If they made a conscious decision to run the ball 3 times, they would not have ran so much clock. Time was not an issue, especially with one timeout left. You can run a play with 10 seconds left on third down, call a TO, and run one more play.

If they run and don't get it, and call a time out, they only have one more try most likely.

The way they did it they had 3 tries at least. Yes it was bad it was intercepted but I doubt anyone was thinking an interception was coming.

Even if he's 1 and 5 the Patriot had a 81% rate of allowing a score. They were dead last in the NFL and its 2nd down on like the 3 yard line. Not running it there was silly.
