Super Bowl XLIX |OT| The Butler Did It

He's a decent QB, but not a great one. There's been way too much hype around him. Seahawks offense is not based on needing a spectacular QB. Just a competent one.

Basically, Wilson is the second coming of Kyle Orton. The most adequate man in football.

Best football game I've ever seen. There was no way the game could have gone to be more intense. And two miracle plays in the final minute.

Worst football call I've ever seen. Earlier in the game (as Seattle went for and got the TD when a FG was the safe call) I was thinking that these were the two best coaches in the league. The two coaches who would be willing to make the right call instead of the safe call. Willing to go for it on 4th downs when necessary, to go for TDs instead of settling for the fool's gold of a FG. Which makes it all the more unbelievable that one of them made such an inexplicably bad call... I won't say they threw the game away, because it was a great game all the way through, and they just got a miracle catch of their own. But, they threw the game away. Lynch must have been 99.99% certain to score.

For now I'm going to give the benefit of the doubt on deflate-gate, and feel good for Brady getting this win. Up against perhaps the best team in history against the pass and he throws the ball 50 times. Edelman should probably have been MVP though.

Danny Amendola was awesome in the postseason. I hope he takes a pay cut and stays with the Patriots, but I imagine he'll just get cut.

Yeah, not convinced of this yet...before the playoffs no doubt...probably still happens, but Edelman is prone to get banged up and not having a replacement could be bad.

Oh hey, pats won the SB...

Wilson is basically the next Trent Dilfer

Terrible QB who rides a great defense to a superbowl

nah he's not terrible but he's nowhere near as good as andrew luck, let alone the elite QB's in the league. he is afforded incredible luxuries due to a variety of reasons (great running game, remedial/easy reads due to the threat of the run, best defense in the league) so as long as he has those things he is good enough to not be too much of a liability on the team but i doubt seattle will ever be able to depend on him as some dominant/elite QB

Somehow went from horrendous signing to awesome in just a few games. I still can't fucking believe the Pats won the super bowl. Edelman is so damn underrated. He's a monster in big games. Guy always make clutch plays, and has not failed like Welker has in the past. He's just money. Lafell was another just great signing. Nothing flashy, but always can count on him for a few catches. Really awesome group of players. They can basically play any style of football you want, and beat you at it.

He is about to become the most overpaid QB in league history, so good on him I guess. Once that defense falters he is gong to be nothing.

So sick of seeing this, to be honest. Russell is absolutely not a terrible QB. He is a very good QB, super versatile and a great head on his shoulders.

He hasn't won a game where his opponent has scored 28 points in his career. He's not going to carry a team offensively. It was more obvious this year than last when he didn't need to score to win the super bowl. He's a game manager and there is nothing wrong with that at all, but him not being great means they aren't going to win super bowls when his defense gives up 28 points. I'd still take him over the majority of quarterbacks but he was immensely overrated after winning just as Joe Flacco was when he won. His inexperienced showed on that last play. There is no way an experienced quarterback makes the bad throw or doesn't just dump the entire play knowing it's a bad call.

So I vote Branduil for Saltiest SeaDog of the night.

Cheating Pats. Ready the asterisk.
They just got away with pass interference. These cheaters deserve everything they get and more.
The asterisk approaches.
Look we already know Pats fans don't care about ethics, no need to rub it in our faces. Enjoy your tainted victory.
King of cheaters.
Screw you.
Methinks the cheater doth protest too much.
Is there anyone on the Pats who isn't an unlikeable douchebag?
Goodell is busy burning the evidence as we speak. No way does he let anything get out now.
"Sore losers"=how fans of New England think of people with a shred of ethical fiber.
If you want to celebrate cheaters that's fine but don't expect other people to respect you for it.
You sound like a sociopath LOL. Try not to murder anyone when you riot tonight.
Quick man. I think there are some cars outside your house that aren't on fire.

So do we put an asterisk next to the Patriots like the San Francisco Giants the year Melky got busted?

J/k Nice Guile comeback tonight

E: Don't know if posted but Seattle early favorites for next year?

The stare down didn't really matter. He was either open or he wasn't. It was man D and the DB was going to keep to his man.

What went wrong was that the WR slowed down and that Wilson led him too much. If the QB threw that behind, or on the WR, that was a TD. WR's instinct was correct IMO because that's where he had the block and the DB was overtaking him.
It absolutely mattered. Butler saw the slant and watched as Wilson eyed him the whole time. He even said as much. Yeah, the WR got jammed a bit, but Wilson should've thrown it away. The window for that pass is one second. Anything doesn't go right at the snap and you just get rid of it,

Not with wilson taking up all that cap space they aren't. Say what you want about brady, but the man took a pay cut in order to keep his team in the up and up while wilson is going to take the money and watch his team fall apart because of it.

In 2-3 years half or more of seattle's big names will be elsewhere because they won't be able to afford them, and I'm assuming it's going to start with lynch and one of their big name DBs this season.

woot.

Patriots now confirmed best of all time.
Suck it haters.

That discussion is definitely back on the table now that brady is tied with Bradshaw and Montana for wins. Most super bowl starts is certainly impressive though. Plus he has the advantage in super bowl tds. And 2007 season speaks for itself.

Had to check again but ESPN bottomticker confirmed Seattle 5-1 early favorites
