Sure they are. This technology could exist then because it's based largely on Tesla's inventions of the time (when considering the lightning gun) and on a very simple chemical reaction (when looking to the thermite rifle).
The internal political landscape would also be very different due in large part to there being half breed monstrosities walking around. The onus to spend exorbitant resources to develop and manufacture these weapons exists in this alternate world that didn't in ours.
Seems entirely plausible to me.

Hey guys, I made a 5 minute illustration of The Order 1886. I took inspiration from one of the segments in the game that is creepy, so it's a little dark and disturbing. I had the original song of the Knight's Theme by Jason Graves but the song got claimed by SME and had to re-upload with a different song lol. :\ There's a few hidden tidbits there for people who can pay enough attention when you see the final.

I just want to say, I really appreciate how RaD pushed for the U.S. to get the same day of release as other regions around the world. For me, the hardest part of waiting for any majorly anticipated game are those three days between when America gets a game and when the UK gets it afterwards, because everybody's playing it by that point and it becomes incredibly hard to resist/avoid spoilers. So thanks! Yeah, pretty selfish reasoning on my part to revel in the fact that you guys across the pond have to wait three extra days to play The Order, but well...

I'm really glad this is happening, actually. It should honestly be this way for all games if you ask me. Tuesday/Wednesday for the small digital releases and Friday for the huge retail ones should be the norm, I feel.
