Seriously though - why do they schedule the tournament for the same weekend as the biggest annual TV and sporting event in the world? It seems very strange to me to be that short sighted. Surely they would get more viewers if the didn't hold the finals on the same day as the Super Bowl?
Oh, that's weird. I definitely watched Smash 4 top 8 on VGBC, it would just be further back. Maybe it only archives so far or something. Sorry, but glad you found it.
Yeah, I'm sure they didn't want to be in the same weekend. Don't know why they did that. Is the Super Bowl the same weekend every year? Maybe they didn't know or just didn't realize until it was too late.

So I was kinda busy playing Smash/hanging out while Smash 4 was going on, and not paying enough attention. I also didn't catch its Salty Suite or any of the bracket really. Can anyone point me towards some highlight sets? The only one I know I want to rewatch is Mr. R vs Nietono. Fun character lol.

Zero a Diddy Kong Player won the Smash 4 Singles Grand Finals against Dabuz a Olimar player
EG | PPMD a Marth Player won the Melee single Grand Finals against Armada a Fox player
Armada(Fox) and Android(Shiek) Lose to M2K(Sheik) and Liquid Box(JigglyPuff) in Melee Doubles Grand Finals
All in all Apex 2015 was fucking awesome. I definitely plan on attending next year especially if it takes place in New Jersey again. It made this weekend so awesome. All together Apex 2015 amassed over 100k live views according to Twitch. Goes to show Smash Bros is loved by everyone including the FGC. Esports are getting huge these days.

I don't have Youtube links, but things to add to the summary: Mango calls out Leffen to a $1000 money match if they meet in bracket. Then they meet in bracket.
Also, PewpewU beating Hungrybox and aMSa taking Mango to game 5 are big highlights too. But those were just notable good matches, and I'm sure there are tons of those across both top 8s.
Also, it makes me sad to hear "Armada, a Fox player." RIP in peace AR's Peach.

Good. That crap isn't needed. All versions can co-exist and even if one prefers one over another that behavior isn't needed. I wonder if there is video of it?
For certain matchups. He said going in that he wanted to use it for Fox dittos and for fighting Jigglypuff. He was using it against PP's Marth too, though the Peach came out a time or two I think (at least against the bird). But Armada said he's gonna keep playing Peach in teams at least. He gets asked a question about it in the post-tournament interview, goes into some detail.
Watching all this, it definitely felt like Armada was a Fox player now.

Finally saw Zero VS Dabuz. It wasn't bad at first but by that last match you could just tell Dabuz's spirit was completely broken.
The announcement had nothing to do with Nintendo.
Agreed, it won't happen, but I'd be super pleased if EVO top 3 was:

2.Leffen
3. Amsa
His yoshi is just incredible. I actually really like his GreNinja in Smash 4 as well so if he got top 3 in Smash 4 as well I'd be even happier, haha.

(Well, actually, he says he's not dropping Peach completely but that he has to have Fox for certain MUs and Peach for certain MUs).
Watching Melee at Apex made me think that this game really need more support from Nintendo, the least they could do is an HD port, if only to save the community from having to use CRTs and GCs, adding a good online mode would be great too.
I never really played Melee and the rapid camera zoom-in/zoom-out make me dizzy, yet it still is pretty fun game to spectate, that was an excellent top 8.

Though I think he's exaggerating. Armada had a pocket Fox even as far back as his first American tournament. This and Paragon are just the first tournaments where we've seen it put in work, so I guess he's didn't really put a ton of effort and focus into developing it until now.

I was having some doubts about Melee continuing to grow. But the show last night really knocked it out of the park. This game still has an exciting future ahead of it.
I picked up Peach as a main in Melee thanks to Armada and committed myself to learning her in Smash 4 because of it...
End of an era. Is Hungrybox the only one left of the highest of the top professionals who uses a character outside of the Top 4?
Honestly, Marth seems like a great counterpick to Fox and Falco. Still it's getting to the point where the Meta is evolving around 4 characters, and that sucks.
If Melee HD ever does happen, I hope Nintendo does a rebalance just so we can get some different characters at the top again.
