Woah. I am not an expert in baseball but I have always heard of tommy john surgery as being especially bad. Am I wrong in thinking that?
It's a long recovery no doubt, but pitchers can come back from that fully, a DB should be fine and ready for next season (assuming no complications).

What do the Pats need?

Let's not over analyze a game that came down to a bad call in one yard. Both teams made big mistakes for it to come down to that.

...so let's not talk about it? What he hell kind of post is this?

Seattle lost. They are not Super Bowl Champions, or were as dominant as their previous campaign up to the game. They need to improve their team.

Patriots still need a better defense and o-line.

Arrington's poor game gave way to Butler...Chris Matthews was killing NE, should have put browner on him after halftime, left Arrington out there on the first drive after halftime, then in comes Butler for Arrington.

Seemed like a continuation of the GB game to me. If Rodgers is healthy GB wins that game by 14+. Pats used the Packers play book on Seattle.

If Rodgers were healthy, yeah that would've been an easy win with how bad the Hawks Offense were playing at the time. Our defense gets a lot of praise but I think they've been hobbling by compared to the superbowl year. Just too many injuries and all.

It's also pretty insane to think Lynch was almost a non-factor in this game. He was, but in the grand scheme of things we contained him to the point where 100+ yards seemed like it was worth it. Second half he had more traction for sure.

Seahawks need receivers that aren't trash. Simple as that. Wilson is still maturing, and most of his criticisms come from absolutely awful route intelligence.

Better receivers might help with consistency but they've done their job this season. It's the O-Line that needs a lot more help especially when looking at the tougher matches this season. There are just a ton of problems including lots of penalties this season. I really wish we had someone like Walter Jones for us =(

I'm curious to see who will rise in the NFC, Seattle will be on the decline now. Especially since they will have to pay Wilson. This was their best chance to get another title in the near future. It was obvious they weren't nearly as dominant this year. They weren't even the best team in the NFC to get to the Super Bowl and lucked their way there. Too bad the Bears aren't in a position to take advantage. Probably end up being Green Bay.

Seattle needs to get a real WR. At least one guy who can get separation from defenders. Then defenses can't stack the box in cover 1 all game. Oline help as well but Wussle is pretty elusive.

Felt bad for Arrington. He was having a rough day. He's been solid all season, but that match up was too much for him. Man if the Pats had a better dline they would be insane on defense.

I don't have a proper analysis as a whole for the season. For the Green Bay game in reflection, I attribute most of Russell's picks due to lack of options and frustration. This game, there were several moments where he had a world of time and some of the core couldn't figure it out.

With marshawn leaving, I wouldn't be surprised to see Russell Wilson in the CFL in the next few years

He's just not a good quarterback. He needs a great defense to do all the hard work.

Sorry to break it to you, but don't be salty, Seattle fans

You had your chance at a potential mini dynasty, but the better team won, and they were clearly better all game

lolol this is a joke right?

Yeah the stress on a DB elbow isn't a big factor at all compared to say a QB or pitcher. In baseball I'm sure it takes way longer bringing that back to full strength.

They'll get back a healthier Dominique Easley next season, that'll help. They need to upgrade on Rob Ninkovich in one of the first few rounds.

Easley is looking like a bust to me, but who knows. There pass rush is a major achilles. The whole group should be back at least I think it will be next year. Too bad there's no game changing pass rushers available out there.

Almost forgot about Easley, and I would love for them to get a Ninkovich replacement in the first or second round. That would be ideal. I think this was Wilforks last season with the Pats. He started to look worn down at the end of the season. Doesn't look like nearly the same player anymore.

Easley showed some flashes man. Too early to call on that one. Always considered him a player for next season not this one.

I'm suggesting don't be one-sided about it. If the Pats let a team like the Hawks, a team that needs so much improvement, come close to winning a Superbowl, what does that say about what the Pats needs?

Not sure how I'm being one-sided. I wasn't talking about the Patriots, but to satisfy I tossed in a couple things that need to be addressed.

not a "good" defense, the best defense in the league. i think he is a good QB but my entire point is many of his "heroics" (and he does make plays at times, as i said) would be rendered moot if he were playing with an average or below average defense. when you know that on any given sunday, in todays NFL, 17-20 points is going to be enough to win the game that is a heavy weight off your shoulders.

Gotcha. Point understood, and I don't disagree. Just wanted to clarify that you thought he was a good qb and is in a different class than Kyle Orton and Trent Dilfer, unlike other posters had suggested.

was doug baldwins penalty celebration shitting out the football or something?

I very much agree with this, it also help that Matthews is a 6 foot 5 inch vs Arrginton who is 5 foot 10. Any QB in the league would have looked great with that mismatch.

Just think if Butler was deactivated for like Tyms or someone

Wouldn't have been shocking considering they knew they would be in base D most of the game. With Arrington and Logan Ryan as your 3rd and 4th cb, glad they didn't.

Yeah, he has played great most of the year...unfortunate he had his worse game in the SB, but it worked out!

Mayo isn't their best linebacker anymore. He's gotten slower and he's been injured the past two seasons. Dont'a Hightower and Jamie Collins have both surpassed him.
a healthy mayo is the pats best linebacker in my opinion. Hightower and collins are good at certain roles. One is a superb run stopper and the other is a acceptional pass rusher. Mayo while healthy is our best coverage linebacker and tackler. He can also stop the run and pass rush well. I like Ninkovinch better then hightower and collins.

Game could have been blown wide open if Kearse had made that catch when the Seahawks were up 10. It was in both hands before he dropped it. But instead they punted. That was the turning point of the game. Think Seattle would have cruised if he caught that ball.

The 2nd and 1 play was just miserable. I really hate the Patriots. Snow bowl and now this shit. Tom Brady is a fraud. He should have one Super Bowl win at most.

Haha, a fraud. Tying Montana with SB wins, breaking SB TD record, among a ton of other awards. Brady is a top 3 QB of all time easily, probably #1 after tonight.

It's bad for a pitcher in that the recovery time is so long. But then again, it's long for a pitcher because that ligament needs to throw 90mph for 100 pitches every five days. I doubt a cornerback would need a year to recover like a pitcher does. And if anything Tommy John makes a pitcher stronger. It's not unheard of for 20 yo pitchers to elect to have it. It's almost a performance enhancer, really.

This was on the most exciting sporting events i have witnessed in many years - the last was the Man U Champion League win against Bayern Munich.

Pats winning is whats best for business.
in one way i can not wait for him to take over the business because vince is senile and out of touch on the other hand if he does take over the business is phill brooks one day ever has the URGE to return, its not going to happen
