Persona 5 New Trailer

My Top 3 for 2015 is now No Mans Sky, Bloodborne and Persona 5. You done good Atlus

The main thing I hated about Persona 4 was the dungeon layouts and gameplay within. Looks like they may be addressing that in a big way.

Also, please god don't have me play for 2 hours before the first battle lol.

Has there been any confirmation or denial about persona's being literal masks this time around? I asked once but the thread is moving a little too fast. It's something I noticed in the trailer and have been trying to crawl through the pages of info but haven't seen anything.

Also, also, please make it so the MC dying in battle isn't an instant game over, if you're gonna keep Hama/Mudo. Or make it so Hama/Mudo just do half of your HP if they hit, period.

Demons instead of shadows is probably my favorite thing in here. And the HD models for the few we saw looked nice. Can't wait to see what they reuse those assets in too!

There are few words to express how fucking HYPED I am.
Now to pray to whatever divinity for Atlus to not monumentally fuck up the EU release.

They've been doing pretty well since SEGA bought them. Look at how fast Persona Q and P4AU showed up.

You are cool!

Thanks so much man! :D

I wonder if they're going back to negotiations or if the MC has a locked persona like the rest of the party. Not gonna lie, I'm hoping for the latter.

I'd love to see locked Persona on main character - this was always my main criticism of P3/P4 that you changed personas so often that there was no time to fstart caring about them.

And i really really hope there won't be demon negotiations - they are such a huge waste of time after few hours.

Thank God, thought this would just be another animated trailer.

- Catherine-style graphics? Yes, please.
- Cover system and platforming? I trust Atlus, looks much sleeker than the stuff we've seen in Final Fantasy XV so far, IMO.
- UI/menus that would make Michiko Sakurai jealous.
- Amazing music.

Oh, and what are they? Thieves? Superheroes? Vigilantes? Goddamn, I cannot wait. Day one.

Now that the site is actually working, it looks like they have a new blog post up: http://p-ch.jp/news/detail/?nid=244

It's a message from Hashino and the dev team to fans. He talks about how Persona 5's main influences are School Juvenile fiction and Picaresque novels. Unlike previous Persona games where the players were clearly a team on the side of "good" going after a bad guy, this time they're trying for something a little different. The story is about high school students chasing after their own interpretation of "justice" after an unexpected incident. He hopes fans will enjoy the enhanced graphics and sound in the new entry as well as party members who might be a little more ill-mannered than before.

As far as I can tell nobody is dissapoint after this and hype levels are gone through the roof. How is this even possible on GAF?

Trailer looks great. I haven't played a Persona game before. Will I be ok going straight into P5 or should I do some research before playing it?

OMG , THIS TRAILER

So good. you can feel all the influences from their other work while they were planning this .

So much style ..it's GLORIOUS

DAY -1 (pre-order confirmed)

Gameplay seems an improvement over P4 (Demons instead of ugly shadows, actual dungeons, more lively environments).

Hopefully they'll tone down the wish-fulfillment stuff that was so prominent in P4 for character interactions more similar to P2, or heck, even 3.

Demons instead of shadows is probably my favorite thing in here. And the HD models for the few we saw looked nice. Can't wait to see what they reuse those assets in too!

Yeah, having those demons modeled makes a console SMT game very likely. So time to get hyped for the next thing too.

All this game needed to be insta-buy from me was the promise of fully-crafted levels. Looks like that's the case to me.

The fact that we're fighting the demons in this entry has me wondering if we're sticking to one persona with varying forms over the course of the game.

the only bad thing in the trailer is the effing cat... I can see all the nyan garbage already.

It's the animal sidekick mantra continued from the series and a common trope in Japanese games/anime. Teddy, Koromaru, Whatever the Cat's name is (Acedia Luxuria?)

Edit: Although I guess technical Teddy doesn't count, technically

As someone who hasn't beat P4G yet and not sure if I want another persona based on that, the trailer was awesome!! It's pushed. me to want it based on that alone!

Wow, incredible. Looks like it might improve on Persona 4 by having level design and gameplay that's actually fun. Can't wait to hear about the narrative

Looks like enemies are proper enemies on screen, not shadows of varying sizes anymore as far as I can tell

I don't know, they seem pretty generic, maybe some adjustments based on the dungeon. Here they be knights.

So maybe policemen in a police station etc. but they turn into demons in the battle.

Looks like they're taking another gameplay/mechanics shift from P3/P4. I'm intrigued.

And fucking hyped! Inject it into my veins!

the only bad thing in the trailer is the effing cat... I can see all the nyan garbage already.

Hope they find a way to subvert that. Have a character ask

"You're a cat mascot, why aren't you Nyaing?"

"Because it's fucking annoying that's why!"

Now that I'm on my feet again (seriously, that trailer was fantastic!), I'm surprised that Igor is returning. Didn't his Japanese voice actor die some time ago? I thought they would at least change his appearance.

I mean you can see the mask is a certain color you can determine type and whatnot off that

perhaps we get a few 'overworld' enemies of varying sizes that contain all the potential combinations of battles you can have, and you'll be able to figure out the difficulty of that battle if that enemy is flashing red or is a big one comparable to the P3/P4 system

Negotiation is ass garbage so I hope it doesn't reappear.

Yeah, the only thing I'm kind of afraid right now, as they seem to fight other personae. The negotiation system has always been stupid and the one thing I most hate about SMT games.

Hashino's comments in the short preview of the Famitsu interview makes it pretty clear where the game is going thematically I think. It's what a lot of people expected after the original tease when it was revealed. With Persona 5 he's interesting in a game about people challenging the status quo instead of just accepting social values and traditions as the way they are. A major focus in the game seems to be about there being a bad side to society, and delinquent highschool students will rise up against the things which are holding them down.

Negotiation is ass garbage so I hope it doesn't reappear.

Y2Kev why don't you let me take some of your spirit? Just a bit?

Yes/No
