Persona 5 New Trailer

Well, it releasing in the same month as a big game in the same/a similar genre (ie Zelda, Xenoblade) may hurt it. But nobody's going to say "well, I would buy Persona 5, but it comes out in the same month as COD or AC so I'll pass for now."

That's not true at all.

Part of me wants to believe that Persona will cross over to the mainstream with this release, but the game is so quirky I can't see it really becoming huge in the West.

But the style on this, dear God the style. I love how closer to Catherine this is looking (even the MC reminds me of a young Vincent).

This blows my expectations out of the water, I can't even form words to say how hyped I am. Stylish as fuck, incredible music, crowds, possibly semi-realtime classes, platforming and level design, guns are back, the main characters so far all look amazing, so much good.

Prediction: "Luxuria" and the other latin "sins" are the new Tarot classifications.

I could be wrong though, given that the weapons shop lists the protagonist as "The Fool".

Was looking through my Twitter feed, I fully agree here. Looks like a big improvement and makes it feel much more alive.

Wow at the page count.

This makes me finally want to break out my copy of P4G and try my first Persona. All this hype has to mean something.

If there's only four characters, do you think they might be themed after the Suits in a card deck rather than Tarot Cards? The MC seems to be the "Heart", judging by the design of his Persona, and playing cards seem to go better with the whole Gentleman Thief theme.

It looks like the blond girl has a clover on the back of her jacket in that picture of the classroom scene, too.

Disgaea 5? Or is that considered more of a SRPG instead of a JRPG?

Hm, I'd honestly say Persona 5 is higher profile than Disgaea 5, but I didn't think of that. Probably not as low as Omega Quintet, but not on Persona's current level, I think.

Either way, all I'm saying is that Persona is clearly something that Sony can tout/market, if they think it's worth it, and I'd like to see them do so. Appearing at the PSX last time with practically zero news, as odd as it seems, was kind of a good sign for their acknowledgement of Persona 5.

No, since the series uses Tarot cards because of its roots in Jungian Psychology

I wonder what's with the other 3 characters' HP/SP bars moving around like that right before the attack.

My guess is that it was The Protagonist's turn in-game and it was an "all out attack", so it brought everyone's icons onto the screen as they all are involved in the attack.

Her name is Morgana. From the name, I think she's a female (and shouldn't all cat thiefs is female too? lol).

I think he was asking about the full cast. Not just the cat.

So... Any guesses on the cast's names will be? lol

No guesses necessary. They were shown in the trailer.

Sakamoto Ryuji and Takama An (I think) are the other two chars.

And the cat, as Shengar said, is Morgana.

I can't consider the new protag to be Potter-kun anymore, and I'm fine with this. We've gone from the bespeckled kid in a train to a dude in a mask dropping from the sky to bust caps in demons.

The scene where he was in the velvet jail made me think Vincent too. Man this game is going to kick ass.

Actually it's because they based the Persona off the Stands from JoJo, who were themed after the Tarot Cards originally. :P

Nah, I get what you're saying and it's a central element to the series...but I guess they could be using Suit of Cards theme in addition to the Tarot Cards.

i don't care about persona 5, but i'm glad everybody else is excited about it. video games!

Watch him be the fucking reviewer for that game. Also, what professional comes out and says something around "I don't care" when it deals with your field and it may be dropped into your lap?

I have seen the trailer like 6 times already and it gives me the stupidest of the smiles each single time. Having that stream running for 30 hours was worth every second.

I need this game in my life!

I can't get over how amazing the MC looks. Save me GAF ;-;.

It's shocking how the same droll-ish character from the initial reveal gained an incredibly dynamic and exciting design in this one. Soejima loves his transformations. I love the contrast from both a design and thematic standpoint.

It looks like Lupin III meets, American street level super heroes, meets Persona. It's amazing they met all the hype that stupid 30 hour marathon built up.

I got into work this morning at 6:30AM and watched this on my phone in my car while waiting to walk into the cold to work. Even on a small screen, this trailer oozes style. Up until this point, I wasn't sure what to expect coming into Persona 5. This trailer reassured me. I am all aboard the hype train and will be getting this day one.

CHOO CHOO

I tried playing Persona 3 a few years back (once on PS2 and once on PSP) and couldn't get into it. Tried 4 on at least three separate occasions (PS2, PS2 Classics & Vita) but found it boring as shit.

This, on the other hand looks cool as fuck. I guess I'll give it a shot.

I just noticed, that that is some fugly pants muster. lol

Hope there will be more characters, but I like the overall 'feeling'. The costumes are strange. Hope those stupid masks / costumes aren't the equivalent to the p4 glasses, but they probably will.

I wonder if the one guy in the menus will be playable. Probably not and just a vendor, but he looks like my kind of character (the guy who looks like JOJO).
