They still have Bowser but that's it
 
Man, I'm really kicking myself over not pre-ordering MetaKnight. Never been a big Kirby fan so I didn't really care at announcement, but I've come to appreciate the character in Smash and love the look of the figure. Hopefully I can find one to import.

Visited Target, too; asked about Rosalina, and the lady rolled out about, no joke, 30 of them. Was stopped at checkout, but at least it sounds like it wont be hard to get one!

That's pretty messed up. You'd think the clerks would notice the line of people waiting to buy one and not sell their entire stock to the first two people.

Sounds like a great way to please customers and ensure business from them in the future. /s

Oh, I know. I was so pissed they started selling them on Tuesday as a blizzard was approaching. I work in NYC a block away from them on Thurs and Fri, every week. I was talking about restocking, at their own store, I'd expect to see stock sooner than regular retail and more steady. More so, since they were selling the retail exclusives as well.
 
My GameStop is pissed and they're actually calling all of us who they know aren't scalpers to come get our stuff. They think the scalpers are ridiculous and they're pissed nintendo won't set a limit.

Either way that lady still ended up taking the last two toon links and two bowsers. Trying to complete three sets is pure madness.
 
Man, all of these TRU stories are nuts. I had a mostly pleasant experience, although there were only 4 non preorders, there were about 6 of us in line and and the first four were already given the non preorders. The rest of us came by had preorders and were just chewing the fat and talking about how dumb this whole situation had gotten. But they had a stack of probably 5 boxes labeled preorder and getting mine was painless.

Man today is getting really weird. All these depressing stories are getting me down. The fact that a GameStop has to call people who are not scalpers is nuts.

Well this sucks. I have two of almost all wave 3 preordered with them. I guess I won't get a call because I look like a scalper.

Shulk has a release date of Feb 13th, and at least at my store they aren't going to get enough to satisfy preorders. They said some people are coming in and preordering 8+ of them, and they know that they aren't regulars.

I understand why they would be mad as well. These people aren't return customers. They won't sign up for things and they won't preorder outside of what they're scalping.
 
Has anybody heard any word from Toy's R Us' eBay page? I asked two employee's and they didn't know anything about there own eBay page or if it was reliable or not. You can't even contact them on eBay and its very frustrating.

I can't imagine retailers being happy if their exclusive toy that they made a deal with Nintendo to stock is gone and done in the first few minutes of one day. It works against their own interests.

This whole situation is fucked if you aren't a scalper. Collectors are going nuts, the general public doesn't even know they exist, retailers can't meet demand, and Nintendo isn't moving a finger to alleviate the situation when at the very least they could promise more restocks like Marth. It is especially baffling for them to do this given the huge sales of Amiibos and how a large majority of those sales could probably be attributed only to half the line that they bothered to make. Hell, they could probably delay Wave 4 and the Super Mario line for a couple of months, and instead bring back all the rares, and sales would still be high since those characters might as well be releasing for the first time.
 
You know for a fact that there will be a limited edition mewtwo amiibo once he is released... That one is going to be a pain to get.

Yeah this is what I'm sitting here wondering. Should I buy one on ebay or import or take my chances on if my online preorder will even ship. I wonder if stores are getting short handed Amiibos because they have a bunch allocated to ship for the online orders...

I contacted customer service and they would "let me know when it's available for shipping". That's all I could get out of them.

So much for customing a shiny Lucario.
 
Neither me or the bf were very concerned with Lucario, but he decided to stop by TRU just to see what it was like- there was some guy there asking him if he'd seen one and he said he was just kinda looking. I guess the guy asked an employee cause he said they were all gone and people had been lined up for them. lol Luckily, we don't really want Lucario that much, so it's no biggie. Still kinda crazy, though. He's worried about Sunday and Rosalina now, but I'm thinking we may just need to go to the mid county Target rather than the Beaumont one as I am sure less people will be there. (This was all in TX btw since people wanna know the areas sometimes)

Those stores can actually just set their own limits, especially if a manager is okay with it. They can refuse a sale if they wanted to, it would actually benefit them too those Amiibo's are highly sought out and will be bought out to begin with. So all those stores would essentially be doing is promoting GameStop's image, and customer satisfaction for gamers who actually come in wanting to actually play or use the items that are sold there and not trying to pull a profit off of GameStop.
 
Went to my EB today and they only had Bowsers. Toon Link and Shiek were pre-order only.

This is getting ridiculous. I like amibos but collecting them is such a pain in the ass so I don't know why I bother.

Didn't they announce the amiibo functionality for the upcoming Kirby game after preorders were gone? I ordered dedede since he looks awesome, but want meta knight now to have all three for the Kirby game.

Just have to hope Nintendo keeps figures with actual game functions in stock more, they're even reprinting marth for that reason.

At TRU in FL and some douchebag ordered 40 Lucarios.

Edit: They literally had a shopping cart loaded and ready to go for him...along with 10 Sheiks. Some people are the worst.
