Anybody gif the part of him running through the mall with the colored columns? That part made my jaw drop, really interesting color scheme.

A few things:

- I love how the city blocks falling down reminded me of Persona 3's opening, except it's grey on red instead of grey on blue.

- Why is the MC's HP and SP so awful compared to the teammates.

- Seems the weather will play a role again (as it's part of the UI)

- Persona 5 is organizing a heist before GTA Online is. Who would've thought.

The weather was on the HUD in P4G too, wasn't it? And I think it only affected the fishing game/bug hunting.

They seem to have changed/experimented way more than I expected, and the new movement options and similar suggest much more deliberate dungeon design, which would fix my main issue with the last two games and just about everything else looks great too, so they've managed to get me fully on the hype train.

Your soon to be husband is one of the nicest members on this board, great to have you here too.

He's even nicer in real life. He's so loving and caring. I fell in love with him back when we were kids, and I've never stopped loving him. BTW I just showed him your message, and he had a BIG SMILE. :)

Okay, sorry to bring this up. Don't want to push attention away from this. If anyone wants P5 avatars made though, PM me which character, and my fiance will make you one. He's making them on his laptop and emailing them to me.

no idea what i just watched havent played the persona games how do they play like final fantasy taking turns and attacking

It is turn based. In P4 and P3 you could either do a physical attack (which is based on your equipped weapon's stat) or use skills (based on your equipped Persona). Also, items, guard, run are options.

You can switch Persona at will, like say Pokémon, as they have varying weaknesses and strength. You usually keep a few to accomplish different roles (healing, magic attacks, physical attacks, buffing your party, etc.)

It was pretty much at the center of the game actually.
Rainy days meant you had to go save someone, fog had a big role in the plot
Compare to P3 which had moon phases and that too was at the center of the game.

I can't get over how amazing the overworld stuff looked. Or I mean that part where he walks around in the station. I'm so beyond excited for the new engine.

Amongst all the other amazingness of this trailer, what really stands out to me is it looks like the MC has a real, defined personality. All of his actions and movements (in the real world) scream boredom, disinterest and a sense of bring uncomfortable (him on the train, fast-walking through the station) and it is fucking awesome.

Ehm, no rain affected the point you get by studying, and the availability of that special ramen to boost your stats.
And of course, several rainy day were anouncing coming fog, which was your deadline for clearing donjons.

Looks amazing. The art style/proportions look pretty realistic and close to Catherine. Also, the main cast looks a bit older the P4 cast (always felt like P4 cast looked more middle school than high school).

Ryuji? Anzu?

Where did we get the names? Are they in the trailer?

Equipment screen.

The part where they were talking over the railing looked so good. I wonder how big some of these area's are going to be and if there will less load screens obstructing the way.

Also these places will be changing throughout the year. Seasonal changes, weather changes, day and night, or during special festivities.

I agree. I have to confess i initially did not like the MC too much, and it was hard for me to believe that I'd like this MC or the rest of the cast (unknown until today ofc), as much as i did the previous casts, but after this trailer i know that i like the MC very much and i also like the characters shown so far. Once more, we have a great cast for Persona.

Looks great. Sad we don't have more of JRPGs in this style, instead there's too much of the horrible waifuuuuu-jailbait uguuu~ animu crap. Nevertheless, it's a good time to be a JRPG fan with this, Xenoblade X, Fire Emblem if, TitS SC, new Ys & FFXV being released within a year of each other.

I read what you wrote. It sounded like you getting very bothered over something that wasn't intending offense. I don't think the poster was assuming everyone was a male, he was addressing his joke at the relevant crowd of males. If you went "hot husbandos ladies!" I wouldn't take offense that you were assuming my gender, I'd assume your post was meant for another demographic.

Really, this is why it's better to keep the waifu jokes and posts to other threads and not in the main-page Gaming threads. Too many derails and people taking offense.

I'm sorry but this sounds like being completely ignorant or just not used to it. I would think the same as you if I hardly experience this. I certainly thought of it as such in the early years when I used to visit forums.

How about believing others and leave it at that instead of being defensive and saying others are taking offense as if that's all they love to do for no reason?

I'm not planning on derailing the thread. Just said what I thought and hope others understand and leave it at that. But no, it has to escalate because responds can't be more civil.

I'm more than happy to talk about the game after saying what I had in mind.

Yes! Maybe the time of jrpgs moving out of that gutter has arrived!

Persona 5 is here to save us.

It looks like the next Persona game and that's all it had to be. I guess now I just wait until I hear when it's coming out.

Is it being released on PS3? I don't have any playstation consoles anymore, I was gonna buy a PS3 to play this.

PS3 & PS4.

Yeah. It's for PS3 and PS4.

so anyone have theories on what's happening to this train conductor(?) in the trailer?

Possession as one of the game's themes? Heroes possessed, normal people possessed... and that ties into the whole "rebel against the shackles" thing, I guess, but who's doing the rebelling?

Well that trailer was everything I hoped for. Now I just hope this game hits the US this year like they said and I will be very happy.

Takamaki Anne? Hope I'm not being ignorant, but Anne doesn't sound very Japanese. Is she perhaps from somewhere else?

Anne souds very french. She's blonde. Maybe she got one french/western parents. I doubt they went with Anne for an american girl. It's a bit specific.

Glad that what we see of the opening looks better than the junk they put in P4G, but I wish they'd drop the in-game anime cutscenes.

I agree, but only because not having anime cutscenes would allow you to customize the main character. That's one thing I feel like Persona should pick up from western RPGs.

I'm legit more hyped for this than FFXV for the time being, despite being a bigger FF fan. This all changed after seeing this trailer.

She could be like Lisa Silverman from Persona 2.

Also, there is the possibility that her parents give her a western name.

Edit: There were some articles not long ago about japanese parents more open to western culture and giving their songs western names.

I know we haven't gotten a chance to play the game for ourselves but just from the trailer, the characters and their personality seem great so far.

So how the fuck does the Persona team do it? Time and time again they're able to give us great characters that we can somehow relate to and have some sort of emotional connection to.

The track record is just ridiculous.

So excited!
