Cooperation is obviously social links. In Japanese, social links were called community. They clearly just have a slightly different name now.

Social Links were called Community in the Japanese release, it's likely that Social Links have been replaced/updated and this is the new term being used... we won't know for sure, but it seems very unlikely that Atlus would remove one of the big draws from P3/4. Especially wouldn't make sense while still keeping the highschool focus.

Games media will play it regardless, and if it hits the right notes, it'll win GOTY. Time wouldn't affect that. Reviewers often ignore anything that comes before September, honestly.

In the past, I might have agreed with you, but now I think GOTY lists are more inclusive.

I care very little about GotY considerations. What I care about is how recognized Persona 5 is, and its sales. I want as many people to know about this game as possible, and for it to have as much outreach as possible. GotY lists are a very small part of this, and releasing during a crowded period does the very opposite for the recognition of a game like Persona 5 than anyone would want (except for those who want to see it perform worse, for whatever reason).

Maybe Sony will put some marketing muscle behind it? They don't have much on the holiday (that we knew) except UC4.

This would be neat. Persona 5 will be the first high profile JRPG on the PS4... oh wait, Bloodborne. Er, well a high profile JRPG on the PS4 regardless, and Sony backing it in marketing would be fantastic. Its appearance at the PSX was promising. Persona 5 having stage time at E3 2015 would be great.
