Bloodborne gameplay : The first 18 minutes

I don't get the hype for this game. How can anyone be hyped for such horrible jaggies.

Are we sure this is PS4 exclusive?

In the meanwhile, watching the video on my PC finaly, the jaggies ain't 'horrible' as some say. There is noticeable shimmering and that can be fixed, but the jaggies talk is bullshit, plus the compression is ridiculous.
I see a lot of people eating crow when the game is out, and I'm starting to believe they might be starting to enjoy the taste.

Wow, was that bad.

Extremely repetitive enemy design, canned sound effects, NPCs that still have no animations, a bland looking protagonist that still gets stuck behind corners - all wrapped up in a colourless landscape.

I know it's Dark Souls, but that was a pretty horrid first impression, imo.

Truly looked like a shallow revision of an aging concept.

What did you expect devil may cry ?

Also did you forget about character creation ?

Seems like you are being a little too nit picky

I'm really looking forward to this game - I've not played any FROM software games before, but the atmosphere and premise for this one looks fantastic.

I assume I can expect to die a lot

Well more diversity in the enemy design for starters. Seems like it was just about piling on the same character assets.

Character animations looked equally primitive.

And I know it's called Bloodborne, but there was so much gushing it was making me blood bored.

It just looked pretty stale to me.

So just like Demon souls ?

I don't see the problem

Can people troll any harder than this? Seriously what the feck

lmao. the dumbfuck trolls still at it? don't you guys get tired of repeating the same concerns ad nauseam? at least the one dude in the order thread made an attempt to diversify his concerns by remarking on the game's lack of comedic elements.

SO much salt.

So, I said to him "No one is ever going to take you seriously posting on the internet".
"Oh Yeah?" he said "When I name myself dragonfart28 then they will, then they will".

Here are the enemy types shown

1. werewolf

2. Human type
a. short axe w/without torch
b. pitchfork
c. shield type w/ torch
d. rifle

3. diseased dogs
4. diseased crows
5. cleric beast

Also, in the alpha there was these big enemies with blades and a wheelchair gunner

I think that's plenty of diversity in the first 18 minutes

And the animations are fantastic, open your eyes and stop trolling bro. Everyone knows what you're doing

There's also that big ogre surrounded by crows that they ran past. There's a couple variations of that enemy on this map if I recall correctly.

Just gunna answer to the bolded one : 2hrs game time played right here, are you expecting a new enemy at every new encounter?

Not even 2 hours in this case...18 minutes lol.

Gotta wonder what game has much in the way of enemy variety in the first 18 minutes.

Bloodborne has plenty when looking at all the released footage thus far, and we've only seen a tiny portion of the game.

Also, part of what was really jarring to me was the beginning when the character is payable just after the animation of him getting off the table.

It looked too robotic at times - like the natural fluid movements were cut by sudden changes in direction.

It's not a problem if you want more of the same, but I think I can drop off the ds train if there isn't much of an evolution in the formula.

So are you just gonna ignore the posts that call you out about the enemy variety or....?

Is it safe to assume that blood vials are the only healing item, and that there aren't multiple types of them like the grass system in Demon's Souls? I think Dark Souls did healing the best, and Dark Souls 2 did it the worst. If Bloodborne did it where vials are basically Estus but need to be found in the environment then I'll be happy.

There's at least one other healing item... the Foul-Smelling Pill or something like that that's a heal over time like lifegems.

What are your top 5 from 2014?

Well more diversity in the enemy design for starters.

Lol

Souls games are some of the few games left that even have decent enemy diversity anymore, and given this has apparently been given lots of time to cook to fully realise the game's vision and has a good budget behind it I don't see that changing at all.

~175 enemy types in DS2, not counting the DLC, which puts the number easily over 200. I'm sooooooo concerned about the potential lack of enemy variety in Bloodborne, guys.

Sounds like a Souls game. It may be strange, but the jankiness is one of my favorite parts of the Souls series. They are always kind rough around the edges and I find it somewhat charming.

Lol

Hey I just had really high hopes for this game.

For everyone who enjoys it, I'm happy for them.

If you don't mind the details I brought up don't matter to you, that's fine. Don't let my opinion stop you from being hyped.

I don't root for Nintendo but I do enjoy their games and hardware design.

I currently have a Wii U and there is no temptation to get one of the other platforms unlike last gen where it made more...

So why do you care so much about how does Bloodborne look? As you dont even own a PS4, it seems your trying to mentally "un-hyping" the game so you feel better about skipping it. :P

Are you a game journalist?

A bunch of baseless wordplay.

Canned sounds? Da fuq?
Primitive animations? What does that even mean?

Only sentence with real meaning was the one about reusing character assets. Did you see a citizens hand on a bloodhound or something?
Which assets are being reused on another type of enemy?

Oh you mean this first 18 minute section of the intro of the game was an area within TOWN with a lot of citizens walking around? The shock of that is extraordinary.

I feel like this image needs to get the "Praising Intensifies" gif treatment, but with a BB-appropriate quip...

If you've been playing the Souls games you should understand that those "sudden movements" are necessary for responsive controls in this type of game. The transitions offer you the freedom to cancel into attacks or rolls or whatever, without being too stuck in your current animation or blend space.

Also, forgive my change of tone here, but if something as trivial as a character getting off a table is getting to you, then yes, maybe you should have gotten off "the ds train" a long time ago. It's like you're holding on by your fingernails at this point going "Guys. GUYS. I'm gonna do it, guys. I'm gonna jump. Don't make me jump, guys. Please."

Just jump already. It's clear you're not in the mood for BB.
